The rainbow vertex-disconnection in graphs
Let $G$ be a nontrivial connected and vertex-colored graph. A subset $X$ of the vertex set of $G$ is called rainbow if any two vertices in $X$ have distinct colors. The graph $G$ is called \emph{rainbow vertex-disconnected} if for any two vertices $x$ and $y$ of $G$, there exists a vertex subset $S$ of $G$ such that when $x$ and $y$ are nonadjacent, $S$ is rainbow and $x$ and $y$ belong to different components of $G-S$; whereas when $x$ and $y$ are adjacent, $S+x$ or $S+y$ is rainbow and $x$ and $y$ belong to different components of $(G-xy)-S$. For a connected graph $G$, the \emph{rainbow vertex-disconnection number} of $G$, denoted by $rvd(G)$, is the minimum number of colors that are needed to make $G$ rainbow vertex-disconnected.
In this paper, we characterize all graphs of order $n$ with rainbow vertex-disconnection number $k$ for $k\in\{1,2,n\}$, and determine the rainbow vertex-disconnection numbers of some special graphs. Moreover, we study the extremal problems on the number of edges of a connected graph $G$ with order $n$ and $rvd(G)=k$ for given integers $k$ and $n$ with $1\leq k\leq n$.
Monochromatic $k$-edge-connection colorings of graphs
A path in an edge-colored graph $G$ is called monochromatic if any two edges on the path have the same color. For $k\geq 2$, an edge-colored graph $G$ is said to be monochromatic $k$-edge-connected if every two distinct vertices of $G$ are connected by at least $k$ edge-disjoint monochromatic paths, and $G$ is said to be uniformly monochromatic $k$-edge-connected if every two distinct vertices are connected by at least $k$ edge-disjoint monochromatic paths such that all edges of these $k$ paths colored with a same color. We use $mc_k(G)$ and $umc_k(G)$ to denote the maximum number of colors that ensures $G$ to be monochromatic $k$-edge-connected and, respectively, $G$ to be uniformly monochromatic $k$-edge-connected. In this paper, we first conjecture that for any $k$-edge-connected graph $G$, $mc_k(G)=e(G)-e(H)+\lfloor\frac{k}{2}\rfloor$, where $H$ is a minimum $k$-edge-connected spanning subgraph of $G$. We verify the conjecture for $k=2$. We also prove the conjecture for $G=K_{k+1}$ when $k\geq4$ is even, and for $G=K_{k,n}$ when $k\geq4$ is even, or when $k=3$ and $n\geq k$. When $G$ is a minimal $k$-edge-connected graph, we give an upper bound of $mc_k(G)$, i.e., $mc_k(G)\leq k-1$, and $mc_k(G)\leq \lfloor\frac{k}{2}\rfloor$ when $G=K_{k,n}$. For the uniformly monochromatic $k$-edge-connectivity, we prove that for all $k$, $umc_k(G)=e(G)-e(H)+1$, where $H$ is a minimum $k$-edge-connected spanning subgraph of $G$.
Combinatorial identities and Chern numbers of complex flag manifolds
We present in this article a family of new combinatorial identities via purely differential/complex geometry methods, which include as a speical case a unified and explicit formula for Chern numbers of all complex flag manifolds. Our strategy is to construct concrete circle actions with isolated fixed points on these manifolds and explicitly determine their weights. Then applying Bott's residue formula to these models yields the desired results.

With graphs considered as natural models for many network design problems, edge connectivity $κ'(G)$ and maximum number of edge-disjoint spanning trees $τ(G)$ of a graph $G$ have been used as measures for reliability and strength in communication networks modeled as graph $G$ (see \cite{Cunn85, Matula87}, among others). Mader \cite{Mader71} and Matula \cite{Matula72} introduced the maximum subgraph edge connectivity $\overline{κ'}(G)=\max \{κ'(H): H \mbox{ is a subgraph of } G \}$. Motivated by their applications in network design and by the established inequalities \[ \overline{κ'}(G)\ge κ'(G) \ge τ(G), \] we present the following in this paper:
(i) For each integer $k>0$, a characterization for graphs $G$ with the property that $\overline{κ'}(G) \le k$ but for any edge $e$ not in $G$, $\overline{κ'}(G+e)\ge k+1$.
(ii) For any integer $n > 0$, a characterization for graphs $G$ with $|V(G)| = n$ such that $κ'(G) = τ(G)$ with $|E(G)|$ minimized.
