Deduction, Constrained Zero Forcing, and Constrained Searching
Deduction is a recently introduced graph searching process in which searchers clear the vertex set of a graph with one move each, with each searcher's movement determined by which of its neighbors are protected by other searchers. In this paper, we show that the minimum number of searchers required to clear the graph is the same in deduction as in constrained versions of other previously studied graph processes, namely zero forcing and fast-mixed search. We give a structural characterization, new bounds and a spectrum result on the number of searchers required. We consider the complexity of computing this parameter, giving an NP-completeness result for arbitrary graphs, and exhibiting families of graphs for which the parameter can be computed in polynomial time. We also describe properties of the deduction process related to the timing of searcher movement and the success of terminal layouts.

We prove that $K_n+I$, the complete graph of an even order with a $1$-factor duplicated, admits a decomposition into $2$-factors, each a disjoint union of cycles of length $m \geq 5$ if and only if $m \mid n$, except possibly when $m$ is odd and $n=4m$. In addition, we show that $K_n+I$ admits a decomposition into $2$-factors, each a disjoint union of cycles of lengths $m_1, \ldots, m_t$, whenever $m_1, \ldots, m_t$ are all even.
An introduction to the deduction number
The deduction game is a variation of the game of cops and robber on graphs in which searchers must capture an invisible evader in at most one move. Searchers know each others' initial locations, but can only communicate if they are on the same vertex. Thus, searchers must deduce other searchers' movement and move accordingly. We introduce the deduction number and study it for various classes of graphs. We provide upper bounds for the deduction number of the Cartesian product of graphs.
On equitably 2-colourable odd cycle decompositions
An $\ell$-cycle decomposition of $K_v$ is said to be \emph{equitably $2$-colourable} if there is a $2$-vertex-colouring of $K_v$ such that each colour is represented (approximately) an equal number of times on each cycle: more precisely, we ask that in each cycle $C$ of the decomposition, each colour appears on $\lfloor \ell/2 \rfloor$ or $\lceil \ell/2 \rceil$ of the vertices of $C$. In this paper we study the existence of equitably 2-colourable $\ell$-cycle decompositions of $K_v$, where $\ell$ is odd, and prove the existence of such a decomposition for $v \equiv 1, \ell$ (mod $2\ell$).
A survey on constructive methods for the Oberwolfach problem and its variants
The generalized Oberwolfach problem asks for a decomposition of a graph $G$ into specified 2-regular spanning subgraphs $F_1,\ldots, F_k$, called factors. The classic Oberwolfach problem corresponds to the case when all of the factors are pairwise isomorphic, and $G$ is the complete graph of odd order or the complete graph of even order with the edges of a $1$-factor removed. When there are two possible factor types, it is called the Hamilton-Waterloo problem.
In this paper we present a survey of constructive methods which have allowed recent progress in this area. Specifically, we consider blow-up type constructions, particularly as applied to the case when each factor consists of cycles of the same length. We consider the case when the factors are all bipartite (and hence consist of even cycles) and a method for using circulant graphs to find solutions. We also consider constructions which yield solutions with well-behaved automorphisms.
Firefighting with a Distance-Based Restriction

In the classic version of the game of firefighter, on the first turn a fire breaks out on a vertex in a graph $G$ and then $k$ firefighters protect $k$ vertices. On each subsequent turn, the fire spreads to the collective unburnt neighbourhood of all the burning vertices and the firefighters again protect $k$ vertices. Once a vertex has been burnt or protected it remains that way for the rest of the game. A common objective with respect to some infinite graph $G$ is to determine how many firefighters are necessary to stop the fire from spreading after a finite number of turns, commonly referred to as containing the fire. We introduce the concept of distance-restricted firefighting where the firefighters' movement is restricted so they can only move up to some fixed distance $d$ per turn rather than being able to move without restriction. We establish some general properties of this new game in contrast to properties of the original game, and we investigate specific cases of the distance-restricted game on the infinite square, strong, and hexagonal grids. We conjecture that two firefighters are insufficient on the square grid when $d = 2$, and we pose some questions about how many firefighters are required in general when $d = 1$.
Cyclic cycle systems of the complete multipartite graph
In this paper, we study the existence problem for cyclic $\ell$-cycle decompositions of the graph $K_m[n]$, the complete multipartite graph with $m$ parts of size $n$, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for their existence in the case that $2\ell \mid (m-1)n$.
On the Hamilton-Waterloo Problem with cycle lengths of distinct parities

Let $K_v^*$ denote the complete graph $K_v$ if $v$ is odd and $K_v-I$, the complete graph with the edges of a 1-factor removed, if $v$ is even. Given non-negative integers $v, M, N, α, β$, the Hamilton-Waterloo problem asks for a $2$-factorization of $K^*_v$ into $α$ $C_M$-factors and $β$ $C_N$-factors. Clearly, $M,N\geq 3$, $M\mid v$, $N\mid v$ and $α+β= \lfloor\frac{v-1}{2}\rfloor$ are necessary conditions.
Very little is known on the case where $M$ and $N$ have different parities. In this paper, we make some progress on this case by showing, among other things, that the above necessary conditions are sufficient whenever $M|N$, $v>6N>36M$, and $β\geq 3$.
On the directed Oberwolfach Problem with equal cycle lengths: the odd case
We show that the complete symmetric digraph $K_{2m}^\ast$ admits a resolvable decomposition into directed cycles of length $m$ for all odd $m$, $5 \le m \le 49$. Consequently, $K_{n}^\ast$ admits a resolvable decomposition into directed cycles of length $m$ for all $n \equiv 0 \pmod{2m}$ and odd $m$, $5 \le m \le 49$.
