We show that the spectral radius of an $N\times N$ random symmetric matrix with i.i.d. bounded centered but non-symmetrically distributed entries is bounded from below by $ 2 \*σ- o(N^{-6/11+ε}), $ where $σ^2 $ is the variance of the matrix entries and $ε$ is an arbitrary small positive number. Combining with our previous result from [7], this proves that for any $ε>0, $ one has $$ \|A_N\| =2 \*σ+ o(N^{-6/11+ε}) $$ with probability going to 1 as $N \to \infty. $
Wigner random matrices with non-symmetrically distributed entries
We show that the spectral radius of an $N\times N$ random symmetric matrix with i.i.d. bounded centered but non-symmetrically distributed entries is bounded from above by $ 2 \*σ+ o(N^{-6/11+ε}), $ where $σ^2 $ is the variance of the matrix entries and $ε$ is an arbitrary small positive number. Our bound improves the earlier results by Z.Füredi and J.Komlós (1981), and the recent bound obtained by Van Vu (2005).

Let G be a random subgraph of the n-cube where each edge appears randomly and independently with probability p. We prove that the largest eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of G is almost surely λ_1(G)= (1+o(1)) max(Δ^{1/2}(G),np), where Δ(G) is the maximum degree of G and o(1) term tends to zero as max (Δ^{1/2}(G), np) tends to infinity.
On the largest eigenvalue of a sparse random subgraph of the hypercube
We consider a sparse random subraph of the $n$-cube where each edge appears independently with small probability $p(n) =O(n^{-1+o(1)})$. In the most interesting regime when $p(n)$ is not exponentially small we prove that the largest eigenvalue of the graph is asymtotically equal to the square root of the maximum degree.

We discuss CLT for the global and local linear statistics of random matrices from classical compact groups. The main part of our proofs are certain combinatorial identities much in the spirit of works by Kac and Spohn.
