State Transfer and Readout Times for Trees of Diameter 4
We consider the state transfer properties of continuous time quantum walks on trees of diameter 4. We characterize all pairs of strongly cospectral vertices in trees of diameter 4, finding that they fall into pairs of three different types. For each type, we construct an infinite family of diameter 4 trees for which there is pretty good state transfer between the pair of strongly cospectral vertices. Moreover, for two of those types, for each tree in the infinite family, we give an explicit sequence of readout times at which the fidelity of state transfer converges to $1$. For strongly cospectral vertices of the remaining type, we identify a sequence of trees and explicit readout times so that the fidelity of state transfer between the strongly cospectral vertices approaches $1.$
We also prove a result of independent interest: for a graph with the property that the fidelity of state transfer between a pair of vertices at time $t_k$ converges to $1$ as $k \rightarrow \infty,$ then the derivative of the fidelity at $t_k$ converges to $0$ as $k \rightarrow \infty. $
Quantum walks do not like bridges

We consider graphs with two cut vertices joined by a path with one or two edges, and prove that there can be no quantum perfect state transfer between these vertices, unless the graph has no other vertex. We achieve this result by applying the 1-sum lemma for the characteristic polynomial of graphs, the neutrino identities that relate entries of eigenprojectors and eigenvalues, and variational principles for eigenvalues (Cauchy interlacing, Weyl inequalities and Wielandt minimax principle). We see our result as an intermediate step to broaden the understanding of how connectivity plays a key role in quantum walks, and as further evidence of the conjecture that no tree on four or more vertices admits state transfer. We conclude with some open problems.
State Transfer on Paths with Weighted Loops

We consider the fidelity of state transfer on an unweighted path on $n$ vertices, where a loop of weight $w$ has been appended at each of the end vertices. It is known that if $w$ is transcendental, then there is pretty good state transfer from one end vertex to the other; we prove a companion result to that fact, namely that there is a dense subset of $[1,\infty)$ such that if $w$ is in that subset, pretty good state transfer between end vertices is impossible. Under mild hypotheses on $w$ and $t$, we derive upper and lower bounds on the fidelity of state transfer between end vertices at readout time $t$. Using those bounds, we localise the readout times for which that fidelity is close to $1$. We also provide expressions for, and bounds on, the sensitivity of the fidelity of state transfer between end vertices, where the sensitivity is with respect to either the readout time or the weight $w$. Throughout, the results rely on detailed knowledge of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the associated adjacency matrix.
A Bipartite Graph That Is Not the $γ$-Graph of a Bipartite Graph
For a graph $G = (V, E)$, the $γ$-graph of $G$ is the graph whose vertex set is the collection of minimum dominating sets, or $γ$-sets of $G$, and two $γ$-sets are adjacent if they differ by a single vertex and the two different vertices are adjacent in $G$. An open question in $γ$-graphs is whether every bipartite graph is the $γ$-graph of some bipartite graph. We answer this question in the negative by demonstrating that $K_{2, 3}$ is not the $γ$-graph of any bipartite graph.

An Italian dominating function on a (di)graph $G$ with vertex set $V(G)$ is a function $f: V(G) \to \{0, 1, 2\}$ such that every vertex $v \in V(G)$ such that $f(v) = 0$ has an (in)neighbour assigned 2 or two (in)neighbours assigned 1. We complete the investigation of the Italian domination numbers of Cartesian products of directed cycles.
Pretty Good State Transfer and Minimal Polynomials
We examine conditions for a pair of strongly cospectral vertices to have pretty good quantum state transfer in terms of minimal polynomials, and provide cases where pretty good state transfer can be ruled out. We also provide new examples of simple, unweighted graphs exhibiting pretty good state transfer. Finally, we consider modifying paths by adding symmetric weighted edges, and apply these results to this case.

We discuss pretty good state transfer of multiple qubit states and provide a model for considering state transfer of arbitrary states on unmodulated XX-type spin chains. We then provide families of paths and initial states for which we can determine whether there is pretty good state transfer based on the eigenvalue support of the initial state.

For a graph $G = (V, E)$, the $γ$-graph of $G$, denoted $G(γ) = (V(γ), E(γ))$, is the graph whose vertex set is the collection of minimum dominating sets, or $γ$-sets of $G$, and two $γ$-sets are adjacent in $G(γ)$ if they differ by a single vertex and the two different vertices are adjacent in $G$. In this paper, we consider $γ$-graphs of trees. We develop an algorithm for determining the $γ$-graph of a tree, characterize which trees are $γ$-graphs of trees, and further comment on the structure of $γ$-graphs of trees and its connections with Cartesian product graphs, the set of graphs which can be obtained from the Cartesian product of graphs of order at least two.

We give a complete characterization of pretty good state transfer on paths between any pair of vertices with respect to the quantum walk model determined by the XY-Hamiltonian. If $n$ is the length of the path, and the vertices are indexed by the positive integers from 1 to $n$, with adjacent vertices having consecutive indices, then the necessary and sufficient conditions for pretty good state transfer between vertices $a$ and $b$ are that (a) $a + b = n + 1$, (b) $n + 1$ has at most one odd non-trivial divisor, and (c) if $n = 2^t r - 1$, for $r$ odd and $r \neq 1$, then $a$ is a multiple of $2^{t - 1}$.

We study a continous-time quantum walk on a path graph. In this paper, we show that, for any odd prime $p$ and positive integer $t$, the path on $2^t p - 1$ vertices admits pretty good state transfer between vertices $a$ and $n+1-a$ for each $a$ that is a multiple of $2^{t-1}$ with respect to the quantum walk model determined by the XY-Hamiltonian. This gives the first examples of pretty good state transfer occurring between internal vertices on a path, when it does not occur between the extremal vertices.
Mutually orthogonal latin squares with large holes

Two latin squares are orthogonal if, when they are superimposed, every ordered pair of symbols appears exactly once. This definition extends naturally to `incomplete' latin squares each having a hole on the same rows, columns, and symbols. If an incomplete latin square of order $n$ has a hole of order $m$, then it is an easy observation that $n \ge 2m$. More generally, if a set of $t$ incomplete mutually orthogonal latin squares of order $n$ have a common hole of order $m$, then $n \ge (t+1)m$. In this article, we prove such sets of incomplete squares exist for all $n,m \gg 0$ satisfying $n \ge 8(t+1)^2 m$.
