Graph connectivity with fixed endpoints in the random-connection model
Published in Prob. Eng. Inf. Sci. 39 (2025) 370-396 • View PublicationBIB
We consider the count of subgraphs with an arbitrary configuration of endpoints in the random-connection model based on a Poisson point process on ${\Bbb R}^d$. We present combinatorial expressions for the computation of the cumulants and moments of all orders of such subgraph counts, which allow us to estimate the growth of cumulants as the intensity of the underlying Poisson point process goes to infinity. As a consequence, we obtain a central limit theorem with explicit convergence rates under the Kolmogorov distance, and connectivity bounds. Numerical examples are presented using a computer code in SageMath for the closed-form computation of cumulants of any order, for any type of connected subgraph and for any configuration of endpoints in any dimension $d\geq 1$. In particular, graph connectivity estimates, Gram-Charlier expansions for density estimation, and correlation estimates for joint subgraph counting are obtained.

Asymptotic analysis of k-hop connectivity in the 1D unit disk random graph model
Published • View PublicationBIB
We propose an algorithm for the closed-form recursive computation of joint moments and cumulants of all orders for k-hop counts in the 1D unit disk random graph model with Poisson distributed vertices. Our approach uses decompositions of k-hop counts into multiple Poisson stochastic integrals. As a consequence, using the Stein method we derive Berry-Esseen bounds for the asymptotic convergence of renormalized k-hop path counts to the normal distribution as the density of Poisson vertices tends to infinity. Computer codes for the recursive symbolic computation of moments and cumulants are provided in appendix.
Connectivity of 1d random geometric graphs
A 1d random geometric graph (1d RGG) is built by joining a random sample of $n$ points from an interval of the real line with probability $p$. We count the number of $k$-hop paths between two vertices of the graph in the case where the space is the 1d interval $[0,1]$. We show how the $k$-hop path count between two vertices at Euclidean distance $|x-y|$ is in bijection with the volume enclosed by a uniformly random $d$-dimensional lattice path joining the corners of a $(k-1)$-dimensional hyperrectangular lattice. We are able to provide the probability generating function and distribution of this $k$-hop path count as a sum over lattice paths, incorporating the idea of restricted integer partitions with limited number of parts. We therefore demonstrate and describe an important link between spatial random graphs, and lattice path combinatorics, where the $d$-dimensional lattice paths correspond to spatial permutations of the geometric points on the line.

Recursive computation of the Hawkes cumulants
Published • View PublicationBIB
We propose a recursive method for the computation of the cumulants of self-exciting point processes of Hawkes type, based on standard combinatorial tools such as Bell polynomials. This closed-form approach is easier to implement on higher-order cumulants in comparison with existing methods based on differential equations, tree enumeration or martingale arguments. The results are corroborated by Monte Carlo simulations, and also apply to the computation of joint cumulants generated by multidimensional self-exciting processes.

Moments of Poisson stochastic integrals with random integrands
We compute the moment of order n of the Poisson stochastic integral of a random process u over a metric space X as a sum that runs over all partitions of {1,...,n} and involves the addition of points to Poisson configurations. This formula recovers known results in case u is a deterministic function on X.
