We continue the study of token sliding reconfiguration graphs of independent sets initiated by the authors in an earlier paper (arXiv:2203.16861). Two of the topics in that paper were to study which graphs $G$ are token sliding graphs and which properties of a graph are inherited by a token sliding graph. In this paper we continue this study specializing on the case of when $G$ and/or its token sliding graph $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$ is a tree or forest, where $k$ is the size of the independent sets considered. We consider two problems. The first is to find necessary and sufficient conditions on $G$ for $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$ to be a forest. The second is to find necessary and sufficient conditions for a tree or forest to be a token sliding graph. For the first problem we give a forbidden subgraph characterization for the cases of $k=2,3$. For the second problem we show that for every $k$-ary tree $T$ there is a graph $G$ for which $\mathsf{TS}_{k+1}(G)$ is isomorphic to $T$. A number of other results are given along with a join operation that aids in the construction of $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$-graphs.
Cops and robbers pebbling in graphs
Here we merge the two fields of Cops and Robbers and Graph Pebbling to introduce the new topic of Cops and Robbers Pebbling. Both paradigms can be described by moving tokens (the cops) along the edges of a graph to capture a special token (the robber). In Cops and Robbers, all tokens move freely, whereas, in Graph Pebbling, some of the chasing tokens disappear with movement while the robber is stationary. In Cops and Robbers Pebbling, some of the chasing tokens (cops) disappear with movement, while the robber moves freely. We define the cop pebbling number of a graph to be the minimum number of cops necessary to capture the robber in this context, and present upper and lower bounds and exact values, some involving various domination parameters, for an array of graph classes, including paths, cycles, trees, chordal graphs, high girth graphs, and cop-win graphs, as well as graph products. Furthermore we show that the analogous inequality for Graham's Pebbling Conjecture fails for cop pebbling and posit a conjecture along the lines of Meyniel's Cops and Robbers Conjecture that may hold for cop pebbling. We also offer several new problems.
Selection of Centrality Measures Using Self-Consistency and Bridge Axioms

We consider several families of network centrality measures induced by graph kernels, which include some well-known measures and many new ones. The Self-consistency and Bridge axioms, which appeared earlier in the literature, are closely related to certain kernels and one of the families. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for Self-consistency, a sufficient condition for the Bridge axiom, indicate specific measures that satisfy these axioms, and show that under some additional conditions they are incompatible. PageRank centrality applied to undirected networks violates most conditions under study and has a property that according to some authors is ``hard to imagine'' for a centrality measure. We explain this phenomenon. Adopting the Self-consistency or Bridge axiom leads to a drastic reduction in survey time in the culling method designed to select the most appropriate centrality measures.

For a number $\ell\geq 2$, let $\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ denote the family of graphs which have girth $2\ell+1$ and have no odd hole with length greater than $2\ell+1$. Plummer and Zha conjectured that every 3-connected and internally 4-connected graph in $\mathcal{G}_2$ is 3-colorable. Wu, Xu, and Xu conjectured that every graph in $\bigcup_{\ell\geq2}\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ is 3-colorable. Chudnovsky et al. and Wu et al., respectively, proved that every graph in $\mathcal{G}_2$ and $\mathcal{G}_3$ is 3-colorable. In this paper, we prove that every graph in $\bigcup_{\ell\geq5}\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ is 3-colorable.
Chordal graphs with bounded tree-width
Given $t\geq 2$ and $0\leq k\leq t$, we prove that the number of labelled $k$-connected chordal graphs with $n$ vertices and tree-width at most $t$ is asymptotically $c n^{-5/2} γ^n n!$, as $n\to\infty$, for some constants $c,γ>0$ depending on $t$ and $k$. Additionally, we show that the number of $i$-cliques ($2\leq i\leq t$) in a uniform random $k$-connected chordal graph with tree-width at most $t$ is normally distributed as $n\to\infty$.
The asymptotic enumeration of graphs of tree-width at most $t$ is wide open for $t\geq 3$. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first non-trivial class of graphs with bounded tree-width where the asymptotic counting problem is solved. Our starting point is the work of Wormald [Counting Labelled Chordal Graphs, Graphs and Combinatorics (1985)], were an algorithm is developed to obtain the exact number of labelled chordal graphs on $n$ vertices.
Quasi-crystals for arbitrary root systems and associated generalizations of the hypoplactic monoid
The hypoplactic monoid was introduced by Krob and Thibon through a presentation and through quasi-ribbon tableaux and an insertion algorithm. Just as Kashiwara crystals enriched the structure of the plactic monoid and allowed its generalization, the first and third authors of this paper introduced a construction of the hypoplactic monoid by identifying vertices in a quasi-crystal graph derived from the crystal graph associated to the general linear Lie algebra. Although this construction is based on Kashiwara's work, it cannot be extended to other crystal graphs, since the analogous quasi-Kashiwara operators on words do not admit a recursive definition. This paper addresses these issues. A general notion of quasi-crystal is introduced, followed by a study of its properties and relation with crystals. A combinatorial study of quasi-crystals is then made by associating a quasi-crystal graph to each quasi-crystal, which for the class of seminormal quasi-crystals results in a one-to-one correspondence. To model the binary operation of the hypoplactic monoid by quasi-crystals, a notion of quasi-tensor product of quasi-crystals is introduced, along with a combinatorial way of computing it similar to the signature rule for the tensor product of crystals. This framework allows the generalization of the classical hypoplactic monoid to a family of hypoplactic monoids associated to the various simple Lie algebras. The quasi-crystal structure is then used to establish algebraic properties of the hypoplactic monoid associated to the symplectic Lie algebra.

A set $S$ of isometric paths of a graph $G$ is ``$v$-rooted'', where $v$ is a vertex of $G$, if $v$ is one of the endpoints of all the isometric paths in $S$. The isometric path complexity of a graph $G$, denoted by $ipco{G}$, is the minimum integer $k$ such that there exists a vertex $v\in V(G)$ satisfying the following property: the vertices of any single isometric path $P$ of $G$ can be covered by $k$ many $v$-rooted isometric paths.
First, we provide an $O(n^2 m)$-time algorithm to compute the isometric path complexity of a graph with $n$ vertices and $m$ edges. Then we show that the isometric path complexity remains bounded for graphs in three seemingly unrelated graph classes, namely, hyperbolic graphs, (theta, prism, pyramid)-free graphs, and outerstring graphs.
There is a direct algorithmic consequence of having small isometric path complexity. Specifically, we show that if the isometric path complexity of a graph $G$ is bounded by a constant, then there exists a polynomial-time constant-factor approximation algorithm for ISOMETRIC PATH COVER, whose objective is to cover all vertices of a graph with a minimum number of isometric paths. This applies to all the above graph classes.

We show that the complete graphs on $24s+21$ vertices have decompositions into two edge-disjoint subgraphs, each of which triangulates an orientable surface. The special case where the two surfaces are homeomorphic solves a generalized Earth-Moon problem for that surface. Unlike previous constructions, these pairs of triangular embeddings are derived from index 3 current graphs.

Dirac proved that each $n$-vertex $2$-connected graph with minimum degree at least $k$ contains a cycle of length at least $\min\{2k, n\}$. We consider a hypergraph version of this result. A Berge cycle in a hypergraph is an alternating sequence of distinct vertices and edges $v_1,e_2,v_2, \ldots, e_c, v_1$ such that $\{v_i,v_{i+1}\} \subseteq e_i$ for all $i$ (with indices taken modulo $c$). We prove that for $n \geq k \geq r+2 \geq 5$, every $2$-connected $r$-uniform $n$-vertex hypergraph with minimum degree at least ${k-1 \choose r-1} + 1$ has a Berge cycle of length at least $\min\{2k, n\}$. The bound is exact for all $k\geq r+2\geq 5$.
Maxima of the $Q$-index of non-bipartite graphs: forbidden short odd cycles
Let $G$ be a non-bipartite graph which does not contain any odd cycle of length at most $2k+1$. In this paper, we determine the maximum $Q$-index of $G$ if its order is fixed, and the corresponding extremal graph is uniquely characterized. Moreover, if the size of $G$ is given, the maximum $Q$-index of $G$ and the unique extremal graph are also proved.
On the connectivity and diameter of Token graphs from a vertex induced sub-graph perspective
Token graphs, or symmetric powers of graphs, see \cite{alavi2002survey} and \cite{Fabila-Monroy2012}, are defined on the $k$-combinations of the vertex set of some graph $L$, where edges exist between two such combinations, if their symmetric difference corresponds to an edge in the underlying graph $L$. It has been noted, for example in \cite{AUDENAERT200774}, that these graphs constitute an inherent correspondence between the relationships between random walks and graph invariants, and particle systems and higher order graph properties, employing in particular the structure of vertex induced sub-graphs. In this work, we contribute to this perspective, by giving a synthetic perspective on the vertex connectivity of token graphs, which equals its minimal degree, as well as on their diameter, if the underlying graph $L$ has diameter $2$. Some combinatorial results on the clique-Johnson graph link between $L$ and its token graph are proven as well.
Decreasing behavior of the depth functions of edge ideals

Let $I$ be the edge ideal of a connected non-bipartite graph and $R$ the base polynomial ring. Then $\operatorname{depth} R/I \ge 1$ and $\operatorname{depth} R/I^t = 0$ for $t \gg 1$. We give combinatorial conditions for $\operatorname{depth} R/I^t = 1$ for some $t$ in between and show that the depth function is non-increasing thereafter. Especially, the depth function quickly decreases to 0 after reaching 1. We show that if $\operatorname{depth} R/I = 1$ then $\operatorname{depth} R/I^2 = 0$ and if $\operatorname{depth} R/I^2 = 1$ then $\operatorname{depth} R/I^5 = 0$. Other similar results suggest that if $\operatorname{depth} R/I^t = 1$ then $\operatorname{depth} R/I^{t+3} = 0$. This a surprising phenomenon because the depth of a power can determine a smaller depth of another power. Furthermore, we are able to give a simple combinatorial criterion for $\operatorname{depth} R/I^{(t)} = 1$ for $t \gg 1$ and show that the condition $\operatorname{depth} R/I^{(t)} = 1$ is persistent, where $I^{(t)}$ denotes the $t$-th symbolic powers of $I$.
Supermagic labeling of $C_n\Box C_m$

A supermagic labeling (often also called supermagic labeling) of a graph $G(V,E)$ with $|E|=k$ is a bijection from $E$ to the set of first $k$ positive integers such that the sum of labels of all incident edges of every vertex $x\in V$ is equal to the same integer $c$. An existence of a supermagic labeling of Cartesian product of two cycles, $C_{n}\Box C_m$ for $n,m\geq4$ and both $n,m$ even and for any $C_n\Box C_n$ with $n\geq3$ was proved by Ivančo. Ivančo also conjectured that such labeling is possible for any $C_n\Box C_m$ with $n,m\geq3$. We prove his conjecture for all $n,m$ odd that are not relatively prime.

The square $G^2$ of a graph $G$ is the graph on $V(G)$ with a pair of vertices $uv$ an edge whenever $u$ and $v$ have distance $1$ or $2$ in $G$. Given graphs $G$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(G,H)$ is the minimum $N$ such that whenever the edges of the complete graph $K_N$ are coloured with red and blue, there exists either a red copy of $G$ or a blue copy of $H$. We prove that for all sufficiently large $n$ we have \[R(P_{3n}^2,P_{3n}^2)=R(P_{3n+1}^2,P_{3n+1}^2)=R(C_{3n}^2,C_{3n}^2)=9n-3\mbox{ and } R(P_{3n+2}^2,P_{3n+2}^2)=9n+1.\] We also show that for any $γ>0$ and $Δ$ there exists $β>0$ such that the following holds. If $G$ can be coloured with three colours such that all colour classes have size at most $n$, the maximum degree $Δ(G)$ of $G$ is at most $Δ$, and $G$ has bandwidth at most $βn$, then $R(G,G)\le (3+γ)n$.

We take an elementary and systematic approach to the problem of extending the Tutte polynomial to the setting of embedded graphs. Four notions of embedded graphs arise naturally when considering deletion and contraction operations on graphs on surfaces. We give a description of each class in terms of coloured ribbon graphs. We then identify a universal deletion-contraction invariant (i.e., a `Tutte polynomial') for each class. We relate these to graph polynomials in the literature, including the Bollobás--Riordan, Krushkal, and Las Vergnas polynomials, and give state-sum formulations, duality relations, deleton-contraction relations, and quasi-tree expansions for each of them.

A polyhedral graph is a $3$-connected planar graph. We find the least possible order $p(k,a)$ of a polyhedral graph containing a $k$-independent set of size $a$ for all positive integers $k$ and $a$. In the case $k = 1$ and $a$ even, we prove that the extremal graphs are exactly the vertex-face (radial) graphs of maximal planar graphs.

Let $F$ be a field and $M_n(F)$ the ring of $n \times n$ matrices over $F$. Given a subset $S$ of $M_n(F)$, the null ideal of $S$ is the set of all polynomials $f$ with coefficients from $M_n(F)$ such that $f(A) = 0$ for all $A \in S$. We say that $S$ is core if the null ideal of $S$ is a two-sided ideal of the polynomial ring $M_n(F)[x]$. We study sufficient conditions under which $S$ is core in the case where $S$ consists of $3 \times 3$ matrices, all of which share the same irreducible characteristic polynomial. In particular, we show that if $F$ is finite with $q$ elements and $|S| \geqslant q^3-q^2+1$, then $S$ is core. As a byproduct of our work, we obtain some results on block Vandermonde matrices, invertible matrix commutators, and graphs defined via an invertible difference relation.
Chebyshev's Sum Inequality and the Zagreb Indices Inequality
In a recent article, Nadeem and Siddique used Chebyshev's sum inequality to establish the Zagreb indices inequality $M_1/n\le M_2/m$ for undirected graphs in the case where the degree sequence $(d_i)$ and the degree-sum sequence $(S_i)$ are similarly ordered.
We show that this is actually not a completely new result and we discuss several related results that also cover similar inequalities for directed graphs, as well as sum-symmetric matrices and Eulerian directed graphs.
The average connectivity matrix of a graph

For a graph $G$ and for two distinct vertices $u$ and $v$, let $κ(u,v)$ be the maximum number of vertex-disjoint paths joining $u$ and $v$ in $G$. The average connectivity matrix of an $n$-vertex connected graph $G$, written $A_{\barκ}(G)$, is an $n\times n$ matrix whose $(u,v)$-entry is $κ(u,v)/{n \choose 2}$ and let $ρ(A_{\barκ}(G))$ be the spectral radius of $A_{\barκ}(G)$. In this paper, we investigate some spectral properties of the matrix. In particular, we prove that for any $n$-vertex connected graph $G$, we have $ρ(A_{\barκ}(G)) \le \frac{4α'(G)}n$, which implies a result of Kim and O \cite{KO} stating that for any connected graph $G$, we have $\barκ(G) \le 2 α'(G)$, where $\barκ(G)=\sum_{u,v \in V(G)}\frac{κ(u,v)}{n\choose 2}$ and $α'(G)$ is the maximum size of a matching in $G$; equality holds only when $G$ is a complete graph with an odd number of vertices. Also, for bipartite graphs, we improve the bound, namely $ρ(A_{\barκ}(G)) \le \frac{(n-α'(G))(4α'(G) - 2)}{n(n-1)}$, and equality in the bound holds only when $G$ is a complete balanced bipartite graph.

This paper contains a description of a connection between the matching arrangement and the matching polyhedron. A bijection between regions of the matching arragement and LP-orientations of the matching polyhedron is constructed. This bijection allows to calculate the number of LP-orientations of the matching polyhedron with the characteristic polynomial of the matching arrangement.
