The extended zero-divisor graph of the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal
Let $R$ be a commutative ring and $I$ be an ideal of $R$. The amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$ is the subring $R\Join I:=\{(r,r+i)| r\in R, i\in I\}$ of $R\times R$. This paper investigates the extended zero-divisor graph of the amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$. The purpose of this work is to study when $\overlineΓ(R\Join I)$ and $Γ(R\Join I)$ coincide, to characterize when $\overlineΓ(R\Join I)$ is complete, and to compute the diameter and the girth of $\overlineΓ(R\Join I)$.
Spectral properties of Cayley graphs over finite commutative rings
Let $R$ be a finite commutative ring with unity and $x$ be a non-zero element of $R$. In this paper, we calculate the spectrum and energy of the Cayley graph ${\rm Cay}(R,xR^{*})$, and also compute the energy of their compliment graph. Further, we give necessary and sufficient condition for Cayley graph ${\rm Cay}(R,xR^{*})$ to be Ramanujan.
On Conjecture of Binomial Edge Ideals of Linear Type
An ideal $I$ of a commutative ring $R$ is said to be of linear type when its Rees algebra and symmetric algebra exhibit isomorphism. In this paper, we investigate the conjecture put forth by Jayanthan, Kumar, and Sarkar (2021) that if $G$ is a tree or a unicyclic graph, then the binomial edge ideal of $G$ is of linear type. Our investigation validates this conjecture for trees. However, our study reveals that not all unicyclic graphs adhere to this conjecture.
On line upper ideal relation graphs of rings
The upper ideal relation graph $Γ_{U}(R)$ of a commutative ring $R$ with unity is a simple undirected graph with the set of all non-unit elements of $R$ as a vertex set and two vertices $x$, $y$ are adjacent if and only if the principal ideals $(x)$ and $(y)$ are contained in the principal ideal $(z)$ for some non-unit element $z\in R$. This manuscript characterizes all the Artinian rings $R$ such that the graph $Γ_{U}(R)$ is a line graph. Moreover, all the Artinian rings $R$ for which $Γ_{U}(R)$ is the complement of a line graph have been described.
On the Sombor index of the total graph and the unit graph of commutative rings
In this paper, we investigate the Sombor index of the total graph and unit graph of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ which is denoted by $T_Γ(\mathbb{Z}_n)$ and $G(\mathbb{Z}_n)$ respectively for $n \in \{2k, p^α, pq, p^2q\}$ where $p$ and $q$ are distinct odd prime numbers such that $p < q$. Moreover, we compute the Sombor index of any finite local ring.
On Certain Bounds for Multiset Dimensions of Zero-Divisor Graphs Associated with Rings
This article investigates multiset dimensions in zero divisor graphs (ZD-graphs) associated with rings. Through rigorous analysis, we establish general bounds for the multiset dimension (Mdim) in ZD-graphs, exploring various commutative rings including the ring Z_n of integers modulo n, Gaussian integers and quotient polynomial rings. Additionally, we examine the behavior of Mdim under algebraic operations and discuss bounds in terms of diameter and maximum degree. This study enhances our understanding of algebraic structures and their graphical representations.
Domination polynomial and total domination polynomial of zero-divisor graphs of commutative rings
The domination polynomial (the total domination polynomial) of a graph $ G $ of order $ n $ is the generating function of the number of dominating sets (total dominating sets) of $ G $ of any size. In this paper, we study the domination polynomial and the total domination polynomial of zero-divisor graphs of the ring $ \mathbb{Z}_n $ where $ n\in\lbrace 2p, p^2, pq, p^2q, pqr, p^α\rbrace $, and $ p, q, r $ are primes with $ p>q>r>2 $.
Finiteness of the number of irreducible $λ$-quiddities over a finite commutative and unitary ring
A $λ$-quiddity of size $n$ is an $n$-tuple of elements from a fixed set, which is a solution to a matrix equation that arises in the study of Coxeter's friezes. The study of these solutions involves in particular the use of a notion of irreducibility. The main objective of this text is to demonstrate that there is a finite number of irreducible $λ$-quiddities over a finite unitary commutative ring and to obtain in this case an upper bound for their maximal size.
Strong Resolving Graphs of Clean Graphs of Commutative Rings
Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The clean graph $\text{Cl}(R)$ of a ring $R$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertices are of the form $(e,u)$, where $e$ is an idempotent element and $u$ is a unit of the ring $R$ and two vertices $(e,u)$, $(f,v)$ of $\text{Cl}(R)$ are adjacent if and only if $ef = fe =0$ or $uv = vu=1$. In this manuscript, for a commutative ring $R$, first we obtain the strong resolving graph of $\text{Cl}(R)$ and its independence number. Using them, we determine the strong metric dimension of the clean graph of an arbitrary commutative ring. As an application, we compute the strong metric dimension of $\text{Cl}(R)$, where $R$ is a commutative Artinian ring.
On certain properties of the $p$-unitary Cayley graph over a finite ring
In recent work, we study certain Cayley graphs associated with a finite commutative ring and their multiplicative subgroups. Among various results that we prove, we provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for such a Cayley graph to be prime. In this paper, we continue this line of research. Specifically, we investigate some basic properties of certain $p$-unitary Cayeley graphs associated with a finite commutative ring. In particular, under some mild conditions, we provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for this graph to be prime.
Upper ideal relation graphs associated to rings
Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The upper ideal relation graph $Γ_U(R)$ of the ring $R$ is a simple undirected graph whose vertex set is the set of all non-unit elements of $R$ and two distinct vertices $x, y$ are adjacent if and only if there exists a non-unit element $z \in R$ such that the ideals $(x)$ and $(y)$ contained in the ideal $(z)$. In this article, we classify all the non-local finite commutative rings whose upper ideal relation graphs are split graphs, threshold graphs and cographs, respectively. In order to study topological properties of $Γ_U(R)$, we determine all the non-local finite commutative rings $R$ whose upper ideal relation graph has genus at most $2$. Further, we precisely characterize all the non-local finite commutative rings for which the crosscap of $Γ_U(R)$ is either $1$ or $2$.
Polynomials as terms and the Boolean Independence Theorem
We develop a theory of formal multivariate polynomials over commutative rings by treating them as ring terms. Our main result is that two ring terms are s-equivalent (when expanded they yield the same standard polynomial) iff they are f-equivalent (one can be transformed in the other by a series of elementary transformations). We consider in a similar way Boolean terms (formulas) and prove a theorem that two events $a$ and $b$ in a probability space, which are built by two Boolean terms from respective tuples $A$ and $B$ of elementary events, are independent if the events in $A$ are independent of the events in $B$. This theorem rigorizes arguments in the Probabilistic Method in Combinatorics.
A note on eigenvalues of zero divisor graphs associated with commutative rings
For a commutative ring $R,$ with non-zero zero divisors $Z^{\ast}(R)$. The zero divisor graph $Γ(R)$ is a simple graph with vertex set $Z^{\ast}(R)$, and two distinct vertices $x,y\in V(Γ(R))$ are adjacent if and only if $x\cdot y=0.$ In this note, we provide counter examples to the eigenvalues, the energy and the second Zagreb index related to zero divisor graphs of rings obtained in [Johnson and Sankar, J. Appl. Math. Comp. (2023), \cite{johnson}]. We correct the eigenvalues (energy) and the Zagreb index result for the zero divisor graphs of ring $\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle.$ We show that for any prime $p$, $Γ(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is non-hyperenergetic and for prime $p\geq 3$, $Γ(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is hypoenergetic. We give a formulae for the topological indices of $Γ(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ and show that its Zagreb indices satisfy Hansen and Vuki$\check{c}$cević conjecture \cite{hansen}.

This article investigates the concept of dominant metric dimensions in zero divisor graphs (ZD-graphs) associated with rings. Consider a finite commutative ring with unity, denoted as R, where nonzero elements x and y are identified as zero divisors if their product results in zero (x.y=0). The set of zero divisors in ring R is referred to as L(R). To analyze various algebraic properties of R, a graph known as the zero-divisor graph is constructed using L(R). This manuscript establishes specific general bounds for the dominant metric dimension (Ddim) concerning the ZD-graph of R. To achieve this objective, we examine the zero divisor graphs for specific rings, such as the ring of Gaussian integers modulo m, denoted as Zm[i], the ring of integers modulo n, denoted as Zn, and some quotient polynomial rings. Additionally, we present a general result outlining bounds for the dominant metric dimension expressed in terms of the maximum degree, girth, clique number, and diameter of the associated ZD-graphs. Finally, we provide insights into commutative rings that share identical metric dimensions and dominant metric dimensions. This exploration contributes to a deeper understanding of the structural characteristics of ZD-graphs and their implications for the algebraic properties of commutative rings.
The Collatz map analogue in polynomial rings and in completions
We study an analogue of the Collatz map in the polynomial ring $R[x]$, where $R$ is an arbitrary commutative ring. We prove that if $R$ is of positive characteristic, then every polynomial in $R[x]$ is eventually periodic with respect to this map. This extends previous works of the authors and of Hicks, Mullen, Yucas and Zavislak, who studied the Collatz map on $\mathbb{F}_p[x]$ and $\mathbb{F}_2[x]$, respectively. We also consider the Collatz map on the ring of formal power series $R[[x]]$ when $R$ is finite: we characterize the eventually periodic series in this ring, and give formulas for the number of cycles induced by the Collatz map, of any given length. We provide similar formulas for the original Collatz map defined on the ring $\mathbb{Z}_2$ of $2$-adic integers, extending previous results of Lagarias.

The smallest set of vertices needed to differentiate or categorize every other vertex in a graph is referred to as the graph's metric dimension. Finding the class of graphs for a particular given metric dimension is an NP-hard problem. This concept has applications in many different domains, including graph theory, network architecture, and facility location problems. A graph $G$ with order $n$ is known as a Toeplitz graph over the subset $S$ of consecutive collections of integers from one to $n$, and two vertices will be adjacent to each other if their absolute difference is a member of $S$. A graph $G(\mathbb{Z}_{n})$ is called a zero-divisor graph over the zero divisors of a commutative ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$, in which two vertices will be adjacent to each other if their product will leave the remainder zero under modulo $n$. Since the local fractional metric dimension problem is NP-hard, it is computationally difficult to identify an optimal solution or to precisely determine the minimal size of a local resolving set; in the worst case, the process takes exponential time. Different upper bound sequences of local fractional metric dimension are suggested in this article, along with a comparison analysis for certain families of Toeplitz and zero-divisor graphs. Furthermore, we note that the analyzed local fractional metric dimension upper bounds fall into three metric families: constant, limited, and unbounded.
On the structure and spectra of an induced subgraph of essential ideal graph of $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with unity. The essential ideal graph $\mathcal{E}_R$ of $R$ is a graph in which the vertex set comprises of set of all nonzero proper ideals of $R$ and two vertices $I$ and $K$ are adjacent if and only if $I+K$ is an essential ideal. In this paper, we discuss the structure of an induced subgraph of the essential ideal graph of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ as a $\mathscr{G}$-generalized join graph and thereby completely determine the structure of $\mathcal{E}_{\mathbb{Z}_{n}}$. Also, we prove a characterization of $\mathcal{E}_{\mathbb{Z}_{n}}$ to be Laplacian integral in terms of the vertex-weighted Laplacian matrix of annihilating ideal graph of $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ for $n= \prod_{i=1}^k p_i$. Further, we discuss the eigenvalues of various matrices like adjacency matrix, Laplacian matrix, signless Laplacian matrix, and normalized Laplacian matrix of the induced subgraph of the essential ideal graph of $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$. Finally, we obtain the upper bounds of spectral radius and algebraic connectivity of $\mathcal{E}_{\mathbb{Z}_{n}}$ and compute the values of $n$ for which these bounds are attained.
Strong resolving graph of the intersection graph in commutative rings
The intersection graph of ideals associated with a commutative unitary ring $R$ is the graph $G(R)$ whose vertices all non-trivial ideals of $R$ and there exists an edge between distinct vertices if and only if the intersection of them is non-zero. In this paper, the structure of the resolving graph of $G(R)$ is characterized and as an application, we evaluate the strong metric dimension of $G(R)$.
The additive-multiplicative distance matrix of a graph, and a novel third invariant
Graham showed with Pollak and Hoffman-Hosoya that for any directed graph $G$ with strong blocks $G_e$, the determinant $\det(D_G)$ and cofactor-sum $cof(D_G)$ of the distance matrix $D_G$ can be computed from the same quantities for the blocks $G_e$. This was extended to trees - and in our recent work to any graph - with multiplicative and $q$-distance matrices. For trees, we went further and unified all previous variants with weights in a unital commutative ring, into a distance matrix with additive and multiplicative edge-data.
In this work: (1) We introduce the additive-multiplicative distance matrix $D_G$ of every strongly connected graph $G$, using what we term the additive-multiplicative block-datum $\mathcal{G}$. This subsumes the previously studied additive, multiplicative, and $q$-distances for all graphs. (2) We introduce an invariant $κ(D_G)$ that seems novel to date, and use it to show "master" Graham-Hoffman-Hosoya (GHH) identities, which express $\det(D_G), cof(D_G)$ in terms of the blocks $G_e$. We show how these imply all previous variants. (3) We show $\det(.), cof(.), κ(.)$ depend only on the block-data for not just $D_G$, but also several minors of $D_G$. This was not studied in any setting to date; we show it in the "most general" additive-multiplicative setting, hence in all known settings. (4) We compute $D_G^{-1}$ in closed-form; this specializes to all known variants. In particular, we recover our previous formula for $D_T^{-1}$ for additive-multiplicative trees (which itself specializes to a result of Graham-Lovasz and answers a 2006 question of Bapat-Lal-Pati.) (5) We also show that not the Laplacian, but a closely related matrix is the "correct" one to use in $D_G^{-1}$ - for the most general additive-multiplicative matrix $D_G$ of each $G$. As examples, we compute in closed form $\det(D_G), cof(D_G), κ(D_G), D_G^{-1}$ for hypertrees.
$λ$-quiddités sur des produits directs d'anneaux
The aim of this article is to continue the study of the notion of $λ$-quiddity over a ring, which appeared during the study of Coxeter's friezes. For this, we will focus here on situations where the ring used can be seen as a direct product of unitary commutative rings. In particular, we will consider the cases of direct products of rings containing at least two rings of characteristic 0 and we will also consider some products of the type $\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z} \times \mathbb{Z}/m\mathbb{Z}$.
