Applications of infinite lower triangular matrices and their group structure in combinatorics and the theory of orthogonal polynomials
Our focus is on the set of lower-triangular, infinite matrices that have natural operations like addition, multiplication by a number, and matrix multiplication. With respect to addition this set forms and abelian group while with respect to matrix multiplication, the invertivle elements of the set form a group. The set becomes an algebra (non-commutative in fact) with unity when all three operations are considered together. We indicate important properties of the algebraic structures obtained in this way. In particular, we indicate several sub-groups or sub-rings. Among sub-groups, we consider the group of Riordan matrices and indicate its several sub-groups. We show a variety of examples (approximately 20) of matrices that are composed of the sequences of important polynomial or number families as entries of certain lower-triangular infinite matrices. New, significant relationships between these families can be discovered by applying well-known matrix operations like multiplication and inverse calculation to this representation.
The paper intends to compile numerous simple facts about the lower-triangular matrices, specifically the family of Rionian matrices, and briefly review their properties.
Polynomial identities that involve binomial coefficients, double and rising factorials and their probabilistic interpretations and proofs
We formulate several polynomial identities. One side of these identities has a nice simple form. Whereas the other has a form of a polynomial whose coefficients contain binomial coefficients double factorials or (and) rising factorials. The origins and the proofs of these identities are probabilistic. However, their form suggests universal applications in simplifying expressions. Many useful simplifying formulae are presented in the sequel.
Yet another way of calculating moments of the Kesten's distribution and its consequences for Catalan numbers and Catalan triangles
We calculate moments of the so-called Kesten distribution by means of the expansion of the denominator of the density of this distribution and then integrate all summands with respect to the semicircle distribution. By comparing this expression with the formulae for the moments of Kesten's distribution obtained by other means, we find identities involving polynomials whose power coefficients are closely related to Catalan numbers, Catalan triangles, binomial coefficients. Finally, as applications of these identities we obtain various interesting relations between the aforementioned numbers, also concerning Lucas, Fibonacci and Fine numbers.
Around Poisson--Mehler summation formula
We study polynomials in $x$ and $y$ of degree $n+m:\allowbreak \{Q_{m,n}(x,y|t,q)\}_{n,m\geq 0}$ that appeared recently in the following identity: $γ_{m,n}(x,y|t,q) \allowbreak =\allowbreak γ_{0,0}(x,y|t,q) \allowbreak Q_{m,n}(x,y|t,q) $ where $γ_{m,n}(x,y|t,q) \allowbreak =\allowbreak \sum_{i\geq 0}\frac{t^{i}}{[i]_{q}}H_{i+n}(x|q) H_{m+i}(y|q)$, $\allowbreak $ $\{H_{n}(x|q)}_{n\geq -1}$ are the so-called $q-$% Hermite polynomials (qH). In particular we show that the spaces $span\{Q_{i,n-i}(x,y|t,q) :i=0,...,n\}_{n\geq 0}$ are orthogonal with respect to a certain measure (two-dimensional $(t,q)-$Normal distribution) on the square $\{(x,y):|x|,|y|\leq 2/\sqrt{1-q}\} . $ We study structure of these polynomials expressing them with the help of the so-called Al-Salam--Chihara (ASC) polynomials and showing that they are rational functions of parameters $t$ and $q$. We use them in various infinite expansions that can be viewed as simple generalization of the Poisson-Mehler summation formula. Further we use them in the expansion of the reciprocal of the right hand side of the Poisson-Mehler formula.

We review properties of the $q-$Hermite polynomials and indicate their links with the Chebyshev, Rogers--Szegö, Al-Salam--Chihara, continuous $q-$% utraspherical polynomials. In particular we recall the connection coefficients between these families of polynomials. We also present some useful and important finite and infinite expansions involving polynomials of these families including symmetric and non-symmetric kernels. In the paper we collect scattered throughout literature useful but not widely known facts concerning these polynomials. It is based on 43 positions of predominantly recent literature.
