On Neutral Edge Sets in Anti-Ramsey Numbers
The anti-Ramsey number of a graph $G$, introduced by Erdős et al.\ in 1975, is the maximum number of colors in an edge-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ that avoids a rainbow copy of $G$. We call a subset of edges of $G$ \emph{neutral} for the anti-Ramsey number if removing them does not alter the anti-Ramsey number of $G$. Let $k$, $t$, and $n$ be positive integers, and consider $G = kP_4 \cup tP_2$. Assume $S \subseteq E(G)$ consists of internal edges of the $P_4$ components in $G$. It is known that $S$ is neutral when $t \geq k+1 \geq 2$ and $n \geq 8k + 2t - 4$. In this paper, we identify values of $k \geq t$ such that, for all $n$ in a specific subinterval of $[8k + 2t - 4, \infty)$, $S$ remains neutral. Since the anti-Ramsey numbers for matchings are well understood, our results provide a complete determination of the anti-Ramsey number for $G$ under these conditions. Based on our findings, we conjecture that this neutrality may extend to the general case $t \geq 1$, $k \geq 1$, and $n \geq 4k + 2t$, but not when $t = 0$, $k \geq 2$, and $n \geq 4k$.
On the Anti-Ramsey Number Under Edge Deletion
According to a study by Erdős et al. in 1975, the anti-Ramsey number of a graph \(G\), denoted as \(AR(n, G)\), is defined as the maximum number of colors that can be used in an edge-coloring of the complete graph \(K_n\) without creating a rainbow copy of \(G\). In this paper, we investigate the anti-Ramsey number under edge deletion and demonstrate that both decreasing and unchanging are possible outcomes. For three non-negative integers \(k\), \(t\), and \(n\), let \(G = kP_4 \cup tP_2\). Let \(E'\) be a subset of the edge set \(E(G)\) such that every endpoint of these edges has a degree of two in \(G\). We prove that if one of the conditions (i) \(t \geq k + 1 \geq 2\) and \(n \geq 8k + 2t - 4\); (ii) \(k, t \geq 1\) and \(n = 4k + 2t\); (iii) \(k = 1\), \(t \geq 1\), and \(n \geq 2t + 4\), occurs then the behavior of the anti-Ramsey number remains consistent when the edges in \(E'\) are removed from \(G\), i.e., \(AR(n, G) = AR(n, G - E')\). However, this is not the case when \(k \geq 2\), \(t = 0\), and \(n=4k\). As a result, we calculate \(AR(kP_4 \cup tP_2)\) for the cases: (i) \(t \geq k + 1 \geq 2\) and \(n \geq 8k + 2t - 4\); (ii) \(k, t \geq 1\) and \(n = 4k + 2t\); (iii) \(k = 1\), \(t \geq 0\), and \(n \geq 2t + 4\); (iv) \(k \geq 1\), \(t = 0\), and \(n = 4k\).
On the Anti-Ramsey Number of Spanning Linear Forests with Paths of Lengths 2 and 3
An edge-coloring of a graph $G$ assigns a color to each edge in the edge set $E(G)$. A graph $G$ is considered to be rainbow under an edge-coloring if all of its edges have different colors. For a positive integer $n$, the anti-Ramsey number of a graph $G$, denoted as $AR(n, G)$, represents the maximum number of colors that can be used in an edge-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ without containing a rainbow copy of $G$. This concept was introduced by Erdős et al. in 1975. The anti-Ramsey number for the linear forest $kP_3 \cup tP_2$ has been extensively studied for two positive integers $k$ and $t$. Formulations exist for specific values of $t$ and $k$, particularly when $k \geq 2$, $t \geq \frac{k^2 - k + 4}{2}$, and $n \geq 3k + 2t + 1$. In this work, we present the anti-Ramsey number of the linear forest $kP_3 \cup tP_2$ for the case where $k \geq 1$, $t \geq 2$, and $n = 3k + 2t$. Notably, our proof for this case does not require any specific relationship between $k$ and $t$.
On a Conjecture about Comparing the First and Second Zagreb Indices of Graphs
Let $G$ be a graph with order $n(G)$, size $m(G)$, first Zagreb index $M_1(G)$, and second Zagreb index $M_2(G)$. More than twenty years ago, it was conjectured that $\frac{M_1(G)}{n(G)} \leq \frac{M_2(G)}{m(G)}$. Later, Hansen and Vukičević demonstrated that this conjecture does not hold for general graphs but is valid for chemical graphs. In this paper, as an extension of the study of chemical graphs, we investigate graphs in which the difference between the minimum and maximum degrees is at most $3$. We prove that any graph in this class that serves as a counterexample to the stated conjecture must have a minimum degree of $2$ and a maximum degree of $5$. Furthermore, we present infinitely many connected graphs that serve as counterexamples to this conjecture, all of which have a minimum degree of 2, a maximum degree of 5, and an order of at least 218.
On the local metric dimension of $K_5$-free graphs
Let \( G \) be a graph with order \( n(G) \geq 5 \), local metric dimension \( \dim_l(G) \), and clique number \( ω(G) \). In this paper, we investigate the local metric dimension of \( K_5 \)-free graphs and prove that \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{3}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 4 \). As a consequence of this finding, along with previous publications, we establish that if \( G \) is a \( K_5 \)-free graph, then \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{5}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 2 \), \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{1}{2}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 3 \), and \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{3}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 4 \). Notably, these bounds are sharp for planar graphs. These results for graphs with a clique number less than or equal to 4 provide a positive answer to the conjecture stating that if \( n(G) \geq ω(G) + 1 \geq 4 \), then \( \dim_l(G) \leq \left( \frac{ω(G) - 2}{ω(G) - 1} \right)n(G) \).
Intertwining local (adjacency) metric dimension with the clique number of a graph
Let $G$ be a simple connected graph with order $ n(G)$, local metric dimension $ {\rm dim}_l(G)$, local adjacency metric dimension $ {\rm dim}_{A,l}(G)$, and clique number $ ω(G)$, where $G\not\cong K_{n(G)}$ and $ω(G)\geq3$. It is proved that $ {\rm dim}_{A,l}(G) \leq \left\lfloor \left(\frac{ω(G) - 2}{ω(G) - 1}\right)n(G)\right\rfloor$. Consequently, the conjecture asserting that the latter expression is an upper bound for ${\rm dim}_l(G)$ is confirmed. It is important to note that there are infinitely many graphs that satisfy the equalities.
On the local metric dimension of $K_4$-free graphs
Let $G$ be a graph of order $ n(G) $, local metric dimension $ \dim_l(G) $, and clique number $ ω(G) $. It has been conjectured that if $ n(G) \geq ω(G) + 1 \geq 4 $, then $ \dim_l(G) \leq \left( \frac{ω(G) - 2}{ω(G) - 1} \right) n(G) $. In this paper the conjecture is confirmed for the case $ ω(G) = 3 $. Consequently, a problem regarding the local metric dimension of planar graphs is also resolved.

The decycling number $\nabla(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of vertices that must be removed to eliminate all cycles in $G$. The forest number $f(G)$ is the maximum number of vertices that induce a forest in $G$. So $\nabla(G) + f(G) = |V(G)|$. For the Cartesian product $T \,\square\, T'$ of trees $T$ and $T'$ it is proved that $\nabla(S_n \,\square\, S_{n'}) \leq \nabla(T \,\square\, T')$, thus resolving the conjecture of Wang and Wu asserting that $f(T \,\square\, T') \leq f(S_n \,\square\, S_{n'})$. It is shown that $\nabla(T \,\square\, T') \ge |V(T)| - 1$ and the equality cases characterized. For prisms over trees, it is proved that $\nabla(T\,\square\, K_2) = α'(T)$, and for arbitrary graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$, it is proved that $\nabla(G_1 \,\square\, G_2) \geq α'(G_1) α'(G_2)$, where $α'$ is the matching number.

Interplay between the local metric dimension and the clique number of a graph
The local metric dimension ${\rm dim}_l$ in relation to the clique number $ω$ is investigated. It is proved that if $ω(G)\leq n(G)-3$, then ${\rm dim}_l(G) \leq n(G)-3$ and the graphs attaining the bound classified. Moreover, the graphs $G$ with ${\rm dim}_l(G) = n(G)-3$ are listed (with no condition on the clique number). It is proved that if $ω(G)=n(G)-2$, then $n(G)-4 \leq {\rm dim}_l(G)\leq n(G)-3$, and all graphs are divided into two groups depending on which of the options applies. The conjecture asserting that for any graph $G$ we have ${\rm dim}_l(G) \leq \left[(ω(G)-2)/(ω(G)-1)\right] \cdot n(G)$ is proved for all graphs with $ω(G)\in\{n(G)-1,n(G)-2,n(G)-3\}$. A negative answer is given for the problem whether every planar graph fulfills the inequality ${\rm dim}_l(G) \leq \lceil (n(G)+1)/2 \rceil$.
Graphs whose mixed metric dimension is equal to their order
The mixed metric dimension ${\rm mdim}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the cardinality of a smallest set of vertices that (metrically) resolves each pair of elements from $V(G)\cup E(G)$. We say that $G$ is a max-mdim graph if ${\rm mdim}(G) = n(G)$. It is proved that a max-mdim graph $G$ with $n(G)\ge 7$ contains a vertex of degree at least $5$. Using the strong product of graphs and amalgamations large families of max-mdim graphs are constructed. The mixed metric dimension of graphs with at least one universal vertex is determined. The mixed metric dimension of graphs $G$ with cut vertices is bounded from the above and the mixed metric dimension of block graphs computed.
Graph Irregularity Characterization with Particular Regard to Bidegreed Graphs
In this study we are interested mainly in investigating the relations between two graph irregularity measures which are widely used for structural irregularity characterization of connected graphs. Our study is focused on the comparison and evaluation of the discriminatory ability of irregularity measures called degree deviation S(G) and degree variance Var(G). We establish various upper bounds for irregularity measures S(G) and Var(G). It is shown that the Nikiforov's inequality which is valid for connected graphs can be sharpened in the form of Var(G) < S(G)/2. Among others it is verified that if G is a bidegreed graph then the discrimination ability of S(G) and Var(G) is considered to be completely equivalent.

Let $G$ be a graph and let $S(G)$, $M(G)$, and $T(G)$ be the subdivision, the middle, and the total graph of $G$, respectively. Let ${\rm dim}(G)$, ${\rm edim}(G)$, and ${\rm mdim}(G)$ be the metric dimension, the edge metric dimension, and the mixed metric dimension of $G$, respectively. In this paper, for the subdivision graph it is proved that $\frac{1}{2}\max\{{\rm dim}(G),{\rm edim}(G)\}\leq{\rm mdim}(S(G))\leq{\rm mdim}(G)$. A family of graphs $G_n$ is constructed for which ${\rm mdim}(G_n)-{\rm mdim}(S(G_n))\ge 2$ holds and this shows that the inequality ${\rm mdim}(S(G))\leq{\rm mdim}(G)$ can be strict, while for a cactus graph $G$, ${\rm mdim}(S(G))={\rm mdim}(G)$. For the middle graph it is proved that ${\rm dim}(M(G))\leq{\rm mdim}(G)$ holds, and if $G$ is tree with $n_1(G)$ leaves, then ${\rm dim}(M(G))={\rm mdim}(G)=n_1(G)$. Moreover, for the total graph it is proved that ${\rm mdim}(T(G))=2n_1(G)$ and ${\rm dim}(G)\leq{\rm dim}(T(G))\leq n_1(G)$ hold when $G$ is a tree.

Suppose $G$ is a undirected simple graph. A $k-$subset of edges in $G$ without common vertices is called a $k-$matching and the number of such subsets is denoted by $p(G,k)$. The aim of this paper is to present exact formulas for $p(G,3)$, $p(G,4)$ and $P(G,5)$ in terms of some degree-based invariants.
Laplacian Coefficients of a Forest in terms of the Number of Closed Walks in the Forest and its Line Graph
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph with Laplacian polynomial $ψ(G,λ)=\sum_{k=0}^n(-1)^{n-k}c_kλ^k$. In an earlier paper, the coefficients $c_{n-4}$ and $c_{n-5}$ for tree with respect to some degree-based graph invariants were computed. The aim of this paper is to continue this work by giving an exact formula for the coefficients $c_{n-6}$. As a consequence of this work, the Laplacian coefficients $c_{n-k}$ of a forest $F$, $1\leq k \leq 6$, are computed in terms of the number of closed walks in $F$ and its line graph.

Let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. The Sombor and reduced Sombor indices of $G$ are defined as $SO(G)=\sum_{uv\in E(G)}\sqrt{deg_G(u)^2+deg_G(v)^2}$ and $SO_{red}(G)=\sum_{uv\in E(G)}\sqrt{(deg_G(u)-1)^2+(deg_G(v)-1)^2}$, respectively. We denote by $H_{n,ν}$ the graph constructed from the star $S_n$ by adding $ν$ edge(s) $(0\leq ν\leq n-2)$, between a fixed pendent vertex and $ν$ other pendent vertices. Réti et al. [T. Réti, T. Došlić and A. Ali, On the Sombor index of graphs, $\textit{Contrib. Math. }$ $\textbf{3}$ (2021) 11-18] proposed a conjecture that the graph $H_{n,ν}$ has the maximum Sombor index among all connected $ν$-cyclic graphs of order $n$, where $5\leq ν\leq n-2$. In this paper we confirm that the former conjecture is true. It is also shown that this conjecture is valid for the reduced Sombor index. The relationship between Sombor, reduced Sombor and first Zagreb indices of graph is also investigated.

Let G be an n-vertex graph with m edges. The degree deviation measure of G is defined as s(G)=sum v in V(G)|degG(v)-(2m/n)|, where n and m are the number of vertices and edges of G, respectively. The aim of this paper is to prove the Conjecture 4.2 of [J A de Oliveira, C S Oliveira, C Justel and N M Maia de Abreu, Measures of irregularity of graphs, Pesq. Oper. 33 (3) (2013) 383-398]. The degree deviation measure of chemical graphs under some conditions on the cyclomatic number is also computed.
First and Second Maximum of Randić Index Among all $k-$Cyclic Graphs of a Given Order
Suppose $G$ is a simple graph with edge set $E(G)$. The Randić index $R(G)$ is defined as $R(G)=\sum_{uv\in E(G)}\frac{1}{\sqrt{deg_{G}(u)deg_{G}(v)}}$, where $deg_G(u)$ denotes the vertex degree of $u$ in $G$. In this paper, the first and second maximum of Randić index among all $n-$vertex $k-$cyclic graphs were computed.
