Characterizations of amorphic association schemes in terms of fusing triples
Let $\mathcal{R}$ be an association scheme with nontrivial relations $A_1,\ldots,A_d$. We call $\mathcal{R}$ amorphic if every possible fusion of its nontrivial relations gives rise to a fusion scheme. We define the fusing-relations $3$-hypergraph of $\mathcal{R}$ to be the $3$-uniform hypergraph on the vertex set $\{A_1,\ldots,A_d\}$ such that $\{ A_i, A_j, A_k \}$ forms an edge if it fuses, i.e., fusing $A_i, A_j, A_k$ gives rise to a fusion scheme of $\mathcal{R}$. A $3$-uniform hypergraph is called a $3$-sunflower if, for the edges, the union is the set of vertices and the intersection consists of $2$ vertices. In this paper, we prove that for $d\geq 5$, $\mathcal{R}$ is amorphic if its fusing-relations $3$-hypergraph contains two $3$-sunflowers. As a corollary, for $d\geq 5$, $\mathcal{R}$ is amorphic if and only if all triples of its nontrivial relations fuse.

Almost amorphic association schemes
An association scheme is called amorphic if every possible fusion of relations gives rise to another association scheme. In earlier work, we showed that if an association scheme has at most one relation that is neither strongly regular of Latin square type nor strongly regular of negative Latin square type, then it must be amorphic. We now construct non-amorphic $d$-class association schemes in which precisely two relations are not strongly regular of Latin square type or strongly regular of negative Latin square type, for any $d \geq 4$. We also raise the question whether different types of strongly regular graphs can coexist in an association scheme. Among some other results, we show that if one of the relations is a lattice graph, then any other strongly regular relation in the scheme must be of Latin square type.

The constructions of Singleton-optimal locally repairable codes with minimum distance 6 and locality 3
In this paper, we present new constructions of $q$-ary Singleton-optimal locally repairable codes (LRCs) with minimum distance $d=6$ and locality $r=3$, based on combinatorial structures from finite geometry. By exploiting the well-known correspondence between a complete set of mutually orthogonal Latin squares (MOLS) of order $q$ and the affine plane $\mathrm{AG}(2,q)$, We systematically construct families of disjoint 4-arcs in the projective plane $\mathrm{PG}(2,q)$, such that the union of any two distinct 4-arcs forms an 8-arc. These 4-arcs form what we call 4-local arcs, and their existence is equivalent to that of the desired codes. For any prime power $q\ge 7$, our construction yields codes of length $n = 2q$, $2q-2$, or $2q-6$ depending on whether $q$ is even, $q\equiv 3 \pmod{4}$, or $q\equiv 1 \pmod{4}$, respectively.

Characterizations of amorphic schemes and fusions of pairs
An association scheme is called amorphic if every possible fusion of relations gives rise to a fusion scheme. We call a pair of relations fusing if fusing that pair gives rise to a fusion scheme. We define the fusing-relations graph on the set of relations, where a pair forms an edge if it fuses. We show that if the fusing-relations graph is connected but not a path, then the association scheme is amorphic. As a side result, we show that if an association scheme has at most one relation that is neither strongly regular of Latin square type nor strongly regular of negative Latin square type, then it is amorphic.
