Munarini graphs: a generalization of Fibonacci cubes and Pell graphs. Part I
The Fibonacci cube $Γ_n$ is the subgraph of the hypercube $Q_n$ induced by vertices with no consecutive $1$s. Munarini introduced Pell graphs, a variation of Fibonacci cubes defined on ternary strings. A generalization of Pell graphs to $(k+1)$-ary strings has recently been proposed. In this paper we introduce Munarini graphs, which constitute an alternative generalization of Fibonacci cubes and Pell graphs. One of the main advantages of Munarini graphs is that, unlike previously proposed generalization, they are daisy cubes, as are Fibonacci cubes and Pell graphs. In this first article, we study some of their fundamental properties including the size, the recursive structure, the cube and maximal cube polynomials.

$p$-th order generalized Fibonacci cubes and maximal cubes in Fibonacci $p$-cubes
The Fibonacci cube $Γ_n$ is the subgraph of the hypercube $Q_n$ induced by vertices with no consecutive 1s. We study a one parameter generalization, p-th order Fibonacci cubes $Γ^{(p)}_n$, which are subgraphs of $Q_n$ induced by strings without p consecutive 1s. We show the link between vertices of $Γ^{(p)}_n$ and compositions of integers with parts in $\{1, 2, \ldots , p\}$. Among other eumerative properties, we study the order, size and cube polynomial of $Γ^{(p)}_n$ as well as their generating functions. Many of the given expressions are similar to those for Fibonacci cubes, where the $p$-nomial coefficients play the role of binomial coefficients. We also show that maximal induced hypercubes in Fibonacci $p$-cubes $Γ^p_n$ , another generalization of Fibonacci cubes, are connected to vertices of $(p + 1)$-th order Fibonacci cubes. We use this link to determine the maximal cube polynomial of Fibonacci $p$-cubes.

Some new results about Fibonacci p-cubes
The Fibonacci cube $Γ_n$ is the subgraph of the hypercube $Q_n$ induced by vertices with no consecutive $1$s. Recently Jianxin Wei and Yujun Yang introduced a one parameter generalization, Fibonacci $p$-cubes $Γ_n^p$, which are subgraphs of hypercubes induced by strings where there is at least $p$ consecutive $0$s between two $1$s. In this paper we first prove the expression conjectured by the authors for the cube polynomial of $Γ_n^p$. By a totally different method we then determine a generalization, the distance cube polynomial. We also complete the invariants investigated in the original paper by two new ones, the Mostar index $\mathit{Mo}(Γ_n^p)$ and the Irregularity $\irr(Γ_n^p)$.

Distance cube polynomials of Fibonacci and Lucas-run graphs
The Fibonacci-run graphs $\mathcal{R}_n$ are a family of an induced subgraph of hypercubes introduced by Eğecioğlu and Iršič in 2021. A cyclic version of $\mathcal{R}_n$, the Lucas-run graph $\mathcal{R}_n^l$, was also recently proposed (Jianxin Wei, 2024). We prove that the generating function previously given for the polynomial $D_{\mathcal{R}_n}(x,q)$ which counts the number of hypercubes at a given distance in $\mathcal{R}_n$ was erroneous and determine its correct expression. We also consider Lucas-run graphs and prove the conjecture proposed by Jianxin Wei establishing the link between cube polynomials of $\mathcal{R}_n^l$ and $\mathcal{R}_n$.

A relation between Wiener index and Mostar index for daisy cubes
Daisy cubes are a class of isometric subgraphs of the hypercubes Q n. Daisy cubes include some previously well known families of graphs like Fibonacci cubes and Lucas cubes. Moreover they appear in chemical graph theory. Two distance invariants, Wiener and Mostar indices, have been introduced in the context of the mathematical chemistry. The Wiener index W (G) is the sum of distance between all unordered pairs of vertices of a graph G. The Mostar index Mo(G) is a measure of how far G is from being distance balanced. In this paper we establish that the Wiener and the Mostar indices of a daisy cube G are linked by the relation 2W (G) -- Mo(G) = |V (G)||E(G)|. We give also an expression of Wiener and Mostar indices for daisy cubes.

Edges in Fibonacci cubes, Lucas cubes and complements

The Fibonacci cube of dimension n, denoted as $Γ\_n$, is the subgraph of the hypercube induced by vertices with no consecutive 1's. The irregularity of a graph G is the sum of |d(x)-d(y)| over all edges {x,y} of G. In two recent paper based on the recursive structure of $Γ\_n$ it is proved that the irregularity of $Γ\_n$ and $Λ\_n$ are two times the number of edges of $Γ\_{n-1}$ and $2n$ times the number of vertices of $Γ\_{n-4}$, respectively. Using an interpretation of the irregularity in terms of couples of incident edges of a special kind (Figure 2) we give a bijective proof of both results. For these two graphs we deduce also a constant time algorithm for computing the imbalance of an edge. In the last section using the same approach we determine the number of edges and the sequence of degrees of the cube complement of $Γ\_n$.

The (non-)existence of perfect codes in Lucas cubes
Published • View PublicationBIB
The Fibonacci cube of dimension n, denoted as $Γ$ n , is the subgraph of the n-cube 5 Q n induced by vertices with no consecutive 1's. Ashrafi and his co-authors proved the non-existence of perfect codes in $Γ$ n for n $\ge$ 4. As an open problem the authors suggest to consider the existence of perfect codes in generalizations of Fibonacci cubes. The most direct generalization is the family $Γ$ n (1 s) of subgraphs induced by strings without 1 s as a substring where s $\ge$ 2 is a given integer. In a precedent work 10 we proved the existence of a perfect code in $Γ$ n (1 s) for n = 2 p -- 1 and s $\ge$ 3.2 p--2 for any integer p $\ge$ 2. The Lucas cube $Λ$ n is obtained from $Γ$ n by removing vertices that start and end with 1. Very often the same problems are studied on Fibonacci cubes and Lucas cube. In this note we prove the non-existence of perfect codes in $Λ$ n for n $\ge$ 4 and 15 prove the existence of perfect codes in some generalized Lucas cube $Λ$ n (1 s).

Perfect codes in generalized Fibonacci cubes

The {\em Fibonacci cube} of dimension $n$, denoted as $Γ\_n$, is the subgraph of the $n$-cube $Q\_n$ induced by vertices with no consecutive 1's. In an article of 2016 Ashrafi and his co-authors proved the non-existence of perfect codes in $Γ\_n$ for $n\geq 4$. As an open problem the authors suggest to consider the existence of perfect codes in generalization of Fibonacci cubes. The most direct generalization is the family $Γ\_n(1^s)$ of subgraphs induced by strings without $1^s$ as a substring where $s\geq 2$ is a given integer. We prove the existence of a perfect code in $Γ\_n(1^s)$ for $n=2^p-1$ and $s \geq 3.2^{p-2}$ for any integer $p\geq 2$.

Daisy cubes and distance cube polynomial
Let X $\subseteq$ {0, 1} n. Then the daisy cube Q n (X) is introduced as the sub-graph of Q n induced by the intersection of the intervals I(x, 0 n) over all x $\in$ X. Daisy cubes are partial cubes that include Fibonacci cubes, Lucas cubes, and bipartite wheels. If u is a vertex of a graph G, then the distance cube polynomial D G,u (x, y) is introduced as the bivariate polynomial that counts the number of induced subgraphs isomorphic to Q k at a given distance from the vertex u. It is proved that if G is a daisy cube, then D G,0 n (x, y) = C G (x + y -- 1), where C G (x) is the previously investigated cube polynomial of G. It is also proved that if G is a daisy cube, then D G,u (x, --x) = 1 holds for every vertex u in G.

Non covered vertices in Fibonacci cubes by a maximum set of disjoint hypercubes

The Fibonacci cube of dimension n, denoted as $Γ$ n , is the subgraph of n-cube Q n induced by vertices with no consecutive 1's. In this short note we prove that asymptotically all vertices of $Γ$ n are covered by a maximum set of disjoint subgraphs isomorphic to Q k , answering an open problem proposed in [2].
On Disjoint hypercubes in Fibonacci cubes

The {\em Fibonacci cube} of dimension $n$, denoted as $Γ\_n$, is the subgraph of $n$-cube $Q\_n$ induced by vertices with no consecutive 1's. We study the maximum number of disjoint subgraphs in $Γ\_n$ isomorphic to $Q\_k$, and denote this number by $q\_k(n)$. We prove several recursive results for $q\_k(n)$, in particular we prove that $q\_{k}(n) = q\_{k-1}(n-2) + q\_{k}(n-3)$. We also prove a closed formula in which $q\_k(n)$ is given in terms of Fibonacci numbers, and finally we give the generating function for the sequence $\{q\_{k}(n)\}\_{n=0}^{ \infty}$.

Asymptotic Properties of Fibonacci Cubes and Lucas Cube
It is proved that the asymptotic average eccentricity and the asymptotic average degree of Fibonacci cubes and Lucas cubes are $(5+\sqrt 5)/10$ and $(5-\sqrt 5)/5$, respectively. A new labeling of the leaves of Fibonacci trees is introduced and proved that the eccentricity of a vertex of a given Fibonacci cube is equal to the depth of the associated leaf in the corresponding Fibonacci tree. Hypercube density is also introduced and studied. The hypercube density of both Fibonacci cubes and Lucas cubes is shown to be $(1-1/\sqrt 5)/\log_2\varphi$, where $\varphi$ is the golden ratio, and the Cartesian product of graphs is used to construct families of graphs with a fixed, non-zero hypercube density. It is also proved that the limit normed sum of ratios of Fibonacci words and Lucas words with fixed coordinate 0 and 1, respectively, is $\varphi^2$.

On domination of Cartesian product of directed cycles
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $γ(C_m\Box C_n)$ be the domination number of the Cartesian product of directed cycles $C_m$ and $C_n$ for $m,n\geq2$. Shaheen [] and Liu and al.[ ], [ ] determined the value of $γ(C_m\Box C_n)$ when $m \leq 6$ and when both $m$ and $n$ $\equiv 0$ $(mod\: 3)$. In this article we give, in general, the value of $γ(C_m\Box C_n)$ when $m\equiv 2$ $(mod\: 3)$ and improve the known lower bound for most of the remaining cases. We also disprove the conjectured formula for the case $m$ $\equiv 0$ $(mod\: 3)$ appearing in \cite{}

Edge Decompositions of Hypercubes by Paths and by Cycles
Published • View PublicationBIB
If $H$ is (or is isomorphic to) a subgraph of $G$, $H$ is said to {\it divide} $G$ if there is an edge-decomposition of $G$ by copies of $E(H)$, the edge set of $H$. A more restrictive version of this is when there is a subgroup ${\cal H}$ of {\rm Aut} $(G)$, the automorphism group of $G$, such that the copies of $E(H)$ are the translates of $E(H)$ by the elements of ${\cal H}$. In a paper by the second author, this situation was described by saying that $H$, or more precisely $E(H)$, is a {\it fundamental} set for $G$. Many authors have studied the notion of divisibility for various graphs, and in particular for various subgraphs of hypercubes, such as paths, trees, and cycles. We continue such a study in this paper; both for divisibilty, and, when possible, for fundamental sets. The final section of the paper lists our main results.

Maximal hypercubes in Fibonacci and Lucas cubes
Published • View PublicationBIB
The Fibonacci cube $Γ_n$ is the subgraph of the hypercube induced by the binary strings that contain no two consecutive 1's. The Lucas cube $Λ_n$ is obtained from $Γ_n$ by removing vertices that start and end with 1. We characterize maximal induced hypercubes in $Γ_n$ and $Λ_n$ and deduce for any $p\leq n$ the number of maximal $p$-dimensional hypercubes in these graphs.
