Frozen colorings and recolorability of blowups
The $k$-reconfiguration graph $R_k(G)$ of the proper $k$-colorings of a graph $G$ is the graph whose vertices are the $k$-colorings of $G$, with an edge between two colorings if they differ on exactly one vertex. A graph $G$ is recolorable if $R_k(G)$ is connected for all $k \ge χ(G) + 1$. In this paper, we study recolorability under blowups through frozen colorings, here blowup means replacing vertices with non-empty cliques. We characterize frozen colorings of a blowup of $G$ in terms of maximal independent sets of the base graph, and develop a lifting principle that transfers suitable frozen obstructions from an induced subgraph to a blowup of the ambient graph. This framework yields several consequences. In particular, we answer negatively a question of Belavadi, Cameron and Sintiari on recoloring via modular decomposition, and disprove their conjecture on blowups of prime graphs. We further determine exactly which cycles have all blowups recolorable: this holds for $C_n$ if and only if $n\in\{3,4,5,7\}$. The frozen obstructions arising from the negative cases, together with the lifting principle, imply that if every blowup of a graph $G$ is recolorable, then every induced hole of $G$ has length $4$, $5$, or $7$. Finally, using linear programming duality, we show that every such graph $G$ is fractionally co-strongly perfect.

Characterizing $A_σ$-minimizer graphs: given order and independence number
Published • View Publication • BIB
For a given graph $G$, let $A(G)$, $Q(G)$, and $D(G)$ denote the adjacency matrix, signless Laplacian matrix, and diagonal degree matrix of $G$, respectively. The $A_σ(G)$ matrix, proposed by Nikiforov, is defined as $A_σ(G)=σD(G)+(1 - σ)A(G)$, where $σ\in[0,1]$. This matrix captures the gradual transition from $A(G)$ to $Q(G)$. Let $\mathcal{G}_{n,α}$ denote the family of all connected graphs with $n$ vertices and independence number $α$. A graph in $\mathcal{G}_{n,α}$ is referred to as an $A_σ$-minimizer graph if it achieves the minimum $A_σ$ spectral radius. In this paper, we first demonstrate that the $A_σ$-minimizer graph in $\mathcal{G}_{n,α}$ must be a tree when $α\geq\left\lceil\frac{n}{2}\right\rceil$, and we provide several characterizations of such $A_σ$-minimizer graphs. We then specifically characterize the $A_σ$-minimizer graphs for the case $α= \left\lceil\frac{n}{2}\right\rceil + 1$. Furthermore, we obtain a structural characterization for the $A_σ$-minimizer graph when $α=n - c$, where $c\geq4$ is an integer. Finally, we identify 17 potential $A_σ$-minimizer graphs within $\mathcal{G}_{n,n - 4}$, thereby extending the results of Liu and Wang [9].
