Counting minimal cutsets and $p_c<1$

We prove two results concerning percolation on general graphs.
- We establish the converse of the classical Peierls argument: if the critical parameter for (uniform) percolation satisfies $p_c<1$, then the number of minimal cutsets of size $n$ separating a given vertex from infinity is bounded above exponentially in $n$. This resolves a conjecture of Babson and Benjamini from 1999.
- We prove that $p_c<1$ for every uniformly transient graph. This solves a problem raised by Duminil-Copin, Goswami, Raoufi, Severo and Yadin, and provides a new proof that $p_c<1$ for every transitive graph of superlinear growth.
Strict inequalities for arm exponents in planar percolation
We discuss a general method to prove quantitative improvements on correlation inequalities and apply it to arm estimates for Bernoulli bond percolation on the square lattice. Our first result is that the two-arm exponent is strictly larger than twice the one-arm exponent and can be seen as a quantitative improvement on the Harris-FKG inequality. This answers a question of Garban and Steif, which was motivated by the study of exceptional times in dynamical percolation. Our second result is that the monochromatic arm exponents are strictly larger than their polychromatic versions, and can be seen as a quantitative improvement on Reimer's main lemma. This second result is not new and was already proved by Beffara and Nolin using a different argument.
Long monotone trails in random edge-labelings of random graphs

Given a graph $G$ and a bijection $f : E(G)\rightarrow \{1, 2, \ldots,e(G)\}$, we say that a trail/path in $G$ is $f$-\emph{increasing} if the labels of consecutive edges of this trail/path form an increasing sequence. More than 40 years ago Chvátal and Komlós raised the question of providing the worst-case estimates of the length of the longest increasing trail/path over all edge orderings of $K_n$. The case of a trail was resolved by Graham and Kleitman, who proved that the answer is $n-1$, and the case of a path is still widely open. Recently Lavrov and Loh proposed to study the average case of this problem in which the edge ordering is chosen uniformly at random. They conjectured (and it was proved by Martinsson) that such an ordering with high probability (whp) contains an increasing Hamilton path.
In this paper we consider random graph $G=G(n,p)$ and its edge ordering chosen uniformly at random. In this setting we determine whp the asymptotics of the number of edges in the longest increasing trail. In particular we prove an average case of the result of Graham and Kleitman, showing that the random edge ordering of $K_n$ has whp an increasing trail of length $(1-o(1))en$ and this is tight. We also obtain an asymptotically tight result for the length of the longest increasing path for random Erdő-Renyi graphs with $p=o(1)$.
Subcritical phase of $d$-dimensional Poisson-Boolean percolation and its vacant set

We prove that the Poisson-Boolean percolation on $\mathbb{R}^d$ undergoes a sharp phase transition in any dimension under the assumption that the radius distribution has a $5d-3$ finite moment (in particular we do not assume that the distribution is bounded). More precisely, we prove that:
-In the whole subcritical regime, the expected size of the cluster of the origin is finite, and furthermore we obtain bounds for the origin to be connected to distance $n$: when the radius distribution has a finite exponential moment, the probability decays exponentially fast in $n$, and when the radius distribution has heavy tails, the probability is equivalent to the probability that the origin is covered by a ball going to distance $n$.
- In the supercritical regime, it is proved that the probability of the origin being connected to infinity satisfies a mean-field lower bound.
The same proof carries on to conclude that the vacant set of Poisson-Boolean percolation on $\mathbb{R}^d$ undergoes a sharp phase transition. This paper belongs to a series of papers using the theory of randomized algorithms to prove sharpness of phase transitions.

We prove that for Voronoi percolation on $\mathbb{R}^d$, there exists $p_c\in[0,1]$ such that
- for $p<p_c$, there exists $c_p>0$ such that $\mathbb{P}_p[0\text{ connected to distance }n]\leq \exp(-c_p n)$,
- there exists $c>0$ such that for $p>p_c$, $\mathbb{P}_p[0\text{ connected to }\infty]\geq c(p-p_c)$.
For dimension 2, this result offers a new way of showing that $p_c(2)=1/2$. This paper belongs to a series of papers using the theory of algorithms to prove sharpness of the phase transition.
Quenched Voronoi percolation

We prove that the probability of crossing a large square in quenched Voronoi percolation converges to 1/2 at criticality, confirming a conjecture of Benjamini, Kalai and Schramm from 1999. The main new tools are a quenched version of the box-crossing property for Voronoi percolation at criticality, and an Efron-Stein type bound on the variance of the probability of the crossing event in terms of the sum of the squares of the influences. As a corollary of the proof, we moreover obtain that the quenched crossing event at criticality is almost surely noise sensitive.
