The $k$-Total Bondage Number of a Graph
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a connected, finite undirected graph. A set $S \subseteq V$ is said to be a total dominating set of $G$ if every vertex in $V$ is adjacent to some vertex in $S$. The total domination number, $γ_{t}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set in $G$. We define the $k$-total bondage of $G$ to be the minimum number of edges to remove from $G$ so that the resulting graph has a total domination number at least $k$ more than $γ_{t}(G)$. We establish general properties of $k$-total bondage and find exact values for certain graph classes including paths, cycles, wheels, complete and complete bipartite graphs.
Independence Polynomials of 2-step Nilpotent Lie Algebras
Motivated by the Dani-Mainkar construction, we extend the notion of independence polynomial of graphs to arbitrary 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras. After establishing efficiently computable upper and lower bounds for the independence number, we discuss a metric-dependent generalization motivated by a quantum mechanical interpretation of our construction. As an application, we derive elementary bounds for the dimension of abelian subalgebras of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras.
An Efficiently Computable Lower Bound for the Independence Number of Hypergraphs
We introduce a lower bound for the independence number of an arbitrary $k$-uniform hypergraph that only depends on the number of vertices and number of edges of the hypergraph.
Properties of Sub-Add Move Graphs
We introduce the notion of a move graph, that is, a directed graph whose vertex set is a $\mathbb Z$-module $\mathbb Z_n^m$, and whose arc set is uniquely determined by the action $M\!:\!\mathbb Z_n^m\to \mathbb Z_n^m$ where $M$ is an $m\times m$ matrix with integer entries. We study the manner in which properties of move graphs differ when one varies the choice of cyclic group $\mathbb Z_n$. Our principal focus is on a special family of such graphs, which we refer to as ``sub-add move graphs.''
