On $S$-packing total colorings
In this paper, we generalize the concept of packing total coloring by introducing a new concept called the $S$-packing total coloring. For a graph $G$ and a non-decreasing sequence $S=(a_1,a_2,\ldots)$ of positive integers, an $S$-packing total coloring of $G$ is a mapping $c: V(G)\cup E(G)\rightarrow \{1,2,\ldots\}$ such that for any two distinct elements $A,B\in V(G)\cup E(G)$ with $c(A)=c(B)=i$, the distance between $A$ and $B$ is at least $a_i+1$. The smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits an $S$-packing total coloring using $k$ colors is called the $S$-packing total chromatic number of $G$, denoted by $χ_S^{''}(G)$. For any sequence $S$, we establish general lower and upper bounds for $χ_S^{''}(G)$, and characterize all graphs $G$ with $χ_S^{''}(G)\in\{1,2,3\}$. Furthermore, we investigate $S$-packing total chromatic numbers of complete bipartite graphs, as well as infinite and finite paths and cycles.
On packing total coloring
In this paper, we introduce a new concept in graph coloring, namely the \textit{packing total coloring}, which extends the idea of packing coloring to both the vertices and the edges of a given graph. More precisely, for a graph $G$, a packing total coloring is a mapping $c: V(G) \cup E(G) \rightarrow \{1, 2, \ldots\}$ with the property that for any integer $i$, any two distinct elements $A, B \in V(G) \cup E(G)$ with $c(A) = c(B) = i$ must be at distance at least $i+1$ from each other. The smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits a packing total coloring using $k$ colors is called the \textit{packing total chromatic number}, denoted by $χ_ρ^{''}(G)$.
In addition to introducing this new concept, we provide lower and upper bounds for the packing total chromatic numbers of graphs. Furthermore, we consider packing total chromatic numbers of graphs from the perspective of their maximum degrees and characterize all graphs $G$ with $χ_ρ^{''}(G) \in \{1, 2, 3, 4\}$.
New results on the Wiener index of trees with a given diameter
We study the Wiener index of a class of trees with fixed diameter and order. A double broom is a tree such that there exist two vertices $u$ and $v$, such that each leaf of $T$ is adjacent to $u$ or $v$. We prove that for a tree $T$ of diameter $d$ and (sufficiently large) order $n$ such that $n\leq d-2+4 \left\lfloor \sqrt{ \frac{d-1}{2}} \right\rfloor$, $T$ has maximum Wiener index (in the class of trees of diameter $d$ and order $n$) if and only if $T$ is a balanced double broom. Our results are sharp up to a small constant.
On the star b-chromatic number of a graph
A star coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper coloring where vertices of every two color classes induce a forest of stars. A strict partial order is defined on the set of all star colorings of $G$. We introduce the star b-chromatic number $S_b(G)$, analogous to the b-chromatic number, as the maximum number of colors in a minimum element of the mentioned order. We present several combinatorial properties of $S_b(G)$, compute the exact value for $S_b(G)$ for several known families and compare $S_b(G)$ with several invariants naturally connected to $S_b(G)$.
