Corrections to classical results on Independence and Covering numbers of the Splitting graph
The splitting graph $S(G)$ of a finite simple graph $G$ was introduced by Sampathkumar and Walikar in 1980~\cite{SW1980} and has been extensively studied in relation to graph invariants of $G$. In their original work, several formulas relating the independence number and the vertex cover number of $S(G)$ to the corresponding parameters of $G$ were stated and subsequently cited in the literature. In this paper, we show that some of these classical equalities do not hold in general. We present explicit counterexamples disproving the published results concerning independence and vertex cover numbers of splitting graphs. Moreover, we establish the correct formulas and precisely characterize the cases in which the original statements are valid and those in which they fail. These results correct an error that has remained unnoticed for more than four decades and provide a clearer understanding of splitting graphs from the perspective of independence and vertex cover number.

An asymptotically tight upper bound for the domination number of the $2$-token graph of path graphs
In this note, we show that the domination number of the $2$-token graph of the path graph of order $n\geq 2$ is equal to $\frac{n^2}{10}+Θ(n)$.
Mutual-visibility of the disjointness graph of segments in ${\mathbb R}^2$
Let $G=(V(G),E(G))$ be a simple graph, and let $U\subseteq V(G)$. Two distinct vertices $x,y\in U$ are $U$-mutually visible if $G$ contains a shortest $x$-$y$ path that is internally disjoint from $U$. $U$ is called a mutual-visibility set of $G$ if any two vertices of $U$ are $U$-mutually visible. The mutual-visibility number $μ(G)$ of $G$ is the size of a largest mutual-visibility set of $G$. Let $P$ be a set of $n\geq 3$ points in ${\mathbb R}^2$ in general position. The disjointness graph of segments $D(P)$ of $P$ is the graph whose vertices are all the closed straight line segments with endpoints in $P$, two of which are adjacent in $D(P)$ if and only if they are disjoint. In this paper we establish tight lower and upper bounds for $μ(D(P))$, and show that almost all edge disjointness graphs have diameter 2.
Disjointness Graphs of segments in $R^2$ are almost all Hamiltonian
Let $P$ be a set of $n\geq 2$ points in general position in $R^2$. The edge disjointness graph $D(P)$ of $P$ is the graph whose vertices are all the closed straight line segments with endpoints in $P$, two of which are adjacent in $D(P)$ if and only if they are disjoint. In this note, we give a full characterization of all those edge disjointness graphs that are hamiltonian. More precisely, we shall show that (up to order type isomorphism) there are exactly 8 instances of P for which $D(P)$ is not hamiltonian. Additionally, from one of these 8 instances, we derive a counterexample to a criterion for the existence of hamiltonian cycles due to A. D. Plotnikov in 1998.
On the connectivity of the disjointness graph of segments of point sets in general position in the plane

Let $P$ be a set of $n\geq 3$ points in general position in the plane. The edge disjointness graph $D(P)$ of $P$ is the graph whose vertices are all the closed straight line segments with endpoints in $P$, two of which are adjacent in $D(P)$ if and only if they are disjoint. We show that the connectivity of $D(P)$ is at least $\binom{\lfloor\frac{n-2}{2}\rfloor}{2}+\binom{\lceil\frac{n-2}{2}\rceil}{2}$, and that this bound is tight for each $n\geq 3$.

The Edge-connectivity of Token Graphs
Let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n\geq 2$ and let $k\in \{1,\ldots ,n-1\}$. The $k$-token graph $F_k(G)$ of $G$ is the graph whose vertices are the $k$-subsets of $V(G)$, where two vertices are adjacent in $F_k(G)$ whenever their symmetric difference is an edge of $G$. In 2018 J. Leaños and A. L. Trujillo-Negrete proved that if $G$ is $t$-connected and $t\geq k$, then $F_k(G)$ is at least $k(t-k+1)$-connected. In this paper we show that such a lower bound remains true in the context of edge-connectivity. Specifically, we show that if $G$ is $t$-edge-connected and $t\geq k$, then $F_k(G)$ is at least $k(t-k+1)$-edge-connected. We also provide some families of graphs attaining this bound.
The $2nd-$convex hull of every optimal rectilinear drawing of $K_{n}$ is a triangle
A rectilinear drawing of a graph $G$ is optimal if it has the smallest number of crossings among all rectilinear drawings of $G$. In this paper it is shown that for $n\geq 8$, the second convex hull of every optimal rectilinear drawing of the complete graph $K_n$ is a triangle.
Point sets that minimize $(\le k)$-edges, 3-decomposable drawings, and the rectilinear crossing number of $K_{30}$
Published • View PublicationBIB
There are two properties shared by all known crossing-minimizing geometric drawings of $K_n$, for $n$ a multiple of 3. First, the underlying $n$-point set of these drawings has exactly $3\binom{k+2}{2}$ $(\le k)$-edges, for all $0\le k < n/3$. Second, all such drawings have the $n$ points divided into three groups of equal size; this last property is captured under the concept of 3-decomposability. In this paper we show that these properties are tightly related: every $n$-point set with exactly $3\binom{k+2}{2}$ $(\le k)$-edges for all $0\le k < n/3$, is 3-decomposable. As an application, we prove that the rectilinear crossing number of $K_{30}$ is 9726.
3--symmetric and 3--decomposable drawings of $K_n$ (extended version)
Even the most superficial glance at the vast majority of crossing-minimal geometric drawings of $K_n$ reveals two hard-to-miss features. First, all such drawings appear to be 3-fold symmetric (or simply {\em 3-symmetric}) . And second, they all are {\em 3-decomposable}, that is, there is a triangle $T$ enclosing the drawing, and a balanced partition $A, B, C$ of the underlying set of points $P$, such that the orthogonal projections of $P$ onto the sides of $T$ show $A$ between $B$ and $C$ on one side, $B$ between $A$ and $C$ on another side, and $C$ between $A$ and $B$ on the third side. In fact, we conjecture that all optimal drawings are 3-decomposable, and that there are 3-symmetric optimal constructions for all $n$ multiple of 3. In this paper, we show that any 3-decomposable geometric drawing of $K_n$ has at least $0.380029\binom{n}{4}+Θ(n^3)$ crossings. On the other hand, we produce 3-symmetric and 3-decomposable drawings that improve the {\em general} upper bound for the rectilinear crossing number of $K_n$ to $0.380488\binom{n}{4}+Θ(n^3)$. We also give explicit 3-symmetric and 3-decomposable constructions for $n<100$ that are at least as good as those previously known.
