An explicit formula of hitting times for random walks on graphs
Published in Pure Appl. Math. Q. 10 (2014), 567--581 • View PublicationBIB
We prove an explicit formula of hitting times in terms of enumerations of spanning trees for random walks on general connected graphs. We apply the formula to improve Lawler's bound of hitting times for general graphs, prove a sharp bound of hitting times for adjacent vertices and derive closed formulas of hitting times for some special graphs.
Nodal geometry of graphs on surfaces

We prove two mixed versions of the Discrete Nodal Theorem of Davies et. al. [3] for bounded degree graphs, and for three-connected graphs of fixed genus $g$. Using this we can show that for a three-connected graph satisfying a certain volume-growth condition, the multiplicity of the $n$th Laplacian eigenvalue is at most $2\left[ 6(n-1) + 15(2g-2) \right]^2$. Our results hold for any Schrödinger operator, not just the Laplacian.
Li-Yau inequality on graphs
Published in J. Differential Geom. 99 (2015), no. 3, 359-405 • View PublicationBIB
We prove the Li-Yau gradient estimate for the heat kernel on graphs. The only assumption is a variant of the curvature-dimension inequality, which is purely local, and can be considered as a new notion of curvature for graphs. We compute this curvature for lattices and trees and conclude that it behaves more naturally than the already existing notions of curvature. Moreover, we show that if a graph has non-negative curvature then it has polynomial volume growth. We also derive Harnack inequalities and heat kernel bounds from the gradient estimate, and show how it can be used to strengthen the classical Buser inequality relating the spectral gap and the Cheeger constant of a graph.

Harnack inequalities for graphs with non-negative Ricci curvature
Published • View PublicationBIB
We establish a Harnack inequality for finite connected graphs with non-negative Ricci curvature. As a consequence, we derive an eigenvalue lower bound, extending previous results for Ricci flat graphs.
Homologies of path complexes and digraphs
In this paper we introduce a path complex that can be regarded as a generalization of the notion of a simplicial complex. The main motivation for considering path complexes comes from directed graphs(digraphs). We obtain a new notion of the path homology and cohomology of a digraph.

A brief review on geometry and spectrum of graphs
This is a survey paper. We study the Ricci curvature and spectrum of graphs, as well as the exterior forms and deRahm cohomology on graphs.

Quantum tunneling on graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
We explore the tunneling behavior of a quantum particle on a finite graph, in the presence of an asymptotically large potential. Surprisingly the behavior is governed by the local symmetry of the graph around the wells.
