S-packing chromatic critical paths and cycles
Let $S=(s_1,s_2,\ldots)$ be a non-decreasing sequence of positive integers. For a graph $G$ with vertex set $V(G)$, a labeling $φ\colon V(G)\to \{1,\ldots,k\}$ is an $S$-packing $k$-coloring if, whenever two distinct vertices $u,v\in V(G)$ are assigned the same color $i$, their distance in $G$ is greater than $s_i$. The minimum $k$ for which $G$ admits such a coloring is the $S$-packing chromatic number of $G$. A graph $G$ is $χ_S$-vertex-critical if $χ_S(G-v) < χ_S(G)$ for every $v \in V(G)$, and it is $χ_S$-critical if $χ_S(H) < χ_S(G)$ holds for every proper subgraph $H$ of $G$. In this paper, the exact value of $χ_S(P_n)$ is determined for every path of order $n$ and for every packing sequence $S$ where $s_i < 2^i$ holds for each entry $s_i$. As a consequence, $χ_S$-critical and $χ_S$-vertex-critical paths are identified for each such sequence $S$. In addition, we extend earlier results on $χ_S$-critical cycles and provide a complete characterization of $χ_S$-critical and $χ_S$-vertex-critical cycles for packing sequences $S= (1, s_2, \dots )$ with $s_2 \in \{2,3\}$ and $s_3,s_4 \in \{4,5,6,7\}$.
S-packing chromatic critical graphs
For a non-decreasing sequence of positive integers $S=(s_1,s_2,\ldots)$, the $S$-packing chromatic number of a graph $G$ is denoted by $χ_S(G)$. In this paper, $χ_S$-critical graphs are introduced as the graphs $G$ such that $χ_S(H) < χ_S(G)$ for each proper subgraph $H$ of $G$. Several families of $χ_S$-critical graphs are constructed, and $2$- and $3$-colorable $χ_S$-critical graphs are presented for all packing sequences $S$, while $4$-colorable $χ_S$-critical graphs are found for most of $S$. Cycles which are $χ_S$-critical are characterized under different conditions. It is proved that for any graph $G$ and any edge $e \in E(G)$, the inequality $χ_S(G - e) \ge χ_S(G)/2$ holds. Moreover, in several important cases, this bound can be improved to $χ_S(G - e) \ge (χ_S(G)+1)/2$. The sharpness of the bounds is also discussed. Along the way an earlier result on $χ_S$-vertex-critical graphs is supplemented.
Structure and substructure connectivity of folded divide-and-swap cube
Let $ H $ be a connected subgraph of a graph $ G $. The structure connectivity of $ G $, denoted by $ κ(G;H) $, is the minimum number of a set of connected subgraphs in $ G $, whose removal disconnects $ G $ and each element in the set is isomorphic to $ H $. The substructure connectivity of $ G $, denoted by $ κ^s(G;H) $, is the minimum number of a set of connected subgraphs in $ G $, whose removal disconnects $ G $ and each element in the set is isomorphic to a connected subgraph of $ H $. In this paper, we determine $ H $-structure connectivity and $ H $-substructure connectivity of folded divide-and-swap cube $ FDSC_n $ for $ H\in\{K_1, K_{1,1}, K_{1,m} (2\leq m \leq d+1) \} $ where $ n=2^d $. We show that $κ(FDSC_n;K_1)=κ^s(FDSC_n;K_1)=d+2$, $κ(FDSC_n;K_{1,1})=κ^s(FDSC_n;K_{1,1})=d+1 $ for $ d\geq1 $ and $κ(FDSC_n;K_{1,m})=κ^s(FDSC_n;K_{1,m})=\lfloor\frac{d}{2}\rfloor+1$ for $d\geq1 $ and $ 2\leq m \leq d+1$.

Bipartite graphs with close domination and k-domination numbers
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $k$ be a positive integer and let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$. A subset $D \subseteq V(G)$ is a $k$-dominating set if every vertex outside $D$ is adjacent to at least $k$ vertices in $D$. The $k$-domination number $γ_k(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a $k$-dominating set in $G$. For any graph $G$, we know that $γ_k(G) \geq γ(G)+k-2$ where $ Δ(G)\geq k\geq 2$ and this bound is sharp for every $k\geq 2$. In this paper, we characterize bipartite graphs satisfying the equality for $k\geq 3$ and present a necessary and sufficient condition for a bipartite graph to satisfy the equality hereditarily when $k=3$. We also prove that the problem of deciding whether a graph satisfies the given equality is NP-hard in general.

On the equality of domination number and $ 2 $-domination number
Published • View PublicationBIB
The 2-domination number $γ_2(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a set $ D \subseteq V(G) $ for which every vertex outside $ D $ is adjacent to at least two vertices in $ D $. Clearly, $ γ_2(G) $ cannot be smaller than the domination number $ γ(G) $. We consider a large class of graphs and characterize those members which satisfy $γ_2=γ$. For the general case, we prove that it is NP-hard to decide whether $γ_2=γ$ holds. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for a graph to satisfy the equality hereditarily.

The super-connectivity of Johnson graphs
Published in Discrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, vol. 22 no. 1, Graph Theory (April 14, 2020) dmtcs:5600 • View PublicationBIB
For positive integers $n,k$ and $t$, the uniform subset graph $G(n, k, t)$ has all $k$-subsets of $\{1,2,\ldots, n\}$ as vertices and two $k$-subsets are joined by an edge if they intersect at exactly $t$ elements. The Johnson graph $J(n,k)$ corresponds to $G(n,k,k-1)$, that is, two vertices of $J(n,k)$ are adjacent if the intersection of the corresponding $k$-subsets has size $k-1$. A super vertex-cut of a connected graph is a set of vertices whose removal disconnects the graph without isolating a vertex and the super-connectivity is the size of a minimum super vertex-cut. In this work, we fully determine the super-connectivity of the family of Johnson graphs $J(n,k)$ for $n\geq k\geq 1$.
