Let $L$ be an $n\times n$ array whose top left $r\times s$ subarray is filled with $k$ different symbols, each occurring at most once in each row and at most once in each column. We find necessary and sufficient conditions that ensure the remaining cells of $L$ can be filled such that each symbol occurs at most once in each row and at most once in each column, and each symbol occurs a prescribed number of times in $L$. The case where the prescribed number of times each symbol occurs is $n$ was solved by Ryser (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 2 (1951), 550--552), and the case $s=n$ was settled by Goldwasser et al. (J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 130 (2015), 26--41). Our technique leads to a very short proof of the latter.

We present a combinatorial isomorphism between Stasheff associahedra and an inductive cone construction of those complexes given by Loday. We give an alternate description of certain polytopes, known as multiplihedra, which arise in the study of $A_\infty$ maps. We also prove a combinatorial isomorphism between Stasheff associahedra, collapsed multiplihedra and graph cubeahedra for path graphs.

Given two graphs $G$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(G,H)$ is the minimum integer $N$ such that any coloring of the edges of $K_N$ in red or blue yields a red $G$ or a blue $H$. Let $v(G)$ be the number of vertices of $G$ and $χ(G)$ be the chromatic number of $G$. Let $s(G)$ denote the chromatic surplus of $G$, the cardinality of a minimum color class taken over all proper colorings of $G$ with $χ(G)$ colors. Burr showed that for a connected graph $G$ and a graph $H$ with $v(G)\geq s(H)$, $R(G,H) \geq (v(G)-1)(χ(H)-1)+s(H)$. A connected graph $G$ is called $H$-good if $R(G,H)=(v(G)-1)(χ(H)-1)+s(H)$. In this paper, we mainly confirm the Ramsey number for any tree $T_n$ versus $K_m\cup K_l$. Our result yields that $T_n$ is $K_m\cup K_l$-good.
Generating graphs randomly

Graphs are used in many disciplines to model the relationships that exist between objects in a complex discrete system. Researchers may wish to compare a network of interest to a "typical" graph from a family (or ensemble) of graphs which are similar in some way. One way to do this is to take a sample of several random graphs from the family, to gather information about what is "typical". Hence there is a need for algorithms which can generate graphs uniformly (or approximately uniformly) at random from the given family. Since a large sample may be required, the algorithm should also be computationally efficient.
Rigorous analysis of such algorithms is often challenging, involving both combinatorial and probabilistic arguments. We will focus mainly on the set of all simple graphs with a particular degree sequence, and describe several different algorithms for sampling graphs from this family uniformly, or almost uniformly.

Let $G$ be a graph of order $n$ and spectral radius be the largest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix, denoted by $μ(G)$. In this paper, we determine the unique graph with maximum spectral radius among all graphs of order $n$ without containing the $2$-power of a Hamilton cycle.

For $k\ge 1$, the $k$-independence number $α_k$ of a graph is the maximum number of vertices that are mutually at distance greater than $k$. The well-known inertia and ratio bounds for the (1-)independence number $α(=α_1)$ of a graph, due to Cvetković and Hoffman, respectively, were generalized recently for every value of $k$. We show that, for graphs with enough regularity, the polynomials involved in such generalizations are closely related and give exact values for $α_k$, showing a new relationship between the inertia and ratio type bounds. Additionally, we investigate the existence and properties of the extremal case of sets of vertices that are mutually at maximum distance for walk-regular graphs. Finally, we obtain new sharp inertia and ratio type bounds for partially walk-regular graphs by using the predistance polynomials.
On the anti-Ramsey threshold for non-balanced graphs
For graphs $G$ and $H$, we write $G \overset{\mathrm{rb}}{\longrightarrow} H $ if any proper edge-coloring of $G$ contains a rainbow copy of $H$, i.e., a copy where no color appears more than once. Kohayakawa, Konstadinidis and the last author proved that the threshold for $G(n,p) \overset{\mathrm{rb}}{\longrightarrow}H$ is at most $n^{-1/m_2(H)}$. Previous results have matched the lower bound for this anti-Ramsey threshold for cycles and complete graphs with at least 5 vertices. Kohayakawa, Konstadinidis and the last author also presented an infinite family of graphs $H$ for which the anti-Ramsey threshold is asymptotically smaller than $n^{-1/m_2(H)}$. In this paper, we devise a framework that provides a richer and more complex family of such graphs that includes all the previously known examples.

Fix a graph $G$, a list-assignment $L$ for $G$, and $L$-colorings $α$ and $β$. An $L$-recoloring sequence, starting from $α$, recolors a single vertex at each step, so that each resulting intermediate coloring is a proper $L$-coloring. An $L$-recoloring sequence transforms $α$ to $β$ if its initial coloring is $α$ and its final coloring is $β$. We prove there exists an $L$-recoloring sequence that transforms $α$ to $β$ and recolors each vertex at most a constant number of times if (i) $G$ is triangle-free and planar and $L$ is a 7-assignment, or (ii) $\mathrm{mad}(G)<17/5$ and $L$ is a 6-assignment or (iii) $\mathrm{mad}(G)<22/9$ and $L$ is a 4-assignment. Parts (i) and (ii) confirm conjectures of Dvořák and Feghali.
The Polyhedral Geometry of Pivot Rules and Monotone Paths

Motivated by the analysis of the performance of the simplex method we study the behavior of families of pivot rules of linear programs. We introduce normalized-weight pivot rules which are fundamental for the following reasons: First, they are memory-less, in the sense that the pivots are governed by local information encoded by an arborescence. Second, many of the most used pivot rules belong to that class, and we show this subclass is critical for understanding the complexity of all pivot rules. Finally, normalized-weight pivot rules can be parametrized in a natural continuous manner.
We show the existence of two polytopes, the pivot rule polytopes and the neighbotopes, that capture the behavior of normalized-weight pivot rules on polytopes and linear programs. We explain their face structure in terms of multi-arborescences. We compute upper bounds on the number of coherent arborescences, that is, vertices of our polytopes.
Beyond optimization, our constructions provide new perspectives on classical geometric combinatorics. We introduce a normalized-weight pivot rule, we call the max-slope pivot rule which generalizes the shadow-vertex pivot rule. The corresponding pivot rule polytopes and neighbotopes refine monotone path polytopes of Billera--Sturmfels. Moreover special cases of our polytopes yield permutahedra, associahedra, and multiplihedra. For the greatest improvement pivot rules we draw connections to sweep polytopes and polymatroids.

Let $\ell$ and $p$ be two distinct primes. We study the $p$-adic valuation of the number of spanning trees in an abelian $\ell$-tower of connected multigraphs. This is analogous to the classical theorem of Washington--Sinnott on the growth of the $p$-part of the class group in a cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_\ell$-extension of abelian extensions of $\mathbb{Q}$. Furthermore, we show that under certain hypotheses, the number of primes dividing the number of spanning trees is unbounded in such a tower.

We study the problem of Embedding Wirelength of $n$-dimensional Hypercube $Q_n$ into Cylinder $C_{2^{n_1}}\times P_{2^{n_2}}$, where $n_1+ n_2=n$, called EWHC. We show that such wirelength corresponding to Gray code embedding is $2^{n_2}(3\cdot 2^{2n_1-3}-2^{n_1-1})+2^{n_1} (2^{2n_2-1}-2^{n_2-1})$. In addition, we prove that Gray code embedding is an optimal strategy of EWHC.

A map is called a {\it $p$-map} if it has a prime $p$-power vertices.
An orientably-regular (resp. A regular ) $p$-map is called {\it solvable} if the group $G^+$ of all orientation-preserving automorphisms (resp. the group $G$ of automorphisms) is solvable; and called {\it normal} if $G^+$ (resp. $G$) contains the normal Sylow $p$-subgroup.
In this paper, it will be proved that both orientably-regular $p$-maps and regular $p$-maps are solvable and except for few cases that $p\in \{2, 3\}$, they are normal.
Moreover, nonnormal $p$-maps will be characterized and some properties and constructions of normal $p$-maps will be given.

A graphical regular representation (GRR) of a group $G$ is a Cayley graph of $G$ whose full automorphism group is equal to the right regular permutation representation of $G$. Towards a proof of the conjecture that only finitely many finite simple groups have no cubic GRR, this paper shows that $\mathrm{PSU}_3(q)$ has a cubic GRR if and only if $q\geq4$. Moreover, a cubic GRR of $\mathrm{PSU}_3(q)$ is constructed for each of these $q$.

Let $H=(V(H),E(H))$ be a graph. A $k$-coloring of $H$ is a mapping $π: V(H) \longrightarrow \{1,2,\ldots, k\}$, if each color class induces a $K_2$-free subgraph. For a graph $G$ of order at least $2$, a $G$-free $k$-coloring of $H$, is a mapping $π: V(H) \longrightarrow \{1,2,\ldots,k\}$, so that the induced subgraph by each color class of $π$, contains no copy of $G$. The $G$-free chromatic number of $H$, is the minimum number $k$, so that it has a $G$-free $k$-coloring, and denoted by $χ_G(H)$. In this paper, we give some bounds and attributes on the $G$-free chromatic number of graphs, in terms of the number of vertices, maximum degree, minimum degree, and chromatic number. Our main results are the Nordhaus-Gaddum-type theorem for the $\G$-free chromatic number of a graph.
Some bounds on the size of Maximum $G$-free sets in graph

For given graph $H$, the independence number $α(H)$ of $H$, is the size of the maximum independent set of $V(H)$. Finding the maximum independent set in a graph is a NP-hard problem. Another version of the independence number is defined as the size of the maximum induced forest of $H$, and called the forest number of $H$, and denoted by $f(H)$. Finding $f(H)$ is also a NP-hard problem. Suppose that $H=(V(H),E(H))$ be a graph, and $\G$ be a family of graphs, a graph $H$ has a $\G$-free $k$-coloring if there exists a decomposition of $V(H)$ into sets $V_i$, $i-1,2,\ldots,k$, so that $G\nsubseteq H[V_i]$ for each $i$, and $G\in\G$. $S\subseteq V(H)$ is $G$-free, where the subgraph of $H$ induced by $S$, be $G$-free, i.e. it contains no copy of $G$. Finding a maximum subset of $H$, so that $H[S]$ be a $G$-free graph is a very hard problem as well. In this paper, we study the generalized version of the independence number of a graph. Also giving some bounds about the size of the maximum $G$-free subset of graphs is another purpose of this article.
Multipartite Ramsey number $m_j(K_m, nK_2)$
Assume that $K_{j\times n}$ be a complete, multipartite graph consisting of $j$ partite sets and $n$ vertices in each partite set. For given graphs $G_1, G_2,\ldots, G_n$, the multipartite Ramsey number (M-R-number) $m_j(G_1, G_2, \ldots,G_n)$ is the smallest integer $t$ such that for any $n$-edge-coloring $(G^1,G^2,\ldots, G^n)$ of the edges of $K_{j\times t}$, $G^i$ contains a monochromatic copy of $G_i$ for at least one $i$. The size of M-R-number $m_j(nK_2, C_m)$ for $j, n\geq 2$ and $4\leq m\leq 6$, the size of M-R-number $m_j(nK_2, C_7)$ for $j \geq 2$ and $n\geq 2$, the size of M-R-number $m_j(nK_2,K_3)$, for each $j,n\geq 2$, the size of M-R-number $m_j(K_3,K_3, n_1K_2,n_2K_,\ldots,n_iK_2)$ for $j \leq 6$ and $i,n_i\geq 1$ and the size of M-R-number $m_j(K_3,K_3, nK_2)$ for $j \geq 2$ and $n\geq 1$ have been computed in several papers up to now. In this article we obtain the values of M-R-number $m_j(K_m, nK_2)$, for each $j,n\geq 2$ and each $m\geq 4$.

For arbitrary semimetric space $(X, d)$ and disjoint proximinal subsets $A$, $B$ of $X$ we define the proximinal graph as a bipartite graph with parts $A$ and $B$ whose edges $\{a, b\}$ satisfy the equality $d(a, b) = \operatorname{dist}(A, B)$. We characterize the semimetric spaces whose proximinal graphs have at most one edge and the semimetric spaces whose proximinal graphs have the vertices with degree at most $1$ only. This allows us to describe the necessary and sufficient conditions for uniqueness of the best proximity pairs and best approximations.
