Asymptotic normality of the giant component size in a random bipartite graph
This paper studies the giant component of the sparse random bipartite graph $G(n, n, p)$, where $p = c/n$ for a fixed constant $c > 1$. We prove that its size is asymptotically normal.
On the random minimum edge-disjoint spanning trees problem
It is well known that finding extremal values and structures can be hard in weighted graphs. However, if the weights are random, this problem can become way easier. In this paper, we examine the minimal weight of a union of $k$ edge-disjoint trees in a complete graph with independent and identically distributed edge weights. The limit of this value (for a given distribution) is known for $k=1,2$. We extend these results and find the limit value for any $k>2$. We also prove a related result regarding the structure of sparse random graphs.

In 1964 Erdős proved that $(1+\oh{1})) \frac{\eul \ln(2)}{4} k^2 2^{k}$ edges are sufficient to build a $k$-graph which is not two colorable. To this day, it is not known whether there exist such $k$-graphs with smaller number of edges. Erdős' bound is consequence of the fact that a hypergraph with $k^2/2$ vertices and $M(k)=(1+\oh{1}) \frac{\eul \ln(2)}{4} k^2 2^{k}$ randomly chosen edges of size $k$ is asymptotically almost surely not two colorable. Our first main result implies that for any $\varepsilon > 0$, any $k$-graph with $(1-\varepsilon) M(k)$ randomly and uniformly chosen edges is a.a.s. two colorable. The presented proof is an adaptation of the second moment method analogous to the developments of Achlioptas and Moore from 2002 who considered the problem with fixed size of edges and number of vertices tending to infinity. In the second part of the paper we consider the problem of algorithmic coloring of random $k$-graphs. We show that quite simple, and somewhat greedy procedure, a.a.s. finds a proper two coloring for random $k$-graphs on $k^2/2$ vertices, with at most $\Oh{k\ln k\cdot 2^k}$ edges. That is of the same asymptotic order as the analogue of the \emph{algorithmic barrier} defined by Achlioptas and Coja-Oghlan in 2008, for the case of fixed $k$.

The paper deals with a problem of Additive Combinatorics. Let ${\mathbf G}$ be a finite abelian group of order $N$. We prove that the number of subset triples $A,B,C\subset {\mathbf G}$ such that for any $x\in A$, $y\in B$ and $z\in C$ one has $x+y\ne z$ equals $$
3\cdot 4^N+N3^{N+1} + O((3-c_*)^N) $$ for some absolute constant $c_*>0$. This provides a tight estimate for the number of independent sets in a special 3-uniform linear hypergraph and gives a support for the natural conjecture concerning the maximal possible number of independent sets in such hypergraphs on $n$ vertices.

The paper deals with an extremal problem concerning colorings of hypergraphs with bounded edge degrees. Consider the family of $b$-simple hypergraphs, in which any two edges do not share more than $b$ common vertices. We prove that for $n\geqslant n_0(b)$, any $n$-uniform $b$-simple hypergraph with the maximum edge degree at most $c\cdot nr^{n-b}$ is $r$-colorable, where $c>0$ is an absolute constant. We also establish some applications of the main result.

The paper deals with an extremal problem concerning equitable colorings of uniform hyper\-graph. Recall that a vertex coloring of a hypergraph $H$ is called proper if there are no monochro-matic edges under this coloring. A hypergraph is said to be equitably $r$-colorable if there is a proper coloring with $r$ colors such that the sizes of any two color classes differ by at most one. In the present paper we prove that if the number of edges $|E(H)|\leq 0.01\left(\frac{n}{\ln n}\right)^{\frac {r-1}{r}}r^{n-1}$ then the hypergraph $H$ is equitably $r$-colorable provided $r<\sqrt[5]{\ln n}$.

The paper deals with extremal problems concerning colorings of hypergraphs. By using a random recoloring algorithm we show that any $n$-uniform simple (i.e. every two distinct edges share at most one vertex) hypergraph $H$ with maximum edge degree at most \[
Δ(H)\leq c\cdot nr^{n-1}, \] is $r$-colorable, where $c>0$ is an absolute constant. %We prove also that similar result holds for $b$-simple hypergraphs.
As an application of our proof technique we establish a new lower bound for Van der Waerden number $W(n,r)$, the minimum $N$ such that in any $r$-coloring of the set $\{1,...,N\}$ there exists a monochromatic arithmetic progression of length $n$. We show that \[
W(n,r)>c\cdot r^{n-1}, \] for some absolute constant $c>0$.
On $r$-colorability of random hypergraphs
The work deals with the threshold probablity for r-colorability in the binomial model H(n,k,p) of a random k-uniform hypergraph. We prove a lower bound for this threshold which improves the previously known results in the wide range of the parameters r=r(n) and k=k(n).
