Counterexamples to two conjectures on the diameter of clique-free graphs
Erdős et al. (JCT-B, 1989) conjectured that, for integers $r\ge 2$ and $δ\ge 2$ with $3r-1\midδ$, every connected $K_{2r+1}$-free graph of order $n$ and minimum degree $δ$ has diameter at most $ \frac{3r-1}{r}\cdot \frac{n}δ+O(1)$. Czabarka et al. (JCT-B, 2021) later proposed the following generalization: for every $k\ge 3$ and $δ\ge\left\lceil\frac{3k}{2}\right\rceil-1$, every connected $K_{k+1}$-free graph of order $n$ and minimum degree at least $δ$ has diameter at most $(3-\frac{2}{k})\cdot\frac{n}δ+O(1)$. We disprove the latter conjecture, including its $k$-colorable version, for every $k\ge 7$ and sufficiently large $δ$. When $k=2r\ge 8$ and $3r-1\midδ$, our construction also disproves the conjecture of Erdős et al. (JCT-B, 1989).

Tight bounds for generalized power domination in regular graphs
Dorbec et al. [SIAM J. Discrete Math., 27 (2013)] conjectured that, for all integers $k\geq1$ and $r\geq3$, every connected $r$-regular graph $G$ of order $n$, other than $K_{r,r}$, satisfies $γ_{P,k}(G)\leq n/(r+1)$. After disproving this conjecture, Chen et al.[Graphs Combin., 38 (2022)] proposed a corresponding conjecture for claw-free regular graphs. In this paper, we prove this conjecture: for integers $k\geq\ell\geq1$, every connected claw-free $(k+\ell+1)$-regular graph $G$ of order $n$ satisfies $γ_{P,k}(G)\leq n/(k+\ell+2)$, and this bound is tight. Moreover, without the claw-free assumption, we show that, for each fixed integer $k\geq1$, the supremum of $γ_{P,k}(G)/\lvert V(G)\rvert$ over all connected $r$-regular graphs $G$ is asymptotic to $(\ln r)/r$ as $r\to\infty$.

On monochromatic path covers conjecture of Erdős--Gyárfás
Erdős and Gyárfás conjectured in 1995 that, in every red--blue edge-coloring of a complete graph $K_n$, the vertex set can be covered by at most $\sqrt n$ monochromatic paths, all of the same color. Pokrovskiy, Versteegen and Williams (JCT-B, 2026) proved the conjecture for all sufficiently large $n$. In this paper, by using minimal counterexample method, we confirm the conjecture completely.

On regular homogeneously traceable nonhamiltonian graphs
A graph is homogeneously traceable if each vertex is an endpoint of a Hamiltonian path. Chartrand, Gould, and Kapoor (1979) proved irregular homogeneously traceable nonhamiltonian graphs exist for every order $n\ge 9$. Hu and Zhan (DAM, 2022) considered the $3$-regular and $4$-regular cases and asked which order $n$ can be realized by a $k$-regular homogeneously traceable nonhamiltonian graph. Recently, Liu and Qiao (DAM, 2026) showed that $n=p(k-1)+q\ge 6(k-1)+q$ can be realized if $k\ge 5$ is odd and $q\in\{0,2,4,6\}$, or $k\ge 6$ is even and $q\in\{0,1,...,6\}$. In this paper, we show that for any $k\ge 6$ and $n\ge 6(k-2)$, there exists a $k$-regular homogeneously traceable nonhamiltonian graph of order $n$.

The Turán number of the triangular pyramid of 4-layers
The Turán number $ex(n,H)$ of a graph $H$ is the maximum number of edges in any $H$-free graph on $n$ vertices. The triangular pyramid of $k$-layers, denoted by $TP_k$, is a generalization of a triangle. The Turán problems of a triangular pyramid with small layers have been studied widely by Liu (E-JC, 2013), Xiao, Katona, Xiao and Zamora (DAM, 2022), Ghosh, Győri, Paulos, Xiao and Zamora (DAM, 2022). Moreover, Ghosh et al. conjectured that $ex(n, TP_4)=\frac{1}{4}n^2+Θ(n^{\frac{4}{3}})$. In this note, we confirm this conjecture.

On walk domination: Between different types of walks and $m_3$-path
Given two non-adjacent vertices \( u \) and \( v \), we say a $uv$-walk \( W \) dominates a $uv$-walk \( W' \) if every internal vertex of \( W' \) is adjacent to some internal vertex of \( W \) or belongs to \( W \). A class of walks \(\mathbf{A}\) dominates a class of walks \(\mathbf{B}\) if for every pair of non-adjacent vertices $u,v$ in the graph, every $uv$-walk in \(\mathbf{A}\) dominates every $uv$-walk in \(\mathbf{B}\). This paper investigates the domination relationships among various types of walks connecting two non-adjacent vertices in a graph. In particular, we focus on the problem which is proposed in [S. B. Tondato, Graphs Combin. 40 (2024)]. We study the domination between different walk types (shortest paths, toll walks, weakly toll walks, $l_k$-paths for $k\in \left\{2,3\right\}$) and $m_3$-paths. And we show how these relationships give rise to characterizations of graph classes.

Generalized power domination in claw-free regular graphs
In this paper, we give a series of couterexamples to negate a conjecture and hence answer an open question on the $k$-power domination of regular graphs (see [P. Dorbec et al., SIAM J. Discrete Math., 27 (2013), pp. 1559-1574]). Furthermore, we focus on the study of $k$-power domination of claw-free graphs. We show that for $l\in\{2,3\}$ and $k\ge l$, the $k$-power domination number of a connected claw-free $(k+l+1)$-regular graph on $n$ vertices is at most $\frac{n}{k+l+2}$, and this bound is tight.

A Note on Roman \{2\}-domination problem in graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
For a graph $G=(V,E)$, a Roman $\{2\}$-dominating function (R2DF)$f:V\rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ has the property that for every vertex $v\in V$ with $f(v)=0$, either there exists a neighbor $u\in N(v)$, with $f(u)=2$, or at least two neighbors $x,y\in N(v)$ having $f(x)=f(y)=1$. The weight of a R2DF is the sum $f(V)=\sum_{v\in V}{f(v)}$, and the minimum weight of a R2DF is the Roman $\{2\}$-domination number $γ_{\{R2\}}(G)$. A R2DF is independent if the set of vertices having positive function values is an independent set. The independent Roman $\{2\}$-domination number $i_{\{R2\}}(G)$ is the minimum weight of an independent Roman $\{2\}$-dominating function on $G$. In this paper, we show that the decision problem associated with $γ_{\{R2\}}(G)$ is NP-complete even when restricted to split graphs. We design a linear time algorithm for computing the value of $i_{\{R2\}}(T)$ for any tree $T$. This answers an open problem raised by Rahmouni and Chellali [Independent Roman $\{2\}$-domination in graphs, Discrete Applied Mathematics 236 (2018), 408-414]. Chellali, Haynes, Hedetniemi and McRae \cite{chellali2016roman} have showed that Roman $\{2\}$-domination number can be computed for the class of trees in linear time. As a generalization, we present a linear time algorithm for solving the Roman $\{2\}$-domination problem in block graphs.
