A proof of the Erdös similarity conjecture
We show that for any infinite set $A$ in ${\mathbb R}$, there exists a compact set $E \subseteq \mathbb{R}$ of positive Lebesgue measure that does not contain any non-trivial affine copy of $A$. This proves the Erdös similarity conjecture.

Polynomial Roth theorems on sets of fractional dimensions
Let $E\subset \mathbb{R}$ be a closed set of Hausdorff dimension $α\in (0, 1)$. Let $P: \mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ be a polynomial without a constant term whose degree is bigger than one. We prove that if $E$ supports a probability measure satisfying certain dimension condition and Fourier decay condition, then $E$ contains three points $x, x+t, x+P(t)$ for some $t>0$. Our result extends the one of Laba and the third author to the polynomial setting, under the same assumption. It also gives an affirmative answer to a question in Henriot, Laba and the third author.

A Roth type theorem for dense subsets of $\mathbb{R}^d$

Let $1 < p < \infty$, $p\neq 2$. We prove that if $d\geq d_p$ is sufficiently large, and $A\subs\R^d$ is a measurable set of positive upper density then there exists $\la_0=\la_0(A)$ such for all $\la\geq\la_0$ there are $x,y\in\R^d$ such that $\{x,x+y,x+2y\}\subs A$ and $|y|_p=\la$, where $||y||_p=(\sum_i |y_i|^p)^{1/p}$ is the $l^p(\mathbb R^d)$-norm of a point $y=(y_1,\ldots,y_d)\in\R^d$. This means that dense subsets of $\R^d$ contain 3-term progressions of all sufficiently large gaps when the gap size is measured in the $l^p$-metric. This statement is known to be false in the Euclidean $l^2$-metric as well as in the $l^1$ and $\ell^{\infty}$-metrics. One of the goals of this note is to understand this phenomenon. A distinctive feature of the proof is the use of multilinear singular integral operators, widely studied in classical time-frequency analysis, in the estimation of forms counting configurations.
On necklaces inside thin subsets of ${\Bbb R}^d$

We study similarity classes of point configurations in $\R^d$. Given a finite collection of points, a well-known question is: How high does the Hausdorff dimension $\hd(E)$ of a compact set $E \subset {\Bbb R}^d$, $d \ge 2$, need to be to ensure that $E$ contains some similar copy of this configuration? We prove results for a related problem, showing that for $\hd(D)$ sufficiently large, $E$ must contain many point configurations that we call $k$-necklaces of constant gap, generalizing equilateral triangles and rhombuses in higher dimensions. Our results extend and complement those in \cite{CLP14,BIT14}, where related questions were recently studied.
Multilinear singular operators with fractional rank

We prove bounds for multilinear operators on $\R^d$ given by multipliers which are singular along a $k$ dimensional subspace. The new case of interest is when the rank $k/d$ is not an integer. Connections with the concept of {\em true complexity} from Additive Combinatorics are also investigated.
