Integer points in a simplex and related Diophantine problems: Hardy--Littlewood asymptotics in higher dimensions
In the early 1920s, Hardy and Littlewood considered the number of integer points in the right-angled triangles with irrational inclines of the diagonal. We extend their results to higher dimensions.
Multiplicative Diophantine approximation and bounds for lattice sums
We estimate the lattice sums arising in the context of the integer point counting in polyhedra.
Discrepancies and their means
It is shown that the discrepancy function for point distributions on a torus is expressed by an explicit formula in terms of its mean values on sub-tori. As an application of this formula, a simple proof of a theorem of Lev on the equivalence of $L_{\infty}$- and shifted $L_q$-discrepancies is given.

We show that Stolarsky's invariance principle, known for point distributions on the Euclidean spheres, can be extended to the real, complex, and quaternionic projective spaces and the octonionic projective plane. A part of the results (Theorem~1.1 ana Corollary~1.1) was given early in the previous paper [22], while the explicit formulas for the constants in the invariance principles for projective spaces (Theorem~1.2 and Corollary~1.2) are new.

Upper bounds for the $L_p$-discrepancies of point distributions in compact metric measure spaces for $0<p\le\infty$ have been established in the paper [6] by Brandolini, Chen, Colzani, Gigante and Travaglini. In the present paper we show that such bounds can be established in a much more general situation under very simple conditions on the volume of metric balls as a function of radii.
Point distribution in compact metric spaces, III. Two-point homogeneous spaces
We consider point distributions in compact connected two-point homogeneous spaces (Riemannian symmetric spaces of rank one). All such spaces are known, they are the spheres in the Euclidean spaces, the real, complex and quaternionic projective spaces and the octonionic projective plane. Our concern is with discrepancies of distributions in metric balls and sums of pairwise distances between points of distributions in such spaces.
Using the geometric features of two-point spaces, we show that Stolarsky's invariance principle, well-known for the Euclidean spheres, can be extended to all projective spaces and the octonionic projective plane (Theorem 2.1 and Corollary 2.1). We obtain the spherical function expansions for discrepancies and sums of distances (Theorem 9.1). Relying on these expansions, we prove in all such spaces the best possible bounds for quadratic discrepancies and sums of pairwise distances (Theorem 2.2). Applications to $t$-designs on such two-point homogeneous spaces are also considered. It is shown that the optimal $t$-designs meet the best possible bounds for quadratic discrepancies and sums of pairwise distances. (Corollaries 3.1 and 3.2).

We consider finite point subsets (distributions) in compact metric spaces. Non-trivial bounds for sums of distances between points of distributions and for discrepancies of distributions in metric balls are given in the case of general rectifiable metric spaces.
We generalize Stolarsky's invariance principle to distance-invariant spaces, and for arbitrary metric spaces we prove a probabilistic invariance principle.
Furthermore, we construct partitions of general rectifiable compact metric spaces into subsets of equal measure with minimum average diameter.
Dyadic shift randomization in classical discrepancy theory

Dyadic shifts of point distributions in the multi-dimensional unit cube are considered as a randomization. Explicit formulas for the discrepancies of such randomized distributions are given in the paper in terms of Rademacher functions. Relaying on the statistical independence of Rademacher functions, Khinchin's inequalities, and other related results, we obtain very sharp upper and lower bounds for the mean discrepancies.
Coding Theory and Uniform Distributions
In the present paper we introduce and study finite point subsets of a special kind, called optimum distributions, in the n-dimensional unit cube. Such distributions are closely related with known (delta,s,n)-nets of low discrepancy. It turns out that optimum distributions have a rich combinatorial structure. Namely, we show that optimum distributions can be characterized completely as maximum distance separable codes with respect to a non-Hamming metric. Weight spectra of such codes can be evaluated precisely. We also consider linear codes and distributions and study their general properties including the duality with respect to a suitable inner product. The corresponding generalized MacWilliams identities for weight enumerators are briefly discussed. Broad classes of linear maximum distance separable codes and linear optimum distributions are explicitely constructed in the paper by the Hermite interpolations over finite fields.
