Combinatorial Hopf algebra for the Ben Geloun-Rivasseau tensor field theory
Published in Seminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire 70 (2014), B70d • Search Publication
The Ben Geloun-Rivasseau quantum field theoretical model is the first tensor model shown to be perturbatively renormalizable. We define here an appropriate Hopf algebra describing the combinatorics of this new tensorial renormalization. The structure we propose is significantly different from the previously defined Connes-Kreimer combinatorial Hopf algebras due to the involved combinatorial and topological properties of the tensorial Feynman graphs. In particular, the 2- and 4-point function insertions must be defined to be non-trivial only if the superficial divergence degree of the associated Feynman integral is conserved.
Recipe theorem for the Tutte polynomial for matroids, renormalization group-like approach
Published in Advances in Applied Mathematics 51 (2013), 345-358 • View PublicationBIB
Using a quantum field theory renormalization group-like differential equation, we give a new proof of the recipe theorem for the Tutte polynomial for matroids. The solution of such an equation is in fact given by some appropriate characters of the Hopf algebra of isomorphic classes of matroids, characters which are then related to the Tutte polynomial for matroids. This Hopf algebraic approach also allows to prove, in a new way, a matroid Tutte polynomial convolution formula appearing in W. Kook {\it et. al., J. Comb. Series} {\bf B 76} (1999).

Combinatorial Hopf algebraic description of the multiscale renormalization in quantum field theory
Published in Seminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire 70 (2014), B70c • Search Publication
We define in this paper several Hopf algebras describing the combinatorics of the so-called multi-scale renormalization in quantum field theory. After a brief recall of the main mathematical features of multi-scale renormalization, we define assigned graphs, that are graphs with appropriate decorations for the multi-scale framework. We then define Hopf algebras on these assigned graphs and on the Gallavotti-Nicolò trees, particular class of trees encoding the supplementary informations of the assigned graphs. Several morphisms between these combinatorial Hopf algebras and the Connes-Kreimer algebra are given. Finally, scale dependent couplings are analyzed via this combinatorial algebraic setting.

Tensor models, a quantum field theoretical particularization
Published in Proceedings of the Romanian Academy A 13 (2012), pag. 225-234 • Search Publication
Random matrix models have been extensively studied in mathematical physics and have proven useful in combinatorics. In this review paper we introduce a generalization of these models to a class of tensor models. As the topology and combinatorics of these tensor models are much more complex than those of matrix models, a first quantum field theoretical (QFT) proposition for simplifying them was recently proposed in R. Gurau (2011). Here, we review a different QFT simplification.

Combinatorics of random tensor models
Published in Proceedings of the Romanian Academy A, vol. 13, no. 1, pages 27-31, 2012 • Search Publication
In this short review we introduce group field theory, a particular class of random tensor models, which represents nowadays one of the candidates for a fundamental theory of quantum gravity. We insist on the combinatorial richness of associated structures, namely tensor graphs, natural generalization of ribbon graph (or combinatorial maps).

Multi-orientable Group Field Theory
Published in J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 45 (2012) 165401 • View PublicationBIB
Group Field Theories (GFT) are quantum field theories over group manifolds; they can be seen as a generalization of matrix models. GFT Feynman graphs are tensor graphs generalizing ribbon graphs (or combinatorial maps); these graphs are dual not only to manifolds. In order to simplify the topological structure of these various singularities, colored GFT was recently introduced and intensively studied since. We propose here a different simplification of GFT, which we call multi-orientable GFT. We study the relation between multi-orientable GFT Feynman graphs and colorable graphs. We prove that tadfaces and some generalized tadpoles are absent. Some Feynman amplitude computations are performed. A few remarks on the renormalizability of both multi-orientable and colorable GFT are made. A generalization from three-dimensional to four-dimensional theories is also proposed.

Some combinatorial aspects of quantum field theory
Published in Seminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire, B65g (2012) • Search Publication
In this short survey we present the appearance of some combinatorial notions in quantum field theory. We first focus on topological graph polynomials (the Tutte polynomial and its multivariate version) and their relation with the parametric representation of the commutative $Φ^4$ field theory. We then generalize this to ribbon graphs and present the relation of the Bollobás-Riordan polynomial with the parametric representation of some $Φ^4$ field theory on the non-commutative Moyal space. We also review the rôle played by the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra as the combinatorial backbone of the renormalization process in field theories. We then show how this generalizes to the scalar $Φ^4$ field theory implemented on the non-commutative Moyal space. Finally, some perspectives for the further generalization of these tools to quantum gravity tensor models are briefly sketched.

Generalization of the Bollobás-Riordan polynomial for tensor graphs
Published in J. Math. Phys. 52, 073514 (2011) • View PublicationBIB
Tensor models are used nowadays for implementing a fundamental theory of quantum gravity. We define here a polynomial $\mathcal T$ encoding the supplementary topological information. This polynomial is a natural generalization of the Bollobás-Riordan polynomial (used to characterize matrix graphs) and is different of the Gur\uau polynomial, (R. Gur\uau, "Topological Graph Polynomials in Colored Group Field Theory", Annales Henri Poincare {\bf 11}, 565-584 (2010)) defined for a particular class of tensor graphs, the colorable ones. The polynomial $\mathcal T$ is defined for both colorable and non-colorable graphs and it is proved to satisfy the contraction/deletion relation. A non-trivial example of a non-colorable graphs is analyzed.

Combinatorial Hopf Algebras in (Noncommutative) Quantum Field Theory
Published in Rom.J.Phys.55:1142-1155,2010 • Search Publication
We briefly review the rôle played by algebraic structures like combinatorial Hopf algebras in the renormalizability of (noncommutative) quantum field theory. After sketching the commutative case, we analyze the noncommutative Grosse-Wulkenhaar model.
