Asymptotic enumeration of constrained bipartite, directed and oriented graphs by degree sequence
In the sufficiently sparse case, we find the probability that a uniformly random bipartite graph with given degree sequence contains no edge from a specified set of edges. This enables us to enumerate loop-free digraphs and oriented graphs with given in-degree and out-degree sequences, and obtain subgraph probabilities. Our theorems are not restricted to the near-regular case. As an application, we determine the expected permanent of sparse or very dense random matrices with given row and column sums; in the regular case, our formula holds over all densities. We also draw conclusions about the degrees of a random orientation of a random undirected graph with given degrees, including its number of Eulerian orientations.

Factorisation of the complete graph into spanning regular factors
Published • View PublicationBIB
We enumerate factorisations of the complete graph into spanning regular graphs in several cases, including when the degrees of all the factors except for one or two are small. The resulting asymptotic behaviour is seen to generalise the number of regular graphs in a simple way. This leads us to conjecture a general formula when the number of factors is vanishing compared to the number of vertices.

Factorisation of the complete bipartite graph into spanning semiregular factors

We enumerate factorisations of the complete bipartite graph into spanning semiregular graphs in several cases, including when the degrees of all the factors except one or two are small. The resulting asymptotic behaviour is seen to generalise the number of semiregular graphs in an elegant way. This leads us to conjecture a general formula when the number of factors is vanishing compared to the number of vertices. As a corollary, we find the average number of ways to partition the edges of a random semiregular bipartite graph into spanning semiregular subgraphs in several cases. Our proof of one case uses a switching argument to find the probability that a set of sufficiently sparse semiregular bipartite graphs are edge-disjoint when randomly labelled.
Complexity results for $k$-domination and $α$-domination problems and their variants
Let $G=(V, E)$ be a simple and undirected graph. For some integer $k\geq 1$, a set $D\subseteq V$ is said to be a k-dominating set in $G$ if every vertex $v$ of $G$ outside $D$ has at least $k$ neighbors in $D$. Furthermore, for some real number $α$ with $0<α\leq1$, a set $D\subseteq V$ is called an $α$-dominating set in $G$ if every vertex $v$ of $G$ outside $D$ has at least $α\times d_v$ neighbors in $D$, where $d_v$ is the degree of $v$ in $G$. The cardinality of a minimum $k$-dominating set and a minimum $α$-dominating set in $G$ is said to be the $k$-domination number and the $α$-domination number of $G$, respectively. In this paper, we present some approximability and inapproximability results on the problem of finding $k$-domination number and $α$-domination number of some classes of graphs. Moreover, we introduce a generalization of $α$-dominating set which we call an $f$-dominating set. Given a function $f:\mathbb{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$, where $\mathbb{N}=\{1, 2, 3, \ldots\}$, a set $D\subseteq V$ is said to be an $f$-dominating set in $G$ if every vertex $v$ of $G$ outside $D$ has at least $f(d_v)$ neighbors in $D$. We prove NP-hardness of the problem of finding a minimum $f$-dominating set in $G$, for a large family of functions $f$.
