Unbalanced spectral Turán problem for color-critical graphs with prescribed large maximum degree
Let $F$ be a connected color-critical graph with $χ(F)=r+1\ge4$, let $S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}=(n-Δ)K_1\vee T(Δ,r-1)$. We determine the graph of maximum adjacency spectral radius among all $n$-vertex $F$-free graphs with prescribed maximum degree $Δ$. There is a constant $s_F\in[0,1)$ such that, for all sufficiently large $n$, $\left\lceil\frac{(r-1)n}{r}\right\rceil\le Δ\le n-Θ(n^{s_F})$ implies that every $n$-vertex $F$-free graph $G$ with $Δ(G)=Δ$ satisfies $ρ(G)\le ρ\bigl(S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}\bigr)$, with equality if and only if $G\cong S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}$. This is the spectral counterpart of the edge theorem of [European J. Combin. 106 (2022), 103576.] and extends the clique result in [arXiv:2608.26634, 2026.]. This result also provides a benchmark for unbalanced spectral Turán problems arising from other extremal parameters.

Unbalanced Turán and spectral Turán problems with prescribed large maximum degree
Classical Turán-type problems determine the maximum number of edges and spectral radius of an $n$-vertex $F$-free graph without a degree constraint. We study the corresponding problems in the class of $n$-vertex $F$-free graphs $G$ with prescribed maximum degree $Δ(G)=Δ$. Let $χ(F)=r+1\ge3$ and $\lceil(r-1)n/r\rceil\leΔ\le n-1$. The maximum-degree condition leads to the complete $r$-partite graph $S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}=(n-Δ)K_1\vee T(Δ,r-1)$, whose part of size $n-Δ$ is generally smaller than the other parts; this is the source of the unbalanced Turán problem considered here. Let $\mathrm{ex}_F(n,Δ)$ and $\mathrm{spex}_F(n,Δ)$ denote the maximum number of edges and adjacency spectral radius, respectively, in this class. For $F=K_{r+1}$, we prove that $S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}$ is the unique extremal graph for both parameters. For a general graph $F$, let $a(F)$ be the minimum size of an independent set $I$ such that $χ(F-I)\le r$. If $a(F)=1$, we prove edge and spectral stability with respect to $S_{n,Δ}^{(r)}$. If $a(F)>1$, the extremal values have the usual Erdős--Stone--Simonovits asymptotics, and the edge- and spectral-extremal graphs are $o(n^2)$-close to $T(n,r)$. Finally, for a finite forbidden family, we prove that a decomposition-family edge bound of order $O(n^{1+s})$ yields a spectral-radius bound with error term $O(n^s)$, where $0\le s<1$. This can be used to obtain spectral-radius estimates from decomposition-family bounds in other unbalanced Turán problems.

Two-disjoint-cycle-cover vertex pancyclicity of split-star networks
Let $r_1$ and $r_2$ be positive integers with $r_1 \le r_2$. A graph $G$ is called $2$-DCC vertex $[r_1,r_2]$-pancyclic if, for any two distinct vertices of $G$ and any integer $\ell \in [r_1,r_2]$, there exist two vertex-disjoint cycles of lengths $\ell$ and $|V(G)|-\ell$, respectively, containing the two vertices separately. In this paper, we investigate the two-disjoint-cycle-cover vertex pancyclicity of the split-star network $S_n^2$. We prove that $S_n^2$ is $2$-DCC vertex $[3,n!/2]$-pancyclic for $n\ge4$.

Eigenvalues and spanning trees with constrained degree
In this paper, we study some spanning trees with bounded degree and leaf degree from eigenvalues. For any integer $k\geq2$, a $k$-tree is a spanning tree in which every vertex has degree no more than $k$. Let $T$ be a spanning tree of a connected graph. The leaf degree of $T$ is the maximum number of end-vertices attached to $v$ in $T$ for any $v\in V(T)$. By referring to the technique shown in [Eigenvalues and $[a,b]$-factors in regular graphs, J. Graph Theory. 100 (2022) 458-469], for an $r$-regular graph $G$, we provide an upper bound for the fourth largest adjacency eigenvalue of $G$ to guarantee the existence of a $k$-tree. Moreover, for a $t$-connected graph, we prove a tight sufficient condition for the existence of a spanning tree with leaf degree at most $k$ in terms of spectral radius. This generalizes a result of Theorem 1.5 in [Spectral radius and spanning trees of graphs, Discrete Math. 346 (2023) 113400]. Finally, for a general graph $G$, we present two sufficient conditions for the existence of a spanning tree with leaf degree at most $k$ via the Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$ and the spectral radius of the complement of $G$, respectively.
Fast Matrix Multiplication Without Tears: A Constraint Programming Approach
It is known that the multiplication of an $N \times M$ matrix with an $M \times P$ matrix can be performed using fewer multiplications than what the naive $NMP$ approach suggests. The most famous instance of this is Strassen's algorithm for multiplying two $2\times 2$ matrices in 7 instead of 8 multiplications. This gives rise to the constraint satisfaction problem of fast matrix multiplication, where a set of $R < NMP$ multiplication terms must be chosen and combined such that they satisfy correctness constraints on the output matrix. Despite its highly combinatorial nature, this problem has not been exhaustively examined from that perspective, as evidenced for example by the recent deep reinforcement learning approach of AlphaTensor. In this work, we propose a simple yet novel Constraint Programming approach to find non-commutative algorithms for fast matrix multiplication or provide proof of infeasibility otherwise. We propose a set of symmetry-breaking constraints and valid inequalities that are particularly helpful in proving infeasibility. On the feasible side, we find that exploiting solver performance variability in conjunction with a sparsity-based problem decomposition enables finding solutions for larger (feasible) instances of fast matrix multiplication. Our experimental results using CP Optimizer demonstrate that we can find fast matrix multiplication algorithms for matrices up to $3\times 3$ in a short amount of time.

The minimum spectral radius of graphs with a given domination number
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $\mathbb{G}_{n,γ}$ be the set of simple and connected graphs on $n$ vertices and with domination number $γ$. The graph with minimum spectral radius among $\mathbb{G}_{n,γ}$ is called the minimizer graph. In this paper, we first prove that the minimizer graph of $\mathbb{G}_{n,γ}$ must be a tree. Moreover, for $γ\in\{1,2,3,\lceil\frac{n}{3}\rceil,\lfloor\frac{n}{2}\rfloor\}$, we characterize all minimizer graphs in $\mathbb{G}_{n,γ}$.

On the $α$-spectral radius of the $k$-uniform supertrees
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $G$ be a $k$-uniform hypergraph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. A connected and acyclic hypergraph is called a supertree. For $0\leqα<1$, the $α$-spectral radius of $G$ is the largest $H$-eigenvalue of $αD(G)+(1-α)A(G)$, where $D(G)$ and $A(G)$ are the diagonal tensor of the degrees and the adjacency tensor of $G$, respectively. In this paper, we determine the unique supertrees with the maximum $α$-spectral radius among all $k$-uniform supertrees with $m$ edges and independence number $β$ for $\lceil\frac{m(k-1)+1}{k}\rceil\leqβ\leq m$, among all $k$-uniform supertrees with given degree sequences, and among all $k$-uniform supertrees with $m$ edges and matching number $μ$ for $1\leqμ\leq\lfloor\frac{m(k-1)+1}{k}\rfloor$, respectively.

The maximum $A_α$-spectral radius of $t$-connected graphs with bounded matching number
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $G$ be a graph with adjacency matrix $A(G)$ and let $D(G)$ be a diagonal matrix of the degrees of $G$. In 2017, Nikiforov defined the $A_α$-matrix of $G$ as \begin{equation*} A_α(G)=αG)+(1-α)A(G), \end{equation*}d where $α\in[0,1]$ is an arbitrary real number. The largest eigenvalue of $A_α(G)$ is called the $A_α$-spectral radius of $G$. Let $n$, $t$, $k$ be positive integers, satisfying $t\geq1$, $k\geq2$, $n\geq k+2$, and $n\equiv k$ (mod $2$). In this paper, for $α\in[0,\frac{1}{2}]$, we determine the extremal graphs with the maximum $A_α$-spectral radius among all $t$-connected graphs on $n$ vertices with matching number $\frac{n-k}{2}$ at most. This generalizes some results of O (2021) and Zhang (2022).

Distance signless Laplacian spectral radius and perfect matching in graphs and bipartite graphs
The distance matrix $\mathcal{D}$ of a connected graph $G$ is the matrix indexed by the vertices of $G$ which entry $\mathcal{D}_{i,j}$ equals the distance between the vertices $v_i$ and $v_j$. The distance signless Laplacian matrix $\mathcal{Q}(G)$ of graph $G$ is defined as $\mathcal{Q}(G)=Diag(Tr)+\mathcal{D}(G)$, where $Diag(Tr)$ is the diagonal matrix of the vertex transmissions in $G$. The largest eigenvalue of $\mathcal{Q}(G)$ is called the distance signless Laplacian spectral radius of $G$, written as $η_1(G)$. And a perfect matching in a graph is a set of disadjacent edges covering every vertex of $G$. In this paper, we present two suffcient conditions in terms of the distance signless Laplacian sepectral radius for the exsitence of perfect matchings in graphs and bipatite graphs.

Sharp bounds on the zeroth-order general Randić index of trees in terms of domination number
Published • View PublicationBIB
The zeroth-order general Randić index of graph $G=(V_G,E_G)$, denoted by $^0R_α(G)$, is the sum of items $(d_{v})^α$ over all vertices $v\in V_G$, where $α$ is a pertinently chosen real number. In this paper, we obtain the sharp upper and lower bounds on $^0R_α$ of trees with a domination number $γ$, in intervals $α\in(-\infty,0)\cup(1,\infty)$ and $α\in(0,1)$, respectively. The corresponding extremal graphs of these bounds are also characterized.

Signless Laplacian spectral radius and matching in graphs
The signless Laplacian matrix of a graph $G$ is given by $Q(G)=D(G)+A(G)$, where $D(G)$ is a diagonal matrix of vertex degrees and $A(G)$ is the adjacency matrix. The largest eigenvalue of $Q(G)$ is called the signless Laplacian spectral radius, denoted by $q_1=q_1(G)$. In this paper, some properties between the signless Laplacian spectral radius and perfect matching in graphs are establish. Let $r(n)$ be the largest root of equation $x^3-(3n-7)x^2+n(2n-7)x-2(n^2-7n+12)=0$. We show that $G$ has a perfect matching for $n=4$ or $n\geq10$, if $q_1(G)>r(n)$, and for $n=6$ or $n=8$, if $q_1(G)>4+2\sqrt{3}$ or $q_1(G)>6+2\sqrt{6}$ respectively, where $n$ is a positive even integer number. Moreover, there exists graphs $K_{n-3}\vee K_1 \vee \overline{K_2}$ such that $q_1(K_{n-3}\vee K_1 \vee \overline{K_2})=r(n)$ if $n\geq4$, a graph $K_2\vee\overline{K_4}$ such that $q_1(K_2\vee\overline{K_4})=4+2\sqrt{3}$ and a graph $K_3\vee\overline{K_5}$ such that $q_1(K_3\vee\overline{K_5})=6+2\sqrt{6}$. These graphs all have no prefect matching.
