The Grünbaum--Rigby configuration as a special Kárteszi configuration
In 1990, Branko Grünbaum and John Rigby presented a 4-configuration, known today as the \emph{Grünbaum--Rigby configuration}; it is denoted by $\mathrm{GR}(21_4)$. Independently and earlier, in 1986, Ferenc Kárteszi published a paper in which he proved a theorem in real geometry that gives rise to a series of 4-configurations $\mathrm{K}(n;\ell,m)$. In an even earlier paper from 1964, he presented a figure which is essentially the same as that given by Grünbaum and Rigby. In this paper, we explore some properties of the \emph{Kárteszi configurations} and in particular show that $\mathrm{GR}(21_4)$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{K}(7;2,3)$. We present a theorem that gives necessary and sufficient conditions on parameters $n,\ell,m$ such that the corresponding configuration $\mathrm{K}(n;\ell,m)$ is realisable as a geometric polycyclic configuration with $n$-fold rotational symmetry and no extra incidences.
A note on girth-diameter cages
In this paper, we introduce a problem closely related to the Cage Problem and the Degree Diameter Problem. For integers $k\geq 2$, $g\geq 3$ and $d\geq 1$, we define a $(k;\, g,d)$-graph to be a $k$-regular graph with girth $g$ and diameter $d$. We denote by $n_0(k;\,g,d)$ the smallest possible order of such a graph, and, if such a graph exists, we call it a $(k;g,d)$-cage. In particular, we focus on $(k;\,5,4)$-graphs. We show that $n_0(k;\,5,4) \geq k^2+k+2$ for all $k$, and report on the determination of all $(k;\,5,4)$-cages for $k=3, 4$ and $5$ and examples with $k = 6$, and describe some examples of $(k;\,5,4)$-graphs which prove that $n_0(k;\,5,4) \leq 2k^2$ for infinitely many values of $k$.
On extremal (almost) edge-girth-regular graphs
A $k$-regular graph of girth $g$ is called edge-girth-regular graph, shortly egr-graph, if each of its edges is contained in exactly $λ$ distinct $g-$cycles. An egr-graph is called extremal for the triple $(k, g, λ)$ if has the smallest possible order. We prove that some graphs arising from incidence graphs of finite planes are extremal egr-graphs. We also prove new lower bounds on the order of egr-graphs.

We present simple, geometric constructions for small regular graphs of girth 7 from the incidence graphs of some generalized quadrangles. We obtain infinite families of (q-1)-regular, q-regular and (q + 1)-regular graphs of girth 7, for q a prime power. Some of them have the smallest order known so far.
A little more about bipartite biregular cages, block designs, and generalized polygons
In this paper, we obtain new lower and upper bounds for the problem of bipartite biregular cages. Moreover, for girth $6$, we give the exact parameters of the $(m,n;6)$-bipartite biregular cages when $n\equiv -1$ $\pmod m$ using the existence of Steiner System system $S(2,k=m,v=1+n(m-1)+m)$.
For girth $g=2r$ and $r=\{4,6,8\}$, we use results on $t$-good structures given by ovoids, spreads and sub-polygons in generalized polygons to obtain $(m,n;2r)$-bipartite biregular graphs. We emphasize that, as we improve the lower bounds on the order of these graphs, we also prove that some of them are $(m,n;2r)$-bipartite biregular cages.
In particular, we construct relatively small bipartite biregular graphs from a special class of generalized quadrangles and hexagons. In a special case, we show that the graph obtained is actually a $(3,4;8)$-bipartite biregular cage on $56$ vertices.

The pseudoachromatic index of the finite affine space $\mathrm{AG}(n,q),$ denoted by $ψ'(\mathrm{AG}(n,q)),$ is the the maximum number of colors in any complete line-coloring of $\mathrm{AG}(n,q).$ When the coloring is also proper, the maximum number of colors is called the achromatic index of $\mathrm{AG}(n,q).$ We prove that if $n$ is even then $ψ'(\mathrm{AG}(n,q))\sim q^{1.5n-1}$; while when $n$ is odd the value is bounded by $q^{1.5(n-1)}<ψ'(\mathrm{AG}(n,q))<q^{1.5n-1}$. Moreover, we prove that the achromatic index of $\mathrm{AG}(n,q)$ is $q^{1.5n-1}$ for even $n,$ and we provides the exact values of both indices in the planar case.
On the metric dimension of affine planes, biaffine planes and generalized quadrangles
In this paper the metric dimension of (the incidence graphs of) particular partial linear spaces is considered. We prove that the metric dimension of an affine plane of order $q\geq13$ is $3q-4$ and describe all resolving sets of that size if $q\geq 23$. The metric dimension of a biaffine plane (also called a flag-type elliptic semiplane) of order $q\geq 4$ is shown to fall between $2q-2$ and $3q-6$, while for Desarguesian biaffine planes the lower bound is improved to $8q/3-7$ under $q\geq 7$, and to $3q-9\sqrt{q}$ under certain stronger restrictions on $q$. We determine the metric dimension of generalized quadrangles of order $(s,1)$, $s$ arbitrary. We derive that the metric dimension of generalized quadrangles of order $(q,q)$, $q\geq2$, is at least $\max\{6q-27,4q-7\}$, while for the classical generalized quadrangles $W(q)$ and $Q(4,q)$ it is at most $8q$.

2-semiarcs in $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$, $q\leq 13$
A $2$-semiarc is a pointset ${\mathcal S}_k$ with the property that the number of tangent lines to ${\mathcal S}_k$ at each of its points is two. Using some theoretical results and computer aided search, the complete classification of $2$-semiarcs in PG$(2,q)$ is given for $q\leq 7,$ the spectrum of their sizes is determined for $q\leq 9$, and some results about the existence are proven for $q=11$ and $q=13.$ For several sizes of $2$-semiarcs in $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$, $q\leq 7$, classification results have been obtained by theoretical proofs.

Semiarcs with a long secant in $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$
A $t$-semiarc is a pointset ${\cal S}_t$ with the property that the number of tangent lines to ${\cal S}_t$ at each of its points is $t$. We show that if a small $t$-semiarc ${\cal S}_t$ in $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$ has a large collinear subset ${\cal K}$, then the tangents to ${\cal S}_t$ at the points of ${\cal K}$ can be blocked by $t$ points not in ${\cal K}$. We also show that small $t$-semiarcs are related to certain small blocking sets. Some characterization theorems for small semiarcs with large collinear subsets in $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$ are given.
