Short rainbow cycles in edge-colored graphs
A famous conjecture of Caccetta and Häggkvist (CHC) states that a directed graph $D$ with $n$ vertices and minimum outdegree at least $r$ has a directed cycle of length at most $\lceil \frac{n}{r}\rceil$. In 2017, Aharoni proposed the following generalization: an edge-colored graph $G$ with $n$ vertices, $n$ color classes of size at least $r$ has a rainbow cycle of length at most $\lceil \frac{n}{r}\rceil$. Since CHC can be seen as the case of Aharoni's Conjecture: color classes in the color partition are monochromatic stars centered at distinct vertices, one way to study Aharoni's Conjecture is to structure the color classes as each color class is either a star, a triangle or contains a matching of size 2. Guo improved the upper bound in Aharoni's Conjecture to $O(\log n)$ in some mixed cases when the color classes are not necessarily stars. In this paper, we extend Guo's results. Our main result is as follows: Let $G$ an edge-colored graph on $n$ vertices and $n$ color classes, if at least $αn$ color classes are either a matching of size 2 or a triangle for $α>\frac{1}{2}$, then $G$ contains a rainbow cycle of length $O(\log n)$. We also prove that the $\log n$ bound is the right order of magnitude.
Properly colored even cycles in edge-colored complete balanced bipartite graphs
Consider a complete balanced bipartite graph $K_{n,n}$ and let $K^c_{n,n}$ be an edge-colored version of $K_{n,n}$ that is obtained from $K_{n,n}$ by having each edge assigned a certain color. A subgraph $H$ of $K^c_{n,n}$ is called properly colored (PC) if every two adjacent edges of $H$ have distinct colors. $K_{n,n}^c$ is called properly vertex-even-pancyclic if for every vertex $u\in V(K_{n,n}^c)$ and for every even integer $k$ with $4 \leq k \leq 2n$, there exists a PC $k$-cycle containing $u$. The minimum color degree $δ^c(K^c_{n,n})$ of $K^c_{n,n}$ is the largest integer $k$ such that for every vertex $v$, there are at least $k$ distinct colors on the edges incident to $v$. In this paper we study the existence of PC even cycles in $K_{n,n}^c$. We first show that, for every integer $t\geq 3$, every $K^c_{n,n}$ with $δ^c(K^c_{n,n})\geq \frac{2n}{3}+t$ contains a PC 2-factor $H$ such that every cycle of $H$ has a length of at least $t$. By using the probabilistic method and absorbing technique, we use the above result to further show that, for every $\varepsilon>0$, there exists an integer $n_0(\varepsilon)$ such that every $K^c_{n,n}$ with $n\geq n_0(\varepsilon)$ is properly vertex-even-pancyclic, provided that $δ^c(K^c_{n,n})\geq (\frac{2}{3}+\varepsilon)n$.

An edge-colored graph is \emph{rainbow }if no two edges of the graph have the same color. An edge-colored graph $G^c$ is called \emph{properly colored} if every two adjacent edges of $G^c$ receive distinct colors in $G^c$. A \emph{strongly edge-colored} graph is a proper edge-colored graph such that every path of length $3$ is rainbow. We call an edge-colored graph $G^c$ \emph{rainbow vertex pair-pancyclic} if any two vertices in $G^c$ are contained in a rainbow cycle of length $\ell$ for each $\ell$ with $3 \leq \ell \leq n$. In this paper, we show that every strongly edge-colored graph $G^c$ of order $n$ with minimum degree $δ\geq \frac{2n}{3}+1$ is rainbow vertex pair-pancyclicity.

A path in an edge-colored graph is called proper if no two consecutive edges of the path receive the same color. For a connected graph $G$, the proper connection number $pc(G)$ of $G$ is defined as the minimum number of colors needed to color its edges so that every pair of distinct vertices of $G$ are connected by at least one proper path in $G$. In this paper, we consider two conjectures on the proper connection number of graphs. The first conjecture states that if $G$ is a noncomplete graph with connectivity $κ(G) = 2$ and minimum degree $δ(G)\ge 3$, then $pc(G) = 2$, posed by Borozan et al.~in [Discrete Math. 312(2012), 2550-2560]. We give a family of counterexamples to disprove this conjecture. However, from a result of Thomassen it follows that 3-edge-connected noncomplete graphs have proper connection number 2. Using this result, we can prove that if $G$ is a 2-connected noncomplete graph with $diam(G)=3$, then $pc(G) = 2$, which solves the second conjecture we want to mention, posed by Li and Magnant in [Theory \& Appl. Graphs 0(1)(2015), Art.2].
Solution to a conjecture on the proper connection number of graphs
A path in an edge-colored graph is called a proper path if no two adjacent edges of the path receive the same color. For a connected graph $G$, the proper connection number $pc(G)$ of $G$ is defined as the minimum number of colors needed to color its edges, so that every pair of distinct vertices of $G$ is connected by at least one proper path in $G$. Recently, Li and Magnant in [Theory Appl. Graphs 0(1)(2015), Art.2] posed the following conjecture: If $G$ is a connected noncomplete graph of order $n \geq 5$ and minimum degree $δ(G) \geq n/4$, then $pc(G)=2$. In this paper, we show that this conjecture is true except for two small graphs on 7 and 8 vertices, respectively. As a byproduct we obtain that if $G$ is a connected bipartite graph of order $n\geq 4$ with $δ(G)\geq \frac{n+6}{8}$, then $pc(G)=2$.
Proper connection number and 2-proper connection number of a graph
A path in an edge-colored graph is called a proper path if no two adjacent edges of the path are colored with one same color. An edge-colored graph is called $k$-proper connected if any two vertices of the graph are connected by $k$ internally pairwise vertex-disjoint proper paths in the graph. The $k$-proper connection number of a $k$-connected graph $G$, denoted by $pc_k(G)$, is defined as the smallest number of colors that are needed in order to make $G$ $k$-proper connected. For $k=1$, we write $pc(G)$ other than $pc_1(G)$, and call it the proper connection number of $G$. In this paper, we present an upper bound for the proper connection number of a graph $G$ in terms of the minimum degree of $G$, and give some sufficient conditions for a graph to have $2$-proper connection number two. Also, we investigate the proper connection numbers of dense graphs.

A path $P$ in an edge-colored graph $G$ is called a proper path if no two adjacent edges of $P$ are colored the same, and $G$ is proper connected if every two vertices of $G$ are connected by a proper path in $G$. The proper connection number of a connected graph $G$, denoted by $pc(G)$, is the minimum number of colors that are needed to make $G$ proper connected. In this paper, we investigate the proper connection number of the complement of graph $G$ according to some constraints of $G$ itself. Also, we characterize the graphs on $n$ vertices that have proper connection number $n-2$. Using this result, we give a Nordhaus-Gaddum-type theorem for the proper connection number. We prove that if $G$ and $\overline{G}$ are both connected, then $4\le pc(G)+pc(\overline{G})\le n$, and the only graph attaining the upper bound is the tree with maximum degree $Δ=n-2$.

Let $G$ be a simple graph with vertex set $V(G) = \{v_1 ,v_2 ,\cdots ,v_n\}$. The Harary matrix $RD(G)$ of $G$, which is initially called the reciprocal distance matrix, is an $n \times n$ matrix whose $(i,j)$-entry is equal to $\frac{1}{d_{ij}}$ if $i\not=j$ and $0$ otherwise, where $d_{ij}$ is the distance of $v_i$ and $v_j$ in $G$. In this paper, we characterize graphs with maximum spectral radius of Harary matrix in three classes of simple connected graphs with $n$ vertices: graphs with fixed matching number, bipartite graphs with fixed matching number, and graphs with given number of cut edges, respectively.
Skew Randić Matrix and Skew Randić Energy
Let $G$ be a simple graph with an orientation $σ$, which assigns to each edge a direction so that $G^σ$ becomes a directed graph. $G$ is said to be the underlying graph of the directed graph $G^σ$. In this paper, we define a weighted skew adjacency matrix with Randć weight, the skew Randić matrix ${\bf R_S}(G^σ)$, of $G^σ$ as the real skew symmetric matrix $[(r_s)_{ij}]$ where $(r_s)_{ij} = (d_id_j)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ and $(r_s)_{ji} = -(d_id_j)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ if $v_i \rightarrow v_j$ is an arc of $G^σ$, otherwise $(r_s)_{ij} = (r_s)_{ji} = 0$. We derive some properties of the skew Randić energy of an oriented graph. Most properties are similar to those for the skew energy of oriented graphs. But, surprisingly, the extremal oriented graphs with maximum or minimum skew Randić energy are completely different.
Randić Incidence Energy of Graphs
Let $G$ be a simple graph with vertex set $V(G) = \{v_1, v_2,\ldots, v_n\}$ and edge set $E(G) = \{e_1, e_2,\ldots, e_m\}$. Similar to the Randić matrix, here we introduce the Randić incidence matrix of a graph $G$, denoted by $I_R(G)$, which is defined as the $n\times m$ matrix whose $(i, j)$-entry is $(d_i)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ if $v_i$ is incident to $e_j$ and $0$ otherwise. Naturally, the Randić incidence energy $I_RE$ of $G$ is the sum of the singular values of $I_R(G)$. We establish lower and upper bounds for the Randić incidence energy. Graphs for which these bounds are best possible are characterized. Moreover, we investigate the relation between the Randić incidence energy of a graph and that of its subgraphs. Also we give a sharp upper bound for the Randić incidence energy of a bipartite graph and determine the trees with the maximum Randić incidence energy among all $n$-vertex trees. As a result, some results are very different from those for incidence energy.

The Estrada index of a graph $G$ is defined as $EE(G)=\sum_{i=1}^ne^{λ_i}$, where $λ_1,$ $ λ_2,\ldots, λ_n$ are the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of $G$. In this paper, we characterize the unique bipartite graph with maximum Estrada index among bipartite graphs with given matching number and given vertex-connectivity, edge-connectivity, respectively.
