Canonical Lattices and Integer Relations Associated to Rational Fans
We propose a canonical local-to-global lattice theory for rational fans. We define the $\textit{ray lattice } L_{\mathrm{rays}}(Σ)$ and the $\textit{relation lattice } L_{\mathrm{rel}}(Σ)$ as invariants functorial under fan isomorphisms. We introduce $\textit{star-local relation lattices}$, defined via the relation lattice of the localized quotient fan, which capture the linear dependencies visible within local neighborhoods. We define a $\textit{codimension filtration}$ on the global relation lattice and prove a generation theorem: the global lattice is generated by local relations supported on the stars of cones of codimension at least 1. This filtration is sensitive to the facial structure of $Σ$; explicit examples and a conjecture suggest that subdivisions can only preserve or lower filtration depths, distinguishing fans with different combinatorial topologies.
The Intersection Cohomology of a Fan and the Hodge Conjecture for Toric Varieties
We formulate a combinatorial version of the Intersection Hodge Conjecture for projective toric varieties. The conjecture asserts that the subspace of rational Hodge classes in the intersection cohomology $IH^*(X_Σ)$ is generated by the classes of algebraic cycles. We define the space of combinatorial Hodge classes, $Hdg^k_{\mathrm{comb}}(Σ) \subset IH^{2k}_{\mathrm{comb}}(Σ, \mathbb{Q})$, using the combinatorial intersection cohomology theory for fans developed by Barthel, Brasselet, Fieseler, and Kaup. We conjecture that this space is spanned by the combinatorial cycle classes corresponding to torus-invariant subvarieties. We verify this conjecture for all projective toric varieties of dimension $n \le 3$ and for the class of simplicial projective toric varieties. Finally, we provide an algorithmic framework to verify the conjecture for arbitrary rational fans.
Collections of cells, binomial ideals and combinatorics
In this paper we provide a description of the package \textit{PolyominoIdeals} for \textit{Macaulay2} that allows to deal with collections of cells, polyominoes and related binomial ideals.

In this paper we investigate Cohen-Macaulayness, Gorensteinness and the Hilbert-Poincaré series for some classes of non-prime collections of cells. In particular, we show that all closed path polyominoes are Cohen-Macaulay and we characterize those that are Gorenstein.
Shellable simplicial complex and switching rook polynomial of frame polyominoes

Let $\mathcal{P}$ be a frame polyomino, a new kind of non-simple polyomino. In this paper we study the $h$-polynomial of $K[\mathcal{P}]$ in terms of the switching rook polynomial of $\mathcal{P}$ using the shellable simplicial complex $Δ(\mathcal{P})$ attached to $\mathcal{P}$. We provide a suitable shelling order for $Δ(\mathcal{P})$ and we define a bijection between the set of the canonical configurations of $j$ rooks in $\mathcal{P}$ and the facets of $Δ(\mathcal{P})$ with $j$ steps. Finally we use a well-known combinatorial result, due to McMullen and Walkup, about the $h$-vector of a shellable simplicial complex to interpret the $h$-polynomial of $K[\mathcal{P}]$ as the switching rook polynomial of $\mathcal{P}$.
On Cohen-Macaulay posets of dimension two and permutation graphs
We characterize Cohen-Macaulay posets of dimension two; they are precisely the shellable and strongly connected posets of dimension two. We also give a combinatorial description of these posets. Using the fact that co-comparability graph of a 2-dimensional poset is a permutation graph, we characterize Cohen-Macaulay permutation graphs.
