The maximum number of maximal dissociation sets in trees
Let $G$ be a simple graph. A dissociation set of $G$ proposed by Yannakakis in $1981$ is defined as a set of vertices that induces a subgraph in which every vertex has a degree of at most $1$. A dissociation set is maximal if it is not contained as a proper subset in any other dissociation set. In $2025$, Wang et al.\cite{ZiyuanWang} established that for any tree $T$ of order $n\geq 4$, the number of maximal dissociation sets in $T$ is at most $3^{\frac{n-1}{3}}+\frac{n-1}{3}$ and characterized the extremal trees attaining the upper bound. They also proposed a conjecture about the upper bound of the maximal dissociation set. In this paper, we consider this conjecture and show that the maximum number of maximal dissociation sets in a tree of order $n(n\geq 3)$ is $g(n)$, where \[ g(n) = \begin{cases} n, & n=3,4,5,6,\\ 3^{\frac{n-1}{3}}+\frac{n-1}{3}, & n \equiv 1 \pmod{3},~n\geq7,\\ 4\cdot 3^{\frac{n-5}{3}}+n-5, & n \equiv 2 \pmod{3},~n\geq8, \\ 16\cdot 3^{\frac{n-9}{3}}+3n-25, & n \equiv 0 \pmod{3},~n\geq12~\text{and }~n\neq21, \\ 19, & n=9, \\ 1349, & n=21. \end{cases} \] We also characterize the extremal trees with the maximum number of maximal dissociation sets.
Neighbor Connectivity of Undirected Toroidal Meshes
In this paper, we examine the neighbor connectivity, denoted as $κ_{NB}$, of the undirected toroidal mesh $C(d_1,d_2,\ldots,d_n)$. We demonstrate that $κ_{NB}(C(d_1,d_2,\ldots,d_n)) = n$ for all $n \ge 2$ and $d_i \ge 3$ (for $1 \le i \le n$). Additionally, we perform a computer simulation experiment on neighbor connectivity in undirected toroidal meshes. This experiment not only supports our theoretical findings with empirical results but also provides a deeper understanding of neighbor structure failures in undirected toroidal meshes.

Several network communication problems are highly related such as coded caching and distributed computation. The centralized coded caching focuses on reducing the network burden in peak times in a wireless network system and the coded distributed computation studies the tradeoff between computation and communication in distributed system. In this paper, motivated by the study of the only rainbow $3$-term arithmetic progressions set, we propose a unified framework for constructing coded caching schemes. This framework builds bridges between coded caching schemes and lots of combinatorial objects due to the freedom of the choices of families and operations. We prove that any scheme based on a placement delivery array (PDA) can be represented by a rainbow scheme under this framework and lots of other known schemes can also be included in this framework. Moreover, we also present a new coded caching scheme with linear subpacketization and near constant rate using the only rainbow $3$-term arithmetic progressions set. Next, we modify the framework to be applicable to the distributed computing problem. We present a new transmission scheme in the shuffle phase and show that in certain cases it could have a lower communication load than the schemes based on PDAs or resolvable designs with the same number of files.
The $h$-edge tolerable diagnosability of balanced hypercubes
To measure the fault diagnosis capability of a multiprocessor system with faulty links, Zhu et al. [Theoret. Comput. Sci. 758 (2019) 1--8] introduced the $h$-edge tolerable diagnosability. This kind of diagnosability is a generalization of the concept of traditional diagnosability. In this paper, as complement to the results in [Theoret. Comput. Sci. 760 (2019) 1--14], we completely determine the $h$-edge tolerable diagnosability of balanced hypercubes $BH_n$ under the PMC model and the MM$^*$ model. Thus, the traditional diagnosability of $BH_n$ is also determined.

The $g$-good-neighbor conditional diagnosability is a new measure for fault diagnosis of systems. Xu et al. [Theor. Comput. Sci. 659 (2017) 53--63] determined the $g$-good-neighbor conditional diagnosability of $(n, k)$-star networks $S_{n, k}$ (i.e., $t_g(S_{n, k})$) with $1\leq k\leq n-1$ for $1\leq g\leq n-k$ under the PMC model and the MM$^*$ model. In this paper, we determine $t_g(S_{n, k})$ for all the remaining cases with $1\leq k\leq n-1$ for $1\leq g\leq n-1$ under the two models, from which we can obtain the $g$-good-neighbor conditional diagnosability of the star graph obtained by Li et al. [to appear in Theor. Comput. Sci.] for $1\leq g\leq n-2$.

In 2011, Li et al. \cite{LLL} obtained an upper bound of the strong rainbow connection number of an $r$-dimensional undirected toroidal mesh. In this paper, this bound is improved. As a result, we give a negative answer to their problem.

The balanced hypercube, $BH_n$, is a variant of hypercube $Q_n$. Zhou et al. [Inform. Sci. 300 (2015) 20-27] proposed an interesting problem that whether there is a fault-free Hamiltonian cycle in $BH_n$ with each vertex incident to at least two fault-free edges. In this paper, we consider this problem and show that each fault-free edge lies on a fault-free Hamiltonian cycle in $BH_n$ after no more than $4n-5$ faulty edges occur if each vertex is incident with at least two fault-free edges for all $n\ge 2$. Our result is optimal with respect to the maximum number of tolerated edge faults.

In the work of Peng et al. in 2012, a new measure was proposed for fault diagnosis of systems: namely, g-good-neighbor conditional diagnosability, which requires that any fault-free vertex has at least g fault-free neighbors in the system. In this paper, we establish the g-good-neighbor conditional diagnosability of locally twisted cubes under the PMC model and the MM^* model.

We provide a geometric condition that guarantees strong Wilf equivalence in the generalized factor order. This provides a powerful tool for proving specific and general Wilf equivalence results, and several such examples are given.

The balanced hypercube, $BH_n$, is a variant of hypercube $Q_n$. R.X. Hao et al. $(2014)$ \cite{R.X.Hao} showed that there exists a fault-free Hamiltonian path between any two adjacent vertices in $BH_n$ with $(2n-2)$ faulty edges. D.Q. Cheng et al. $(2015)$ \cite{Dongqincheng2} proved that $BH_n$ is $6$-edge-bipancyclic after $(2n-3)$ faulty edges occur for all $n\ge2$. In this paper, we improve these two results by demonstrating that $BH_n$ is $6$-edge-bipancyclic even when there exist $(2n-2)$ faulty edges for all $n\ge2$. Our result is optimal with respect to the maximum number of tolerated edge faults.

A $k$-container $C(u, v)$ of a graph $G$ is a set of $k$ internally disjoint paths between $u$ and $v$. A $k$-container $C(u, v)$ of $G$ is a $k^*$-container if it is a spanning subgraph of $G$. A graph $G$ is $k^*$-connected if there exists a $k^*$-container between any two different vertices of G. A $k$-regular graph $G$ is super spanning connected if $G$ is $i^*$-container for all $1\le i\le k$. In this paper, we prove that the arrangement graph $A_{n, k}$ is super spanning connected if $n\ge 4$ and $n-k\ge 2$.

A routing $R$ of a given connected graph $G$ of order $n$ is a collection of $n(n-1)$ simple paths connecting every ordered pair of vertices of $G$. The vertex-forwarding index $ξ(G,R)$ of $G$ with respect to $R$ is defined as the maximum number of paths in $R$ passing through any vertex of $G$. The vertex-forwarding index $ξ(G)$ of $G$ is defined as the minimum $ξ(G,R)$ over all routing $R$'s of $G$. Similarly, the edge-forwarding index $ π(G,R)$ of $G$ with respect to $R$ is the maximum number of paths in $R$ passing through any edge of $G$. The edge-forwarding index $π(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum $π(G,R)$ over all routing $R$'s of $G$. The vertex-forwarding index or the edge-forwarding index corresponds to the maximum load of the graph. Therefore, it is important to find routings minimizing these indices and thus has received much research attention in the past ten years and more. In this paper we survey some known results on these forwarding indices, further research problems and several conjectures.

Let $G$ be a (di)graph. A set $W$ of vertices in $G$ is a \emph{resolving set} of $G$ if every vertex $u$ of $G$ is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to all the vertices in $W$. The \emph{metric dimension} $μ(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of all the resolving sets of $G$. Cáceres et al. \cite{Ca2} computed the metric dimension of the line graphs of complete bipartite graphs. Recently, Bailey and Cameron \cite{Ba} computed the metric dimension of the line graphs of complete graphs. In this paper we study the metric dimension of the line graph $L(G)$ of $G$. In particular, we show that $μ(L(G))=|E(G)|-|V(G)|$ for a strongly connected digraph $G$ except for directed cycles, where $V(G)$ is the vertex set and $E(G)$ is the edge set of $G$. As a corollary, the metric dimension of de Brujin digraphs and Kautz digraphs is given. Moreover, we prove that $\lceil\log_2Δ(G)\rceil\leqμ(L(G))\leq |V(G)|-2$ for a simple connected graph $G$ with at least five vertices, where $Δ(G)$ is the maximum degree of $G$. Finally, we obtain the metric dimension of the line graph of a tree in terms of its parameters.

Gravier et al. investigated the identifying codes of Cartesian product of two graphs. In this paper we consider the identifying codes of lexicographic product G[H] of a connected graph G and an arbitrary graph H, and obtain the minimum cardinality of identifying codes of G[H] in terms of some parameters of G and H.
