Generic properties of discrete Steklov eigenfunctions
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a finite connected graph with boundary $B$. We prove that for a generic positive edge weight function $w \in \mathbb{R}^{|E|}$, the Steklov eigenvalues of $(G,B,w)$ are simple and every Steklov eigenfunction does not vanish on the boundary. More precisely, the exceptional weights are contained in a zero set of a non-identically zero polynomial and hence form a set of Lebesgue measure zero and Hausdorff dimension at most $|E|-1$. Our results provide a discrete extension of the genericity theorem for the Steklov problem on compact manifolds.
The first Steklov eigenvalue bound for graphs of positive genus
Let $G$ be a graph of genus $g$ with boundary $δΩ$. For $g=0$, Lin and Zhao [J. Lond. Math. Soc. 112 (2025), Paper No. e70238] proved an upper bound for the first (non-trivial) Steklov eigenvalue of $(G, δΩ)$, and they posed the problem of determining a corresponding bound for graphs of genus $g>0$. In this paper, we prove an $O\left(\frac{g}{|δΩ|}\right)$ bound for a bounded-degree graph of positive genus $g$. Our result can be regarded as a discrete analogue of Kokarev's bound [Adv. Math. 258 (2014), 191-239], up to a constant factor.
The characteristic polynomial of sunflowers
A uniform hypergraph is called a sunflower if all of its hyperedges intersect in the same set of vertices. In this paper, we determine the eigenvalues and spectral moments of a sunflower, thereby obtaining an explicit formula for its characteristic polynomial.
On the second-largest modulus among the eigenvalues of a power hypergraph
It is well known that the algebraic multiplicity of an eigenvalue of a graph (or real symmetric matrix) is equal to the dimension of its corresponding linear eigen-subspace, also known as the geometric multiplicity. However, for hypergraphs, the relationship between these two multiplicities remains an open problem. For a graph $G=(V,E)$ and $k \geq 3$, the $k$-power hypergraph $G^{(k)}$ is a $k$-uniform hypergraph obtained by adding $k-2$ new vertices to each edge of $G$, who always has non-real eigenvalues. In this paper, we determine the second-largest modulus $Λ$ among the eigenvalues of $G^{(k)}$, which is indeed an eigenvalue of $G^{(k)}$. The projective eigenvariety $\mathbb{V}_Λ$ associated with $Λ$ is the set of the eigenvectors of $G^{(k)}$ corresponding to $Λ$ considered in the complex projective space. We show that the dimension of $\mathbb{V}_Λ$ is zero, i.e, there are finitely many eigenvectors corresponding to $Λ$ up to a scalar. We give both the algebraic multiplicity of $Λ$ and the total multiplicity of the eigenvector in $\mathbb{V}_Λ$ in terms of the number of the weakest edges of $G$. Our result show that these two multiplicities are equal.
The Laplacian spectral moments of power hypergraphs
The $d$-th order Laplacian spectral moment of a $k$-uniform hypergraph is the sum of the $d$-th powers of all eigenvalues of its Laplacian tensor. In this paper, we obtain some expressions of the Laplacian spectral moments for $k$-uniform power hypergraphs, and these expressions can be represented by some parameters of graphs. And we show that some graphs can be determined by their high-order Laplacian spectrum by using the Laplacian spectral moments of power hypergraphs.
The algebraic multiplicity of the spectral radius of a hypertree
It is well-known that the spectral radius of a connected uniform hypergraph is an eigenvalue of the hypergraph. However, its algebraic multiplicity remains unknown. In this paper, we use the Poisson Formula and matching polynomials to determine the algebraic multiplicity of the spectral radius of a uniform hypertree.
Spectra of power hypergraphs and signed graphs via parity-closed walks
The $k$-power hypergraph $G^{(k)}$ is the $k$-uniform hypergraph that is obtained by adding $k-2$ new vertices to each edge of a graph $G$, for $k \geq 3$. A parity-closed walk in $G$ is a closed walk that uses each edge an even number of times. In an earlier paper, we determined the eigenvalues of the adjacency tensor of $G^{(k)}$ using the eigenvalues of signed subgraphs of $G$. Here, we express the entire spectrum (that is, we determine all multiplicities and the characteristic polynomial) of $G^{(k)}$ in terms of parity-closed walks of $G$. Moreover, we give an explicit expression for the multiplicity of the spectral radius of $G^{(k)}$. Our results are mainly obtained by exploiting the so-called trace formula to determine the spectral moments of $G^{(k)}$. As a side result, we show that the number of parity-closed walks of given length is the corresponding spectral moment averaged over all signed graphs with underlying graph $G$. We also extrapolate the characteristic polynomial of $G^{(k)}$ to $k=2$, thereby introducing a pseudo-characteristic function. Among other results, we show that this function is the geometric mean of the characteristic polynomials of all signed graphs on $G$ and characterize when it is a polynomial. This supplements a result by Godsil and Gutman that the arithmetic mean of the characteristic polynomials of all signed graphs on $G$ equals the matching polynomial of $G$.

We show how all eigenvalues of a power hypergraph $G^{(k)}$ can be generated from the eigenvalues of signed subgraphs of the underlying graph $G$. This fixes an incorrect statement in the case of power hypergraphs from [Linear Algebra and its Applications, 590:243-257, 2020].

The spectrum of the $k$-power hypergraph of a graph $G$ is called the $k$-ordered spectrum of $G$.If graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$ have same $k$-ordered spectrum for all positive integer $k\geq2$, $G_1$ and $G_2$ are said to be high-ordered cospectral. If all graphs who are high-ordered cospectral with the graph $G$ are isomorphic to $G$, we say that $G$ is determined by the high-ordered spectrum. In this paper, we use the high-ordered spectrum of graphs to study graph isomorphism and show that all Smith's graphs are determined by the high-ordered spectrum. And we give infinitely many pairs of trees with same spectrum but different high-ordered spectrum by high-ordered cospectral invariants of trees,it means that we can determine that these cospectral trees are not isomorphism by the high-ordered spectrum.
The reduced formula of the characteristic polynomial of hypergraphs and the spectrum of hyperpaths
In this paper, we give a reduced formula of the characteristic polynomial of $k$-uniform hypergraphs with a pendant edge. And the explicit characteristic polynomial and all distinct eigenvalues of $k$-uniform hyperpath are given.
