Neighboring seeds in affine type: Universal coefficients and finite mutation-type
Neighboring seeds in a cluster algebra of affine type are seeds that are as close as possible to the boundary of the g-vector fan. This short note highlights the characterization of neighboring seeds given in a recent paper of Reading, Rupel, and Stella and applies that characterization in two ways. We prove a conjecture on the construction of universal geometric cluster algebras of affine type. We also characterize extended exchange matrices of affine type that are mutation-finite.

Theta functions in acyclic affine type
We characterize the theta functions for vectors in the imaginary wall in a cluster algebra of acyclic affine type and compute some of their structure constants. One of the structure constant computations can be interpreted as new "imaginary" exchange relations among cluster variables. We show that theta functions in the imaginary wall span a subalgebra of the cluster algebra that we call the imaginary subalgebra, which decomposes as a tensor product of tube subalgebras that are generalized cluster algebras of type C. Our proofs exploit mutation-symmetries of the exchange matrix, an earlier characterization of dominance regions in affine type, and combinatorial models for cluster scattering diagrams of acyclic affine type.

Geometric structures of $G$-fans associated with rank $3$ cluster-cyclic exchange matrices
In this paper, we investigate the geometric structures of $G$-fans associated with rank $3$ real cluster-cyclic exchange matrices. In this class, a simple recursion for tropical signs was found, which enables us to study the detailed properties of $c$-, $g$-vectors. We introduce two kinds of upper bounds of the $G$-fans. The first one is the global upper bound, which comes from a hyperbolic surface containing all $g$-vectors after an initial mutation. The second one is the local upper bound, which reflects the internal separateness structure. As applications, we prove that there is no periodicity among $g$-vectors, and we completely determine the sign of $g$-vectors. We also prove the monotonicity of $g$-vectors under the minimum assumption. Moreover, we show that the three global upper bounds can be simplified to a single uniform upper bound.

Sign-coherence and tropical sign pattern for rank $3$ real cluster-cyclic exchange matrices
The sign-coherence about $c$-vectors was conjectured by Fomin-Zelevinsky and solved completely by Gross-Hacking-Keel-Kontsevich for integer skew-symmetrizable case. We prove this conjecture associated with $c$-vectors for rank 3 real cluster-cyclic skew-symmetrizable case. Simultaneously, we establish their self-contained recursion and monotonicity. Then, these $c$-vectors are proved to be roots of certain quadratic equations. Based on these results, we prove that the corresponding exchange graphs of $C$-pattern and $G$-pattern are $3$-regular trees. We also study the structure of tropical signs and equip the dihedral group $\mathrm{D}_6$ with a cluster realization via certain mutations.

Real $C$-, $G$-structures and sign-coherence of cluster algebras
We generalize the theory of integer $C$-, $G$-matrices in cluster algebras to the real case. By a skew-symmetrizing method, we can reduce the problem of skew-symmetrizable patterns to the one of skew-symmetric patterns. In this sense, we extend the sign-coherence of integer $C$-, $G$-matrices proved by Gross-Hacking-Keel-Kontsevich to a more general real class called of quasi-integer type. Furthermore, we give a complete classification of this type by a combinatorial method of real weighted quivers. However, the sign-coherence of real $C$-, $G$-matrices does not always hold in general. For this purpose, we classify all the rank $2$ case and the finite type case via the Coxeter diagrams. We also give two conjectures about the real exchange matrices and $C$-, $G$-matrices. Under these conjectures, the dual mutation, $G$-fan structure and synchronicity property hold. As an application, the isomorphism of several kinds of exchange graphs is studied.

Dilogarithm identities of higher degree and cluster $a$-variable periodicity
We use the periodicities of cluster groupoid mutations established by Li and the second author to prove that the dilogarithm identities of higher degree obtained by Nakanishi follow from the classical dilogarithm identities associated to a periodicity of cluster mutations when the exchange matrix is full rank.

A cluster theory approach from mutation invariants to Diophantine equations
In this paper, we define and classify the sign-equivalent exchange matrices. We give a Diophantine explanation for the differences between rank 2 cluster algebras of finite type and affine type based on \cite{CL24}. We classify the positive integer points of the Markov mutation invariant and its variant. As an application, several classes of Diophantine equations with cluster algebraic structures are exhibited.

Local and global patterns of rank 3 $G$-fans of totally-infinite type
We focus on the $G$-fans associated with cluster patterns whose initial exchange matrices are of infinite type. We study the asymptotic behavior of the $g$-vectors around the initial $G$-cone under the alternating mutations for two indices of infinite type. In the rank 3 case, we classify them into several patterns. As an application, the incompleteness of the $G$-fans of infinite type is proved. We observed that the local pattern of a rank 3 $G$-fan of totally-infinite type classified by the above types correlates with its global pattern. Following the classification of the local patterns (together with the Markov constant), we present several prototypical examples of the global patterns of the rank 3 $G$-fans of totally-infinite type, many of which are new in the literature.

Shard modules
Motivated by the goal of studying cluster algebras in infinite type, we study the stability domains of modules for the preprojective algebra in the corresponding infinite types. Specifically, we study real bricks: those modules whose endomorphism algebra is a division ring and which have no self-extensions. We define "shard modules" to be those real bricks whose stability domain is as large as possible (meaning, of dimension one less than the rank of the preprojective algebra). We show that all real bricks are obtained by applying the Baumann-Kamnitzer reflection functors to simple modules, and we give a recursive formula for the stability domain of a real brick. We show that shard modules are in bijection with Nathan Reading's "shards", and that their stability domains are the shards; we also establish many foundational results about shards in infinite type which have not previously appeared in print. With an eye toward applications to cluster algebras, our paper is written to handle skew-symmetrizable as well as skew-symmetric exchange matrices, and we therefore discuss the basics of the theory of species for preprojective algebras. We also give some counterexamples to show ways in which infinite type is more subtle than the well-studied finite type cases.

Cluster scattering diagrams of acyclic affine type
We give an explicit construction of the cluster scattering diagram for any acyclic exchange matrix of affine type. We show that the corresponding cluster scattering fan coincides both with the mutation fan and with a fan constructed in the almost-positive roots model.

On exchange matrices from string diagrams
Inspired by Fock-Goncharov's amalgamation procedure \cite{Fock-Goncharov-2006}, Shen-Weng introduced string diagrams in \cite{Shen-Weng-2021}, which are very useful to describe many interesting skew-symmetrizable matrices closely related with Lie theory. In this paper, we prove that the skew-symmetrizable matrices from string diagrams are in the smallest class $\mathcal P^\prime$ of skew-symmetrizable matrices containing the $1\times 1$ zero matrix and closed under mutations and source-sink extensions. This result applies to the exchange matrices of cluster algebras from double Bruhat cells, unipotent cells, double Bott-Samelson cells and so on. Our main result can be used to explain why many skew-symmetrizable matrices from Lie theory have reddening sequences. It can be also used to prove some interesting results regarding non-degenerate potentials on many quivers from Lie theory.

Deformations of cluster mutations and invariant presymplectic forms
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider deformations of sequences of cluster mutations in finite type cluster algebras, which destroy the Laurent property but preserve the presymplectic structure defined by the exchange matrix. The simplest example is the Lyness 5-cycle, arising from the cluster algebra of type $A_2$: this deforms to the Lyness family of integrable symplectic maps in the plane. For types $A_3$ and $A_4$ we find suitable conditions such that the deformation produces a two-parameter family of Liouville integrable maps (in dimensions two and four, respectively). We also perform Laurentification for these maps, by lifting them to a higher-dimensional space of tau functions with a cluster algebra structure, where the Laurent property is restored. More general types of deformed mutations associated with affine Dynkin quivers are shown to correspond to four-dimensional symplectic maps arising as reductions of the discrete sine-Gordon equation.

Newton polytopes of rank 3 cluster variables
Published • View PublicationBIB
We characterize the cluster variables of skew-symmetrizable cluster algebras of rank 3 by their Newton polytopes. The Newton polytope of the cluster variable $z$ is the convex hull of the set of all $\mathbf{p}\in\mathbb{Z}^3$ such that the Laurent monomial ${\bf x}^{\mathbf{p}}$ appears with nonzero coefficient in the Laurent expansion of $z$ in the cluster ${\bf x}$. We give an explicit construction of the Newton polytope in terms of the exchange matrix and the denominator vector of the cluster variable. Along the way, we give a new proof of the fact that denominator vectors of non-initial cluster variables are non-negative in a cluster algebra of arbitrary rank.

Dominance phenomena: mutation, scattering and cluster algebras
Published • View PublicationBIB
An exchange matrix $B$ dominates an exchange matrix $B'$ if the signs of corresponding entries weakly agree, with the entry of $B$ always having weakly greater absolute value. When $B$ dominates $B'$, interesting things happen in many cases (but not always): the identity map between the associated mutation-linear structures is often mutation-linear; the mutation fan for $B$ often refines the mutation fan for $B'$; the scattering (diagram) fan for $B$ often refines the scattering fan for $B'$; and there is often an injective homomorphism from the principal-coefficients cluster algebra for $B'$ to the principal-coefficients cluster algebra for $B$, preserving $\mathbf{g}$-vectors and sending the set of cluster variables for $B'$ (or an analogous larger set) into the set of cluster variables for $B$ (or an analogous larger set). The scope of the description "often" is not the same in all four contexts and is not settled in any of them. In this paper, we prove theorems that provide examples of these dominance phenomena.

Scattering fans
Published • View PublicationBIB
Scattering diagrams arose in the context of mirror symmetry, Donaldson-Thomas theory, and integrable systems. We show that a consistent scattering diagram with minimal support cuts the ambient space into a complete fan. A special class of scattering diagrams, the cluster scattering diagrams, are closely related to cluster algebras. We show that the cluster scattering fan associated to an exchange matrix $B$ refines the mutation fan for $B$ (a complete fan that encodes the geometry of mutations of $B$). We conjecture that, when $B$ is $n\times n$ for $n>2$, these two fans coincide if and only if $B$ is of finite mutation type.

Geometry of mutation classes of rank $3$ quivers
Published in Arnold Math. J. 5 (2019), 37-55 • View PublicationBIB
We present a geometric realization for all mutation classes of quivers of rank $3$ with real weights. This realization is via linear reflection groups for acyclic mutation classes and via groups generated by $π$-rotations for the cyclic ones. The geometric behavior of the model turns out to be controlled by the Markov constant $p^2+q^2+r^2-pqr$, where $p,q,r$ are the elements of exchange matrix. We also classify skew-symmetric mutation-finite real $3\times 3$ matrices and explore the structure of acyclic representatives in finite and infinite mutation classes.

A Cambrian framework for the oriented cycle
Published • View PublicationBIB
This paper completes the project of constructing combinatorial models (called frameworks) for the exchange graph and g-vector fan associated to any exchange matrix B whose Cartan companion is of finite or affine type, using the combinatorics and geometry of Coxeter-sortable elements and Cambrian lattices/fans. Specifically, we construct a framework in the unique non-acyclic affine case, the cyclically oriented n-cycle. In the acyclic affine case, a framework was constructed by combining a copy of the Cambrian fan for B with an antipodal copy of the Cambrian fan for -B. In this paper, we extend this "doubled Cambrian fan" construction to the oriented n-cycle, using a more general notion of sortable elements for quivers with cycles.

Cambrian frameworks for cluster algebras of affine type
Published • View PublicationBIB
We give a combinatorial model for the exchange graph and g-vector fan associated to any acyclic exchange matrix B of affine type. More specifically, we construct a reflection framework for B in the sense of [N. Reading and D. E. Speyer, "Combinatorial frameworks for cluster algebras"] and establish good properties of this framework. The framework (and in particular the g-vector fan) is constructed by combining a copy of the Cambrian fan for B with an antipodal copy of the Cambrian fan for -B.

Diagrammatic description of c-vectors and d-vectors of cluster algebras of finite type
Published in The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, Volume 21, Issue 1 (2014), P1.3 • View PublicationBIB
We provide an explicit Dynkin diagrammatic description of the c-vectors and the d-vectors (the denominator vectors) of any cluster algebra of finite type with principal coefficients and any initial exchange matrix. We use the surface realization of cluster algebras for types A_n and D_n, then we apply the folding method to D_{n+1} and A_{2n-1} to obtain types B_n and C_n. Exceptional types are done by direct inspection with the help of a computer algebra software. We also propose a conjecture on the root property of c-vectors for a general cluster algebra.
