Lattice-Valued Bottleneck Duality
This note reformulates certain classical combinatorial duality theorems in the context of order lattices. For source-target networks, we generalize bottleneck path-cut and flow-cut duality results to edges with capacities in a distributive lattice. For posets, we generalize a bottleneck version of Dilworth's theorem, again weighted in a distributive lattice. These results are applicable to a wide array of non-numerical network flow problems, as shown. All results, proofs, and applications were created in collaboration with AI language models. An appendix documents their role and impact.
Toward a Spectral Theory of Cellular Sheaves

This paper outlines a program in what one might call spectral sheaf theory --- an extension of spectral graph theory to cellular sheaves. By lifting the combinatorial graph Laplacian to the Hodge Laplacian on a cellular sheaf of vector spaces over a regular cell complex, one can relate spectral data to the sheaf cohomology and cell structure in a manner reminiscent of spectral graph theory. This work gives an exploratory introduction, and includes results on eigenvalue interlacing, sparsification, effective resistance, and sheaf approximation. These results and subsequent applications are prefaced by an introduction to cellular sheaves and Laplacians.
Matroid Filtrations and Computational Persistent Homology
This technical report introduces a novel approach to efficient computation in homological algebra over fields, with particular emphasis on computing the persistent homology of a filtered topological cell complex. The algorithms here presented rely on a novel relationship between discrete Morse theory, matroid theory, and classical matrix factorizations. We provide background, detail the algorithms, and benchmark the software implementation in the Eirene package.
