Characterizing Finite Groups via Subgroup Perfect Codes
A perfect code in a graph $Γ= (V, E)$ is a subset $C$ of $V$ such that no two vertices in $C$ are adjacent and every vertex in $V \setminus C$ is adjacent to exactly one vertex in $C$. A subgroup $H$ of a group $G$ is called a subgroup perfect code of $G$ if it is a perfect code in some Cayley graph of $G$. In this paper, we study the set $Δ(G)$ of conjugacy classes of nontrivial subgroup perfect codes of $G$, with a focus on its relation to $|π(G)|$, the number of prime divisors of $|G|$. We prove that $|Δ(G)| \ge |π(G)|$ with only three exceptional families, which leads to the natural question: when is this bound attained or nearly attained? We completely classify finite groups $G$ satisfying $|Δ(G)| = |π(G)|$ and $|Δ(G)| = |π(G)| + 1$, and we further characterize all insolvable groups with $|Δ(G)| \le 6$. Our approach is based on the classification of primitive groups of odd degree, as well as the classification of primitive groups of square-free degree.

Sufficient conditions for 2-dimensional global rigidity
Published • View PublicationBIB
The 2-dimensional global rigidity has been shown to be equivalent to 3-connectedness and redundant rigidity by a combination of two results due to Jackson and Jordán, and Connelly, respectively. By the characterization, a theorem of Lovász and Yemini implies that every $6$-connected graph is redundantly rigid, and thus globally rigid. The 6-connectedness is best possible, since there exist infinitely many 5-connected non-rigid graphs. Jackson, Servatius and Servatius used the idea of ``essential connectivity'' and proved that every 4-connected ``essentially 6-connected'' graph is redundantly rigid and thus global rigid. Since 3-connectedness is a necessary condition of global rigidity, it is interesting to study 3-connected graphs for redundant rigidity and thus globally rigidity. We utilize a different ``essential connectivity'', and prove that every 3-connected essentially 9-connected graph is redundantly rigid and thus globally rigid. The essential 9-connectedness is best possible. Under this essential connectivity, we also prove that every 4-connected essentially 6-connected graph is redundantly rigid and thus global rigid. Our proofs are based on discharging arguments.

Extremal digraphs on Meyniel-type condition for hamiltonian cycles in balanced bipartite digraphs
Published in Discrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, vol. 23, no. 3, Graph Theory (January 20, 2022) dmtcs:5851 • View PublicationBIB
Let $D$ be a strong balanced digraph on $2a$ vertices. Adamus et al. have proved that $D$ is hamiltonian if $d(u)+d(v)\ge 3a$ whenever $uv\notin A(D)$ and $vu\notin A(D)$. The lower bound $3a$ is tight. In this paper, we shall show that the extremal digraph on this condition is two classes of digraphs that can be clearly characterized. Moreover, we also show that if $d(u)+d(v)\geq 3a-1$ whenever $uv\notin A(D)$ and $vu\notin A(D)$, then $D$ is traceable. The lower bound $3a-1$ is tight.
