On Edge-Partitioning of Complete Geometric Graphs into Plane Trees
In response to a well-known open question ``Does every complete geometric graph on $2n\/$ vertices have a partition of its edge set into $n\/$ plane spanning trees?" we provide an affirmative answer when the complete geometry graph is in the regular wheel configuration. Also we present sufficient conditions for the complete geometric graph on $2n\/$ vertices to have a partition of its edge set into $n\/$ plane spanning trees (which are double stars, caterpillars or $ w\/$-caterpillars).

Revisiting the Hamiltonian Theme in the Square of a Block: The General Case
Published • View PublicationBIB
This is the second part of joint research in which we show that every $2$-connected graph $G$ has the ${\cal F}_4$ property. That is, given distinct $x_i\in V(G)$, $1\leq i\leq 4$, there is an $x_1x_2$-hamiltonian path in $G^2$ containing different edges $x_3y_3, x_4y_4\in E(G)$ for some $y_3,y_4\in V(G)$. However, it was shown already in \cite[Theorem 2]{cf1:refer} that 2-connected DT-graphs have the ${\cal F}_4$ property; based on this result we generalize it to arbitrary $2$-connected graphs. We also show that these results are best possible.

A Proof Technique for Skewness of Graphs
The skewness of a graph G is the minimum number of edges in G whose removal results in a planar graph. By appropriately introducing a weight to each edge of a graph, we determine, among other thing, the skewness of the generalized Petersen graph P(4k, k) for odd k at least 9. This provides an answer to the conjecture raised in [3].

Revisiting the Hamiltonian Theme in the Square of a Block: The Case of DT-Graphs

The square of a graph G, denoted G^2, is the graph obtained from G by joining by an edge any two nonadjacent vertices which have a common neighbor. A graph G is said to have the F_k property if for any set of k distinct vertices {x_1, x_2, ..., x_k} in G, there is a hamiltonian path from x_1 to x_2 in G^2 containing k-2 distinct edges of G of the form x_iz_i, i = 3, ..., k. It was proved many years ago that every 2-connected graph has the F_3 property. In the first part of this work, we extend this result by proving that every 2-connected DT-graph has the F_4 property (Theorem 2) and will show in the second part that this generalization holds for arbitrary 2-connected graphs, and that there exist 2-connected graphs which do not have the F_k property for any natural number k >= 5. Altogether, this answers a problem raised before in the affirmative.
Non-Crossing Perfect Matchings and Triangle-Free Geometric Graphs
We study extremal type problem arising from the question: What is the maximum number of edge-disjoint non-crossing perfect matchings on a set S of 2n points in the plane such that their union is a triangle-free geometric graph? We approach this problem by considering four different situations of S. In particular, in the general position, we obtain (i) a sufficient condition for the existence of n edge-disjoint non-crossing perfect matchings in the general position whose union is a maximal triangle-free geometric graph, and (ii) a lower bound on the number of edge-disjoint non-crossing perfect matchings whose union is a triangle free geometric graph.
Triangulability of Convex Graphs and Convex Skewness
Published • View PublicationBIB
Motivated by a result of [1] which states that if F is a subgraph of a convex complete graph K_n and F contains no boundary edge of K_n and |E(F)| \leq n-3, then K_n - F admits a triangulation, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions on F with |E(F)| \leq n-1 for which the conclusion remains true. For |E(F)| \geq n, we investigate the possibility of packing F in K_n such that K_n -F admits a triangulation for certain families of graphs F. These results are then applied to determine the convex skewness of the convex graphs of the form K_n - F.
