Cobiased graphs: Single-element extensions and elementary quotients of graphic matroids
Zaslavsky (1991) introduced a graphical structure called a biased graph and used it to characterize all single-element coextensions and elementary lifts of graphic matroids. We introduce a new, dual graphical structure that we call a cobiased graph and use it to characterize single-element extensions and elementary quotients of graphic matroids.

We characterize the 3-connected members of the intersection of the class of bicircular and cobicircular matroids. Aside from some exceptional matroids with rank and corank at most 5, this class consists of just the free swirls and their minors.
A Basic Structure for Grids in Surfaces
A graph $G$ embedded in a surface $S$ is called an $S$-grid when every facial boundary walk has length four, that is, the topological dual graph of $G$ in $S$ is 4-regular. Aside from the case where $S$ is the torus or Klein bottle, an $S$-grid must have vertices of degrees other than four. Let the sequence of degrees other than four in $G$ be called the curvature sequence of $G$. We give a succinct characterization of $S$-grids with nonempty curvature sequence $L$ in terms of graphs that have degree sequence $L$ and are immersed in a certain way in $S$; furthermore, the immersion associated with the $S$-grid $G$ is unique and so our characterization of $S$-grids also partitions the collection of all $S$-grids.
Describing Quasi-Graphic Matroids

This is a revised version of our original paper (arXiv:1808.00489v2) incorporating the corrections published in a corrigendum (arXiv:1808.00489v3). Our main theorem as originally stated was missing the required assumption that matroids should be connected. Those unfamiliar with the original paper will find in this version a complete, correct description of quasi-graphic matroids, sparing them the inconvenience of having to read both the original paper and a separate corrigendum.
We also present here some new results that do not appear in our original paper nor its corrigendum. These appear in Section 6. Of particular interest to readers familiar with the original paper and its corrigendum may be the following result. Given a matroid and a graph, of the four axioms for quasi-graphic matroids, three may be checked in time polynomial in the size of the ground set, but the fourth axiom in general cannot. It is desirable to have such a check that could be carried out in polynomial time. We provide such an alternative (Theorem 6.20).
Matrix representations of frame and lifted-graphic matroids correspond to gain functions

Let $M$ be a 3-connected matroid and let $\mathbb F$ be a field. Let $A$ be a matrix over $\mathbb F$ representing $M$ and let $(G,\mathcal B)$ be a biased graph representing $M$. We characterize the relationship between $A$ and $(G,\mathcal B)$, settling four conjectures of Zaslavsky. We show that for each matrix representation $A$ and each biased graph representation $(G,\mathcal{B})$ of $M$, $A$ is projectively equivalent to a canonical matrix representation arising from $G$ as a gain graph over $\mathbb F^+$ or $\mathbb F^\times$ realizing $\mathcal{B}$. Further, we show that the projective equivalence classes of matrix representations of $M$ are in one-to-one correspondence with the switching equivalence classes of gain graphs arising from $(G,\mathcal B)$, except in one degenerate case.
