The K_4-free process
We consider the K_4-free process. In this process, the edges of the complete n-vertex graph are traversed in a uniformly random order, and each traversed edge is added to an initially empty evolving graph, unless the addition of the edge creates a copy of K_4. Let M(n) denote the graph that is produced by that process. We prove that a.a.s., the number of edges in M(n) is O( n^{8/5} (\ln n)^{1/5} ). This matches, up to a constant factor, a lower bound of Bohman. As a by-product, we prove the following Ramsey-type result: for every n there exists a K_4-free n-vertex graph, in which the largest set of vertices that doesn't span a triangle has size O( n^{3/5} (\ln n)^{1/5} ). This improves, by a factor of (\ln n)^{3/10}, an upper bound of Krivelevich.

Let H = (V,E) be a k-uniform hypergraph with a vertex set V and an edge set E. Let V_p be constructed by taking every vertex in V independently with probability p. Let X be the number of edges in E that are contained in V_p. We give a condition that guarantees the concentration of X within a small interval around its mean. The applicability of this result is demonstrated by deriving new sub-Gaussian tails for the number of copies of small complete and complete bipartite graphs in the binomial random graph, extending results of Ruciński and Vu.

Let X be the random variable that counts the number of triangles in the random graph G(n,p). We show that for some absolute constant c, the probability that X deviates from its expectation by at least λ\var(X)^{1/2} is at most e^{-cλ^2}, provided that n^{-1}(\ln n)^{10} \le p \le n^{-1/2}(\ln n)^{-10}, λ= ω(\ln n) and λ\le \min\{(np)^{1/2}, n^{-3/4}p^{-3/2}, n^{1/6}\}.
Triangle-free Subgraphs at the Triangle-Free Process

We consider the triangle-free process: given an integer n, start by taking a uniformly random ordering of the edges of the complete n-vertex graph K_n. Then, traverse the ordered edges and add each traversed edge to an (initially empty) evolving graph - unless its addition creates a triangle. We study the evolving graph at around the time where Θ(n^{3/2 + ε}) edges have been traversed for any fixed ε\in (0,10^{-10}). At that time and for any fixed triangle-free graph F, we give an asymptotically tight estimation of the expected number of copies of F in the evolving graph. For F that is balanced and have density smaller than 2 (e.g., for F that is a cycle of length at least 4), our argument also gives a tight concentration result for the number of copies of F in the evolving graph. Our analysis combines Spencer's original branching process approach for analysing the triangle-free process and the semi-random method.

We consider the next greedy randomized process for generating maximal H-free graphs: Given a fixed graph H and an integer n, start by taking a uniformly random permutation of the edges of the complete n-vertex graph. Then, construct an n-vertex graph, M_n(H), iteratively as follows. Traverse the permuted edges of the complete n-vertex graph and add each one to the (initially empty) evolving graph M_n(H) - unless its addition creates a copy of H. The result of this process is a maximal H-free graph M_n(H). The basic question we are concerned with in here is: What is the expected number of edges in M_n(H)?
We give new lower bounds on the expected number of edges in M_n(H) for the case where H is a regular, strictly 2-balanced graph. In particular, we obtain new lower bounds for Turan numbers of complete balanced bipartite graphs K_{r,r}, for every fixed r > 4. This improves an old lower bound of Erdos and Spencer.
