Perfect state transfer on Cayley graphs over dihedral groups: A complete and practical characterization
Perfect state transfer on graphs has attracted extensive attention due to its application in quantum information and quantum computation. Explicit characterizations of connection sets admitting perfect state transfer in Cayley graphs are rare and, so far, are known only for a few abelian Cayley graphs. In this paper, we characterize the conjugation-closed connection sets of connected Cayley graphs over dihedral groups that admit perfect state transfer. By applying Ramanujan sums, Möbius inversion, and arguments based on the $p$-adic exponential valuation of rational numbers, we convert the eigenvalue constraints imposed by perfect state transfer into explicit structural conditions on the connection set. This yields a complete and practical characterization, which gives an effective criterion for recognizing and constructing such Cayley graphs and also determines the exact minimum perfect state transfer time.

Information and Locality in Cayley Graphs
A de Bruijn sequence is the cyclic prototype of a Cayley-graph observation problem: when does the ordered label word on a translated window $gY$ determine the vertex $g$? We distinguish three parameters. The unrestricted number $\operatorname{sep}_q(G)$ minimizes an arbitrary separating pattern; the connected number $\operatorname{csep}_q(G,S)$ requires a connected Cayley window containing $Y_S=\{1\}\cup S$; and the one-step number $χ_1(G,S)$ fixes $Y_S$ and minimizes the alphabet. Thus $\operatorname{sep}_q$ is a group-level baseline, $\operatorname{csep}_q$ measures the cost of locality, and $χ_1$ tests the smallest prescribed local window. The organizing theme is the tension between information and locality. Carbon tori test the gap between $\operatorname{sep}_q$ and $\operatorname{csep}_q$: for generalized dihedral groups $\mathbb{F}_{\ell^d}^{\times}\rtimes C_2$ we prove, for odd prime powers $\ell$, the sharp baseline $\operatorname{sep}_\ell=d+1$ and construct connected zig-zag windows, while the order-$14$ Heawood torus satisfies $\operatorname{sep}_4=2$ and $\operatorname{csep}_4=4$. The spherical $A_5$ example and a finite simple-group comparison test the fixed one-step window: explicit symmetric cubic generating tuples give $χ_1(A_5,S)=3$ and $χ_1(\operatorname{PSL}_2(\mathbb{F}_7),S)=4$, both at the counting bound, with structured matrix-coefficient certificates. Cyclic-coset packings, finite-field coordinates, and restricted matrix coefficients are used only as the construction tools these two examples require.
Coloring semiminimal Cayley Graphs
In 1978 Babai raised the question whether all semiminimal Cayley graphs have bounded chromatic number. In this paper we show that semiminimal Cayley graphs of abelian and generalized dihedral groups have circular chromatic number at most 4, thus extending a result of Barajas and Serra.

Perfect state transfer in Grover walks on normal Cayley graphs
A Cayley graph $\operatorname{Cay}(Γ,S)$ over a finite group $Γ$ is said to be normal if its connection set $S$ is a union of some conjugacy classes of $Γ$. This paper investigates perfect state transfer in Grover walks on normal Cayley graphs. The Grover walk is a widely studied discrete-time quantum walk. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the occurrence of perfect state transfer on normal Cayley graphs. As applications, we derive explicit spectral criteria for perfect state transfer on Cayley graphs over abelian groups, dicyclic groups, and dihedral groups. These results yield several infinite families of Cayley graphs exhibiting perfect state transfer. We further obtain simple combinatorial characterizations of the existence of perfect state transfer on Cayley graphs over dihedral and dicyclic groups. Our general characterization also recovers a number of previously known results as special cases. As a further consequence, we obtain a complete characterization of perfect state transfer on unitary Cayley graphs. In particular, we prove that exactly four graphs in the class of unitary Cayley graphs exhibit perfect state transfer.

Computation of small reflective and dihedral Ramsey numbers
Throughout, all graphs are simple, finite and have vertex sets of the form $\{ 0, 1, 2, \ldots, n - 1 \}$ for some $n \in \mathbb{N}$. For graphs $G$ and $H$, and a permutation group $Γ$ on the vertex set of $H$, we say that $H$ is $Γ$-embeddable in $G$ if there exists a graph homomorphism from $H$ to $G$ of the form $ψ\circ \varphi$, where $\varphi \in Γ$ and $ψ$ is an increasing injection. Recently, standard and ordered Ramsey numbers of graphs were unified through the introduction of permutational Ramsey numbers, defined as follows. For graphs $H_1, H_2, \ldots, H_k$ and permutation groups $Γ_1, Γ_2, \ldots, Γ_k$ on their respective vertex sets, the permutational Ramsey number $R(H_1^{Γ_1}, H_2^{Γ_2}, \ldots, H_k^{Γ_k})$ is the minimum $n \in \mathbb{N}$ such that for every $k$-edge-coloring of a complete graph on $n$ vertices, there exists some $j \in \{1, 2, \ldots, k\}$ for which $H_j$ is $Γ_j$-embeddable in the spanning subgraph of the complete graph comprising the edges of color $j$. Here, we consider reflective (resp. dihedral) Ramsey numbers, which are a specific class of permutational Ramsey numbers in which each group $Γ_j$ is the reflection group (resp. dihedral group) on the naturally ordered vertex set of $H_j$. Focusing on the two-color case, we apply the SAT-based approach originally proposed by Poljak for ordered Ramsey numbers and recently extended to cyclic Ramsey numbers. We utilize the Kissat SAT solver to obtain exact values and lower bounds for small reflective and dihedral Ramsey numbers whose two arguments belong to the following graph classes: monotone and alternating paths, monotone cycles, start-central stars, complete graphs and nested matchings. We also derive several general results and formulate conjectures based on the computational findings.

The Left-Regular Stabilizer of Zaks' Hamiltonian Cycle in the Pancake Graph
Let $P_n=\mathrm{Cay}(S_n,\{r_2,\ldots,r_n\})$ be the pancake graph, with prefix reversals acting on the right. Conjugating Zaks' suffix-reversal permutation Gray code by the full reversal gives a distinguished Hamiltonian cycle $Z_n$ in $P_n$. We determine the stabilizer of this particular cycle under the left regular action of $S_n$. If $ρ=r_{n-1}r_n=[n,1,2,\ldots,n-1]$, then, for every $n\ge3$, $\mathrm{Stab}_{L(S_n)}(Z_n)=\langle L_ρ,L_{r_n}\rangle\cong D_n$, where $D_n$ denotes the dihedral group of order $2n$. The inclusion $\supseteq$ follows from the recursive block decomposition $W_n=(W_{n-1}r_n)^{n-1}W_{n-1}$ and from the palindromy $W_n^R=W_n$. The reverse inclusion follows from a general cyclic-order rigidity lemma: if a Hamiltonian cycle on a finite group is invariant under $L_a$, with $\mathrm{ord}(a)\ge3$, then every left translation preserving the same cycle conjugates $a$ to $a$ or $a^{-1}$. For $n\ge5$, Deng-Zhang's automorphism theorem gives the same stabilizer inside $\mathrm{Aut}(P_n)$; the exceptional ranks are handled separately. We also compute the compression factor of $Z_n$: it is $n$ for $n\ge4$ and $6$ for $n=3$.

Steinerberger Curvature On Digraphs -- Discrete Bonnet-Myers and Lichnerowicz Theorems
Steinerberger curvature encodes the global distance geometry of a graph through an equilibrium measure. In this paper, we derive explicit curvature formulas for undirected Cayley graphs of dihedral groups $D_n$ and generalized quaternion groups $Q_{4m}$. We then extend Steinerberger curvature to strongly connected simple digraphs by introducing in-curvature and out-curvature, reflecting the asymmetry of directed distances. For these directed curvatures, we establish structural properties, including negativity criteria and a permutation relation between in- and out-curvature. Our main results are directed analogues of the Bonnet--Myers, Cheng and Lichnerowicz theorems, together with reverse Bonnet--Myers inequalities for directed diameter and out-radius, and an upper bound for in-radius in terms of total curvature.

Cluster parking functions II: $q,t$-dihedral sieving via diagonal coinvariants
In a previous work, we defined the complex of cluster parking functions. On one side, they encode the type-refined enumeration of faces of the cluster complex, and on the other side, they have a reduced homology which is isomorphic to (ungraded) diagonal coinvariants. The goal of this work is to take into account the underlying dihedral symmetry. We thus have a product of a dihedral group and a symmetric group (there is a precise conjecture in the case of other finite Coxeter groups, but we focus on symmetric groups because of technicalities about diagonal coinvariants beyond this case). Under the action of the product group, the reduced homology of cluster parking functions is conjecturally isomorphic to diagonal coinvariants up to tensoring by a sign character of the dihedral group. This isomorphism can be reformulated as a dihedral sieving phenomenon. The main technical contribution is the definition of the dihedral automorphism group of cluster parking functions, and we discuss various features of the reduced homology character and its conjectural connection with diagonal coinvariants.
Eternal domination in Cayley graphs
Eternal domination is a process in which a set of guards occupying a dominating set on a graph protects against an infinite sequence of attacks. After a vertex is attacked, one guard must move along an edge to the attacked vertex and each of the remaining guards may move along an edge so that the guards again occupy a dominating set on the graph and can defend the next attack. The minimum number of guards needed in a graph $Γ$ is the eternal domination number, denoted by $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^\infty(Γ)$. In this paper, we show that the eternal domination number of a vertex-transitive graph with an efficient dominating set is equal to its domination number. We show that a Cayley graph on a generalized dihedral group whose connection set contains few or many reflections is efficiently dominated. Then, we provide an infinite family of connected Cayley graphs for which $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^{\infty}(Γ) = γ(Γ)+1$, generalizing a result of [Braga et al., J. Combin. Math. Combin. Comput. 96 (2016), 13--22]. Finally, we build an infinite family of connected Cayley graphs with $γ_{\mathrm{all}}^\infty(Γ) \geq γ(Γ)+2$.

Graded Betti numbers of generalized split--join graphs and applications
We determine the full graded Betti tables of graph families that subsume several classes studied recently in the literature, namely the generalized multiple complete split-like graphs and the generalized clique-star graphs with arbitrary clique block sizes. The method combines Hochster's formula with a precise decomposition of the associated independence complexes into disjoint unions of simplices and iterated joins of discrete complexes. This reduces every graded Betti number to an explicit coefficient extraction formula and yields closed expressions for the linear strand, higher strands, Hilbert series, regularity, projective dimension, and extremal Betti numbers. In particular, we prove a sharp criterion for $2$-linear resolution and identify the regularity corner in terms of the number of nontrivial clique blocks. As applications, we recover and extend earlier results on equal-block split-like graphs, obtain complete formulas for pineapple graphs, and derive consequences for power graphs of cyclic groups, elementary abelian groups, and prime-power dihedral groups.

Panmagic permutations and N-ary groups
Published in PUMP Journal of Undergraduate Research, 8 (2025), 195-212 • View PublicationBIB
Panmagic permutations are permutations whose matrices are panmagic squares. Positions of 1-s in the latter describe maximal configurations of non-attacking queens on a toroidal chessboard. Some of them, affine panmagic permutations, can be conveniently described by linear formulas of modular arithmetic, and we show that their sets have remarkable algebraic properties when one multiplies three or more of them rather than just two. In group-theoretic terms, they are special cosets of the dihedral group in the group of all affine permutations. We also investigate decomposition of panmagic permutations into disjoint cycles and find many connections with classical topics of number theory: multiplicative orders, 4k+1 primes, primitive roots and quadratic residues.

Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci Curvature of Digraphs via Optimal Transport Couplings
In this paper, we study the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature of strongly connected locally finite digraphs through an explicit optimal-coupling construction. For an arc of a digraph, we derive a computable curvature formula by constructing a coupling between the probability measures at its tail and head, and by proving its optimality using a suitable $1$-Lipschitz function. The formula is not only effective for direct computation, but also unifies several known results: in particular, it recovers the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature formula for Cayley graphs of Right-Angled Artin--Coxeter Hybrid groups as a special case and gives shorter proofs of curvature results arising from matching-type conditions. We then characterize arcs with zero Ricci curvature through perfect distance matching and perfect distance partitions. We further prove that, under suitable assumptions, such arc curvature in directed Cayley graphs increases when an inverse generator or a new generator is added to the generating set. As applications, we compute the curvature of directed Cayley graphs of dihedral groups and generalized quaternion groups, including $Γ(D_n,\{a,b\})$, $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,b\})$, $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,a^{-1},b\})$ and $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,b,b^{-1}\})$. Finally, we provide an algorithm for computing the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature of Cayley graphs of finitely generated groups with prescribed generating sets, together with complete curvature tables for several important families of finite groups.

Remarks about the Moebius-Kantor graph
The Moebius-Kantor graph MK=G(8,3) is a Cayley graph of three non-abelian groups, the Pauli group P(1), the semi-dihedral group SD(16), as well as the dihedral group D(16) of order 16. In topological graph theory, it illustrates the Heawood number 7 of the torus and leads to the Tucker group Aut(MK), the unique group of genus 2. We compute the Lefschetz numbers to illustrate the Brouwer-Lefschetz fixed point theorem. MK is also the dual of the 2-skeleton complex of the 3-sphere G. The graph represents one of flat Clifford tori of a Hopf fibration in the 3-sphere G=K(2,2,2,2) reflecting that Coxeter saw that MK is a subgraph of the tesseract G*. It carries a metric d so that (MK,d) has only one algebraic group structure (P(1),*) that preserves the metric. It makes the Pauli group natural, similarly as the Moebius ladder M(16) makes the dihedral group D(16) natural, forcing the algebraic structure from the metric structure.

The limits of Schur multipliers in Pólya conversion problems for the $q$-permanent function
This paper studies generalized Pólya conversion problems for the $q$-permanent \[ \operatorname{P}_q(A)=\sum_{σ\in S_n} q^{\ell(σ)} a_{1,σ(1)} \cdots a_{n,σ(n)}, \] where $q\in\mathbb{C}^*$ and $\ell(σ)$ is the permutation length. We show that for $n\geq 3$ and $q\neq \pm1$, the $q$-permanent is not linearly convertible to the determinant or the permanent, and we completely classify and give a geometric interpretation of the special case $n=2$. Focusing on Schur multiplier transformations, we characterize the space of Schur multiplier preservers. For $|q|\neq1$, the preserver exponents is a $(2n-2)$-dimensional vector space consisting of additive matrices satisfying a discrete Monge relation. In contrast, for $q$ on the unit circle, the solution space becomes a countable union of affine lattices. For lower Hessenberg matrices, we prove that the rigidity phenomenon disappears, yielding an explicit determinantal reduction of the $q$-permanent and an $O(n^3)$ evaluation algorithm. The central results of this paper establish sharp rigidity thresholds governing permutational symmetries and mixed conversion identities. First, we classify permutational converter exponents and show that, for $n\geq4$, the admissible symmetries are precisely the elements of the dihedral group. Second, we solve a mixed conversion problem that expresses the $q$-permanent as a linear combination of the determinant and the permanent, and prove that the corresponding solution space is nonempty if and only if $n\leq4$, in which case it decomposes into finitely many affine components modeled on the preserver exponent space. This mixed formulation yields a direct algebraic characterization of the $q$-permanent's zero locus for $n \le 4$ via a generalized Pólya identity.

Note on a magic rectangle set on dihedral group
Let $Γ$ be a group of order $mnk$ and $MRS_Γ(m,n;k)=(a_{i,j}^s)_{m\times n}$ be a collection of $k$ arrays $m\times n$ whose entries are all distinct elements of $Γ$. If there exist elements $ρ,σ\inΓ$ such that for every row $i$, there exists an ordering of elements such that $$ a_{i,j_1}^s a_{i,j_2}^s \dots a_{i,j_{n-1}}^s a_{i,j_n}^s= ρ $$ and for every column $j$ there exists an ordering of elements such that $$ a_{i_1,j}^s a_{i_2,j}^s \dots a_{i_{m-1},j}^s a_{i_m,j}^s = σ, $$ then $MRS_Γ(m,n;k)$ is called a \emph{$Γ$-magic rectangle set}. We investigate magic rectangle sets over dihedral groups and prove that $\mathrm{MRS}_Γ(m,n;k)$ exists for every dihedral group $Γ$ of order $mnk$, provided that $m$ and $n$ are even. As a consequence, we obtain broad existence results for magic rectangles and magic squares over dihedral groups.

Minimal generating sets of transfer systems for more non-Abelian Groups
For a finite group $G$, $N_\infty$ operads encode collections of norm maps, and by work of Blumberg--Hill and Rubin their homotopy category is equivalent to the poset of $G$--transfer systems on the subgroup lattice of $G$. In \cite{ABB+25} the authors defined the \emph{width} $w(G)$ as the minimal size of a generating set for the complete $G$--transfer system and identified it with the number of conjugacy classes of proper meet irreducible subgroups of $G$, and the \emph{complexity} $c(G)$ as the maximum, over all transfer systems $T$, of the size of a minimal generating set for $T$. We compute $w(G)$ for the semidihedral groups $\SD_{2^n}$ ($n\ge 4$) and the affine Frobenius groups $\AGL(1,p^n)\cong \mathbb{F}_{p^n}\rtimes \mathbb{F}_{p^n}^\times$, extending existing calculations and highlighting how subgroup lattice structure governs equivariant multiplicative complexity. We also compute $c(D_{p^n})$ for dihedral groups of order $2p^n$ with $p$ an odd prime, establishing $c(D_{p^n})=\lfloor 3n/2\rfloor+1$, and derive the lower bound $c(\SD_{2^n})\ge\lfloor 5(n-1)/2\rfloor$.
Perfect state transfer in Grover walks on dihedral Cayley graphs
The paper investigates perfect state transfer (PST) in Grover walks on Cayley graphs over the dihedral group $D_n$. The Grover walk is a discrete-time quantum walk widely studied in quantum information processing. A Cayley graph $\operatorname{Cay}(Γ,S)$ is called normal if $S$ is the union of some conjugacy classes of the group $Γ$; otherwise, it is called non-normal. Most existing studies have been restricted to Cayley graphs over abelian groups. In contrast, we investigate both normal and non-normal cases for Cayley graphs over the non-abelian group $D_n$. By examining the parity of $n$ and the normality of the Cayley graph, we obtain a complete characterization of PST on $\operatorname{Cay}(D_n,S)$. In particular, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the occurrence of PST in all possible cases, and prove that PST does not occur for normal Cayley graphs when $n$ is odd. Furthermore, we construct several infinite families of normal and non-normal Cayley graphs $\operatorname{Cay}(D_n,S)$ that exhibit PST, illustrating the application of the main result. Our approach is based on the representation theory of the dihedral group.

Formalizing $A_1^{(1)}$ Curve Neighborhoods in Lean 4
Combinatorial curve neighborhoods are somewhat foundational when setting up the quantum Schubert calculus for affine flag manifolds. In the specific case of type $A_1^{(1)}$, you can encode these neighborhoods entirely within the moment graph of the infinite dihedral group $D_\infty$. Building on the framework developed by Mihalcea and Norton, this paper presents a complete, axiom-free formalization of these combinatorial curve neighborhoods in Lean 4. Rather than just wrapping mathematical statements, we formalized $D_\infty$ directly as a Coxeter system to explicitly compute length functions and degree maps. Reachable sets are defined through edge chains bounded by specific degrees, and we ultimately characterize the curve neighborhood by the maximal vertices inside these sets. The core effort here lies in formally verifying the explicit combinatorial formulas for curve neighborhoods of arbitrary elements. Interestingly, by restricting our search space to finite sets, we also managed to extract a fully computable version of these neighborhoods.

Transfer Operators and Independence Polynomials for Strong Powers of Circulant Graphs
We study independent sets in strong powers of circulant graphs using a transfer matrix formulation. The compatibility constraints separate into intra-layer and inter-layer components, yielding a transfer operator that is equivariant under the dihedral group action. The characteristic polynomial of the transfer operator factors into an \emph{anomalous} component (arising from the trivial isotypic component, with rational coefficients) and a \emph{cyclotomic} component (arising from nontrivial Fourier modes, splitting over the maximal real cyclotomic subfield). We show that the spectral radius is attained in the trivial isotypic component, so the dominant exponential growth is governed by a low-dimensional orbit-compressed operator. The independence polynomial is computed exactly for strong cylinders and tori, with the cyclotomic sector contributing a sparse correction confined to high-weight coefficients. All results are verified for $C_7$.
Normality Of Quartic Cayley Graphs On Regular p-Groups: A CFSG-Free Approach
Relying on the Classification of Finite Simple Groups it was shown by Feng and Xu (Discrete Math., 2005) that every quartic Cayley graph of a regular $p$-group, $p \neq 2,5$, is normal. In this paper a CFSG-free proof of Feng-Xu theorem is given. Along the way it is also proved that for an arbitrary $p$-group $G$ with a minimum set $\{a,b\}$ of two generators, in the corresponding Cayley graph $\mathrm{Cay}(G,\{a,a^{-1},b,b^{-1}\})$ the induced action of vertex stabilizer on the neighbors' set is contained in the dihedral group $D_8$.
