Unboundedness of the Heesch Number for Hyperbolic Convex Monotiles
We provide a resolution of the Heesch problem for homogeneous (also known as semi-regular) tilings, and as a corollary, for tilings by convex monotiles in the hyperbolic plane. We also provide the first known example of weakly aperiodic convex monotiles arising from the dual of homogeneous tilings.
Pseudo-homogeneous tiling of the hyperbolic plane
A pseudo-homogeneous tiling of a surface is a tiling satisfying the property that the tuple of integers determined by the number of sides of the tiles surrounding each vertex is the same up to a permutation. We develop a systematic method to classify all tuples for which there exist a pseudo-homogeneous tiling of the hyperbolic plane. This, in turn, provides a complete and explicit answer to the question whether a given set of regular polygons tile (edge-to-edge) the hyperbolic plane. As a by-product, we obtain the first known example of a weakly aperiodic set of regular polygons. Further, we produce an infinite family of single weakly aperiodic convex tile with rational inner angles.

Quasi-vertex-transitive maps are the homogeneous maps on the plane with finitely many vertex orbits under the action of their automorphism groups. We show that there exist quasi-vertex-transitive maps of types $[p^3, 3]$ for $p \equiv 1$ (mod $6$), but there doesn't exist vertex-transitive map of such types. In particular, we determine the surface with the lowest possible genus that admit a polyhedral map of type $[5^3, 3]$.
