A Survey on Codes from Simplicial Complexes
In the field of mathematics, a purely combinatorial equivalent to a simplicial complex, or more generally, a down-set, is an abstract structure known as a family of sets. This family is closed under the operation of taking subsets, meaning that every subset of a set within the family is also included in the family. The purpose of this paper is two-fold. Firstly, it aims to present a comprehensive survey of recent results in the field. This survey intends to provide an overview of the advancements made in codes constructed from simplicial complexes. Secondly, the paper seeks to propose open problems that are anticipated to stimulate further research in this area. By highlighting these open problems, the paper aims to encourage and inspire future investigations and developments in the field of codes derived from simplicial complexes.
Optimal minimal Linear codes from posets

Recently, some infinite families of minimal and optimal binary linear codes were constructed from simplicial complexes by Hyun {\em et al.} We extend this construction method to arbitrary posets. Especially, anti-chains are corresponded to simplicial complexes.
In this paper, we present two constructions of binary linear codes from hierarchical posets of two levels. In particular, we determine the weight distributions of binary linear codes associated with hierarchical posets with two levels. Based on these results, we also obtain some optimal and minimal binary linear codes not satisfying the condition of Ashikhmin-Barg.

Let $p$ be an odd prime number. In this paper, we construct $2(2p-3)$ classes of codes over the ring $R=\Bbb F_p+u\Bbb F_p,u^2=0$, which are associated with down sets. We compute the Lee weight distributions of the $2(2p-3)$ classes of codes when the down sets are generated by a single maximal element. Moreover, by using the Gray map of the linear codes over $R$, we find out $2(p-1)$ classes of $p$-ary distance optimal linear codes. Two of them meet the Griesmer bound.

Recently, Chang and Hyun obtained some classes of binary optimal codes via simplicial complexes. In this letter, we utilize posets of the disjoint union of two chains to construct binary optimal linear codes.
Sharp conditions for the existence of an even $[a,b]$-factor in a graph
Let $a$ and $b$ be positive integers. An even $[a,b]$-factor of a graph $G$ is a spanning subgraph $H$ such that for every vertex $v \in V(G)$, $d_H(v)$ is even and $a \le d_H(v) \le b$. Matsuda conjectured that if $G$ is an $n$-vertex 2-edge-connected graph such that $n \ge 2a+b+\frac{a^2-3a}b - 2$, $δ(G) \ge a$, and $σ_2(G) \ge \frac{2an}{a+b}$, then $G$ has an even $[a,b]$-factor. In this paper, we provide counterexamples, which are highly connected. Furthermore, we give sharp sufficient conditions for a graph to have an even $[a,b]$-factor. For even $an$, we conjecture a lower bound for $λ_1(G)$ in an $n$-vertex graph to have an $[a,b]$-factor, where $λ_1(G)$ is the largest eigenvalue of $G$.
A spectral characterisation of t-designs and its applications

There are two standard approaches to the construction of $t$-designs. The first one is based on permutation group actions on certain base blocks. The second one is based on coding theory. The objective of this paper is to give a spectral characterisation of all $t$-designs by introducing a characteristic Boolean function of a $t$-design. The spectra of the characteristic functions of $(n-2)/2$-$(n, n/2, 1)$ Steiner systems are determined and properties of such designs are proved. Delsarte's characterisations of orthogonal arrays and $t$-designs, which are two special cases of Delsarte's characterisation of $T$-designs in association schemes, are slightly extended into two spectral characterisations. Another characterisation of $t$-designs by Delsarte and Seidel is also extended into a spectral one. These spectral characterisations are then compared with the new spectral characterisation of this paper.
The weighted poset metrics and directed graph metrics
Etzion et al. introduced metrics on $\mathbb{F}_2^n$ based on directed graphs on $n$ vertices and developed some basic coding theory on directed graph metric spaces. In this paper, we consider the problem of classifying directed graphs which admit the extended Hamming codes to be a perfect code. We first consider weighted poset metrics as a natural generalization of poset metrics and investigate interrelation between weighted poset metrics and directed graph based metrics. In the next, we classify weighted posets on a set with eight elements and directed graphs on eight vertices which admit the extended Hamming code $\widetilde{\mathcal{H}}_3$ to be a $2$-perfect code. We also construct some families of such structures for any $k \geq 3$. Those families enable us to construct packing or covering codes of radius 2 under certain maps.
MacWilliams-type equivalence relations
Let $\mathcal{P}$ be a poset on $[n]$, $\mathcal{I}(\mathcal{P})$ the set of order ideals of $\mathcal{P}$ and $E$ an equivalence relation on $\mathcal{I}(\mathcal{P})$. The concepts of the dual relation $E^*$ of an equivalence relation $E$, the $E$-weight (resp. $E^*$-weight) distribution of a linear poset code (resp. its dual poset code) and a MacWilliams-type equivalence relation are introduced. We give a characterization for a MacWilliams-type equivalence relation in terms of MacWilliams-type identities for a linear poset code. Three kinds of equivalence relations on $\mathcal{I}(\mathcal{P})$ which are of MacWilliams-type are found, i.e., $(i)$ we show that every equivalence relation defined by the automorphism of $\mathcal{P}$ is a MacWilliams-type; $(ii)$ we provide a new characterization for poset structures when the equivalence relation defined by the same cardinality on $\mathcal{I}(\mathcal{P})$ becomes a MacWilliams-type; $(iii)$ we also give necessary and sufficient conditions for poset structures in which the equivalence relation defined by the order-isomorphism on $\mathcal{I}(\mathcal{P})$ is a MacWilliams-type.
