The Jacobian of a graph and graph automorphisms
In the present paper we investigate the faithfulness of certain linear representations of groups of automorphisms of a graph $X$ in the group of symmetries of the Jacobian of $X$. As a consequence we show that if a $3$-edge-connected graph $X$ admits a nonabelian semiregular group of automorphims, then the Jacobian of $X$ cannot be cyclic. In particular, Cayley graphs of degree at least three arising from nonabelian groups have non-cyclic Jacobians. While the size of the Jacobian of $X$ is well-understood - it is equal to the number of spanning trees of $X$ - the combinatorial interpretation of the rank of Jacobian of a graph is unknown. Our paper presents a contribution in this direction.
On a representation of the automorphism group of a graph in a unimodular group
We investigate a representation of the automorphism group of a connected graph $X$ in the group of unimodular matrices $U_β$ of dimension $β$, where $β$ is the Betti number of graph $X$. We classify the graphs for which the automorphism group does not embed into $U_β$. It follows that if $X$ has no pendant vertices and $X$ is not a simple cycle, then the representation is faithful and $\mathrm{Aut}\,X$ acts faithfully on $H_1(X,\mathbb{Z})$. The latter statement can be viewed as a discrete analogue of a classical Hurwitz's theorem on Riemann surfaces of genera greater than one.
On the Clar Number of Benzenoid Graphs
Published in MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 80 (2018) 173-188 • Search Publication
A Clar set of a benzenoid graph $B$ is a maximum set of independent alternating hexagons over all perfect matchings of $B$. The Clar number of $B$, denoted by ${\rm Cl}(B)$, is the number of hexagons in a Clar set for $B$. In this paper, we first prove some results on the independence number of subcubic trees to study the Clar number of catacondensed benzenoid graphs. As the main result of the paper we prove an upper bound for the Clar number of catacondensed benzenoid graphs and characterize the graphs that attain this bound. More precisely, it is shown that for a catacondensed benzenoid graph $B$ with $n$ hexagons ${\rm Cl}(B) \leq [(2n+1)/3]$.
Vertex-transitive Haar graphs that are not Cayley graphs

In a recent paper (arXiv:1505.01475 ) Estélyi and Pisanski raised a question whether there exist vertex-transitive Haar graphs that are not Cayley graphs. In this note we construct an infinite family of trivalent Haar graphs that are vertex-transitive but non-Cayley. The smallest example has 40 vertices and is the well-known Kronecker cover over the dodecahedron graph $G(10,2)$, occurring as the graph $40$ in the Foster census of connected symmetric trivalent graphs.

Which Haar graphs are Cayley graphs?
For a finite group $G$ and subset $S$ of $G,$ the Haar graph $H(G,S)$ is a bipartite regular graph, defined as a regular $G$-cover of a dipole with $|S|$ parallel arcs labelled by elements of $S$. If $G$ is an abelian group, then $H(G,S)$ is well-known to be a Cayley graph; however, there are examples of non-abelian groups $G$ and subsets $S$ when this is not the case. In this paper we address the problem of classifying finite non-abelian groups $G$ with the property that every Haar graph $H(G,S)$ is a Cayley graph. An equivalent condition for $H(G,S)$ to be a Cayley graph of a group containing $G$ is derived in terms of $G, S$ and $\mathrm{Aut }G$. It is also shown that the dihedral groups, which are solutions to the above problem, are $\mathbb{Z}_2^2,D_3,D_4$ and $D_{5}$.

On groups all of whose undirected Cayley graphs of bounded valency are integral
A finite group $G$ is called Cayley integral if all undirected Cayley graphs over $G$ are integral, i.e., all eigenvalues of the graphs are integers. The Cayley integral groups have been determined by Kloster and Sander in the abelian case, and by Abdollahi and Jazaeri, and independently by Ahmady, Bell and Mohar in the non-abelian case. In this paper we generalize this class of groups by introducing the class $\mathcal{G}_k$ of finite groups $G$ for which all graphs $\mathrm{Cay}(G,S)$ are integral if $|S| \le k$. It will be proved that $\mathcal{G}_k$ consists of the Cayley integral groups if $k \ge 6;$ and the classes $\mathcal{G}_4$ and $\mathcal{G}_5$ are equal, and consist of:\ (1) the Cayley integral groups, (2) the generalized dicyclic groups $\mathrm{Dic}(E_{3^n} \times \mathbb{Z}_6),$ where $n \ge 1$.
