Fifth Geometric--Arithmetic Index VS Atom--Bond Connectivity Index and Heat of Formation
The geometric--arithmetic indices are widely considered in the chemical graph theory in the last decade. The reason of introducing new indices is to gain prediction of target properties of considered molecules that is better than the prediction obtained by already known indices. In the case of the fifth geometric--arithmetic index hitherto no ability of prediction of some molecule property has been considered.
In this paper we investigate correlations between the fifth geometric--arithmetic index and some other degree--based topological indices on the family of octane isomers and polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Since a very good correlation is established with the well known atom--bond connectivity index for polyaromatic hydrocarbons and then for the alkane series, the relation between the heat of formation and the fifth geometric--arithmetic index is examined and a good correlation is confirmed in that case as well.

The Graovac-Pisanski index, also called the modified Wiener index, was introduced in 1991 and represents an extension of the original Wiener index, because it considers beside the distances in a graph also its symmetries. Similarly as Wiener in 1947 showed the correlation of the Wiener indices of the alkane series with the boiling points, in 2018 the connection between the Graovac-Pisanski index and the melting points of some hydrocarbon molecules was established. In this paper, we prove that the Graovac-Pisanski index of any connected bipartite graph as well as of any connected graph on an even number of vertices is an integer number. These results are applied to some important families of hydrocarbon molecules. By using a computer programme, the graphs with a non-integer Graovac-Pisanski index on at most nine vertices are counted. Finally, an infinite class of unicyclic graphs with a non-integer Graovac-Pisanski index is described.

Theoretical molecular descriptors alias topological indices are a convenient means for expressing in a numerical form the chemical structure encoded in a molecular graph. The structure descriptors derived from molecular graphs are widely used in Quantitative Structure-Property Relationship (QSPR) and Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR).
In this paper, we are interested in the Graovac-Pisanski index (also called modified Wiener index) introduced in 1991 by Graovac and Pisanski, which encounters beside the distances in a molecular graph also its symmetries. In the QSPR analysis we first calculate the Graovac-Pisanski index for different families of hydrocarbon molecules using a simple program and then we show a correlation with the melting points of considered molecules. We show that the melting points of the alkane series can be very effectively predicted by the Graovac-Pisanski index and for the rest of considered molecules (PAH's and octane isomers) the regression models are different, but we establish some correlation with the melting points for them as well.

In this paper, we investigate the edge-Wiener index, the Szeged index, the edge-Szeged index, and the PI index, which are some of the most studied distance-based topological indices. As the main result we show that for benzenoid systems these indices can be computed in sub-linear time with respect to the number of vertices. More precisely, they can be computed in the time dependent on the length of the boundary cycle of a benzenoid system.

In this paper we study the Szeged index of partial cubes and hence generalize the result proved by V. Chepoi and S. Klavžar, who calculated this index for benzenoid systems. It is proved that the problem of calculating the Szeged index of a partial cube can be reduced to the problem of calculating the Szeged indices of weighted quotient graphs with respect to a partition coarser than $Θ$-partition. Similar result for the Wiener index was recently proved by S. Klavžar and M. J. Nadjafi-Arani. Furthermore, we show that such quotient graphs of partial cubes are again partial cubes. Since the results can be used to efficiently calculate the Wiener index and the Szeged index for specific families of chemical graphs, we consider $C_4C_8$ systems and show that the two indices of these graphs can be computed in linear time.
