Resolving a conjecture on permutation polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$
Let $δ\in\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ satisfy $\operatorname{Tr}_{\mathbb{F}_{2^n}/\mathbb{F}_2}(δ)=1$. We study the permutation behavior of $$ f(x) =
\left(\frac{1}{x^2+x+δ}\right)^{2^k}+x $$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$. Helleseth and Zinoviev proved that $f(x)$ is a permutation for $k=0,1$, and remarked that numerical evidence suggests that no other cases occur. In this paper, we confirm their assertion by proving that, for $0\leq k<n$, $f(x)$ is a permutation of $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ if and only if $k=0$ or $k=1$.
Explicit determination of a class of permutation rational functions in any characteristic
In this paper, we make use of the classification results of low-degree permutation rational functions together with their geometric properties to investigate rational functions that induce permutations on the multiplicative subgroup mu_q+1, where q is a prime power. By carefully analyzing the structural conditions under which such rational functions permute muq+1, we obtain an explicit description of a broad class of permutation rational functions of small degree. As a direct application of these findings, we explicitly determine many permutation quadrinomials over Fq2 that are induced by degree-3 rational functions permuting muq+1. Our approach not only unifies and extends several existing results in the literature but also provides a concrete geometric perspective for characterizing permutation polynomials over Fq2.

Permutation polynomials with few terms (especially permutation binomials) attract many people due to their simple algebraic structure. Despite the great interests in the study of permutation binomials, a complete characterization of permutation binomials is still unknown. In this paper, we give a classification of permutation binomials of the form $x^i+ax$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$, where $n\leq 8$ by characterizing three new classes of permutation binomials. In particular one of them has relatively large index $\frac{q^2+q+1}{3}$ over $\mathbb{F}_{q^3}$.
