Steinerberger Curvature On Digraphs -- Discrete Bonnet-Myers and Lichnerowicz Theorems
Steinerberger curvature encodes the global distance geometry of a graph through an equilibrium measure. In this paper, we derive explicit curvature formulas for undirected Cayley graphs of dihedral groups $D_n$ and generalized quaternion groups $Q_{4m}$. We then extend Steinerberger curvature to strongly connected simple digraphs by introducing in-curvature and out-curvature, reflecting the asymmetry of directed distances. For these directed curvatures, we establish structural properties, including negativity criteria and a permutation relation between in- and out-curvature. Our main results are directed analogues of the Bonnet--Myers, Cheng and Lichnerowicz theorems, together with reverse Bonnet--Myers inequalities for directed diameter and out-radius, and an upper bound for in-radius in terms of total curvature.

Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci Curvature of Digraphs via Optimal Transport Couplings
In this paper, we study the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature of strongly connected locally finite digraphs through an explicit optimal-coupling construction. For an arc of a digraph, we derive a computable curvature formula by constructing a coupling between the probability measures at its tail and head, and by proving its optimality using a suitable $1$-Lipschitz function. The formula is not only effective for direct computation, but also unifies several known results: in particular, it recovers the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature formula for Cayley graphs of Right-Angled Artin--Coxeter Hybrid groups as a special case and gives shorter proofs of curvature results arising from matching-type conditions. We then characterize arcs with zero Ricci curvature through perfect distance matching and perfect distance partitions. We further prove that, under suitable assumptions, such arc curvature in directed Cayley graphs increases when an inverse generator or a new generator is added to the generating set. As applications, we compute the curvature of directed Cayley graphs of dihedral groups and generalized quaternion groups, including $Γ(D_n,\{a,b\})$, $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,b\})$, $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,a^{-1},b\})$ and $Γ(Q_{4m},\{a,b,b^{-1}\})$. Finally, we provide an algorithm for computing the Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci curvature of Cayley graphs of finitely generated groups with prescribed generating sets, together with complete curvature tables for several important families of finite groups.
Generalized quaternion NCI-groups, NNN-groups and NNND-groups
A Cayley (di)graph $\Cay(G,S)$ of a finite group $G$ is called CI if, for every Cayley (di)graph $\Cay(G,T)$ of $G$, $\Cay(G,S)\cong \Cay(G,T)$ implies that $S^σ=T$ for some $σ\in \Aut(G)$. The group $G$ is called an NDCI-group (resp. NCI-group) if every normal Cayley digraph (resp. graph) of $G$ is CI. It was shown that the generalized quaternion group $\Q_{4n}$ of order $4n$ ($n\geq 2$) is an NDCI-group if and only if either $n=2$ or $n$ is odd, but its NCI-group classification has been left as an open question. In this paper, we solve the question and prove that $\Q_{4n}$ is an NCI-group for every $n\geq 2$. A normal Cayley (di)graph of a group $G$ is called NNN if its automorphism group contains a non-normal regular subgroup isomorphic to $G$, and $G$ is called an NNND-group (resp. NNN-group) if it admits an NNN Cayley digraph (resp. graph). In this paper, we show that $\Q_{4n}$ is not an NNN-group for every $n\geq 2$, and is an NNND-group if and only if $n\geq 6$ and $n$ is even.

Metric Dimension of Difference Graph of Finite Groups
The Difference graph $\mathcal{D}(G)$ of a finite group $G$ is the difference of the enhanced power graph $\mathcal{P}_{E}(G)$ and the power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ with all the isolated vertices removed. In this paper, we characterize the vertex set of the difference graph of finite nilpotent groups and obtain its cardinality. Consequently, we obtain the metric dimension of the difference graph of finite nilpotent groups. Moreover, this paper determines the metric dimension of the difference graphs of certain non-nilpotent groups, namely: dihedral groups, the generalized quaternion groups, and the semi-dihedral groups.
On the deep commuting graph of a finite group
Let $G$ be a finite group and let $\tilde{G}$ be a Schur cover of $G$. The deep commuting graph $Δ_D(G)$ of $G$ is a simple graph with vertex set $G$, where two distinct vertices are adjacent if their pre-images commute in $\tilde{G}$. The deep commuting graph of a finite group was first introduced in [P. J. Cameron and B. Kuzma, Between the enhanced power graph and the commuting graph, {\it J. Graph Theory} {\bf 102} (2023), no. 2, 295--303], where the authors have shown that $Δ_D(G)$ is fixed irrespective of the choice of the Schur cover $\tilde{G}$. In this paper, we first prove that $Δ_D(G)$ is complete if and only if $G$ is cyclic. Also, we classify finite simple groups, symmetric groups and alternating groups, for which $Δ_D(G)$ is perfect. In addition, explore several other properties of $Δ_D(G)$ like Eulerianess, universality and connectedness of reduced deep commuting graphs. Next, we classify the finite abelian groups for which deep commuting graphs coincide with enhance power graphs. We also characterize the dominant vertices for the deep commuting graphs of finite abelian groups and examine the connectedness of the associated reduced deep commuting graphs. These properties of the deep commuting graphs for the non abelian groups like symmetric groups, alternating groups, dihedral groups, generalized quaternion group and Heisenberg groups are also discussed.
Characterizing Transfer Systems for Non-Abelian Groups
For a finite group $G$, the notion of a $G$-transfer system provides homotopy theorists with a combinatorial way to study equivariant objects. In this paper, we focus on the properties of transfer systems for non-abelian groups. We explicitly describe the width of all dihedral groups, quaternion groups, and dicyclic groups. For a given $G$, the set of all $G$-transfer systems forms a poset lattice under inclusion; these are a useful resource to homotopical combinatorialists for detecting patterns and checking conjectures. We expand the suite of known transfer system lattices for non-abelian groups including those which are dihedral, dicyclic, Frobenius, and alternating.

A classification of two-distance-transitive Cayley graphs over the generalized quaternion groups
A non-complete graph is \emph{$2$-distance-transitive} if, for $i=1,2$ and for any two vertex pairs $(u_1,v_1)$ and $(u_2,v_2)$ with the same distance $i$ in the graph, there exists an element of the graph automorphism group that maps $(u_1,v_1)$ to $(u_2,v_2)$. This is a generalization concept of the classical well-known distance-transitive graphs. In this paper, we completely determine the family of $2$-distance-transitive Cayley graphs over the generalized quaternion groups.

Sombor Spectrum of Super Graphs defined on groups
Given a simple graph $A$ on a group $G$ and an equivalence relation $B$ on $G$, the $B$ super $A$ graph is defined as a simple graph, whose vertex set is $G$ and two vertices $g$, $h$ are adjacent if either they are in the same equivalence class or there exist $g^{\prime} \in[g]$ and $h^{\prime} \in[h]$ such that $g^{\prime}$ and $h^{\prime}$ are adjacent in $A$. In the literature, the $B$ super $A$ graphs have been investigated by considering $A$ to be either power graph, enhanced power graph, or commuting graph and $B$ to be an equality, order or conjugacy relation. In this paper, we investigate the Sombor spectrums of these $B$ super $A$ graphs for certain non-abelian groups, viz. the dihedral group, generalized quaternion group and the semidihedral group, respectively.

Which coprime graphs are divisor graphs?
For a finite group $G$, the coprime graph $Γ(G)$ of $G$ is a graph with vertex set $G$, in which two distinct vertices $a$ and $b$ are adjacent if the order of $a$ and the order of $b$ are coprime. In this paper, we first give a characterization for which generalized lexicographic products are divisor graphs. As applications, we show that every of power graph, reduced power graph and order graph is a divisor graph, which also implies the main result in [N. Takshak, A. Sehgal, A. Malik, Power graph of a finite group is always divisor graph, Asian-Eur. J. Math. 16 (2023), ID: 2250236]. Then, we prove that the coprime graph of a group is a generalized lexicographic product, and give two characterizations for which coprime graphs are divisor graphs. We also describe the groups $G$ with $|π(G)|\le 4$, whose coprime graph is a divisor graph. Finally, we classify the finite groups $G$ so that $Γ(G)$ is a divisor graph if $G$ is a nilpotent group, a dihedral group, a generalized quaternion group, a symmetric group, an alternating group, a direct product of two non-trivial groups, and a sporadic simple group.

Block components of generalized quaternion group codes
Codes in the generalized quaternion group algebra $\mathbb{F}_q[Q_{4n}]$ are considered. Restricting to char$\mathbb{F}_q \nmid 4n$ the structure of an arbitrary code $C \subseteq \mathbb{F}_q[Q_{4n}]$ is described via the Wedderburn decomposition. Moreover it is known that in this case every code $C \subseteq \mathbb{F}_q[Q_{4n}]$ has a generating idempotent $λ\in \mathbb{F}_q[Q_{4n}]$. Given the generating idempotent of a code $C$ we determine the different components in its decomposition $C \cong \bigoplus_{j=1}^{r+s}C_j \oplus \bigoplus_{i=1}^{k+t}C'_{i}.$ Afterwards we apply this result to describe the blocks of codes induced by cyclic group codes.

Laplacian Spectrum of Super Graphs defined on Certain Non-abelian Groups
Given a graph $A$ on a group $G$ and an equivalence relation $B$ on $G$, the $B$ super$A$ graph, whose vertex set is $G$ and two vertices $g$, $h$ are adjacent if and only if there exist $g^{\prime} \in[g]$ and $h^{\prime} \in[h]$ such that $g^{\prime}$ and $h^{\prime}$ are adjacent in $A$. Recently, Dalal \emph{et al.} (Spectrum of super commuting graphs of some finite groups, \textit{Computational and Applied Mathematics}, 43(6):348, 2024) obtain the Laplacian spectrum of supercommuting graphs of certain non-abelian groups including the dihedral group and the generalized quaternion group. In this paper, we continue the study of Laplacian spectrum of certian $B$ super$A$ graphs. We obtain the Laplacian spectrum of conjugacy superenhanced power graphs of certain non-abelian groups, namely: dihedral group, generalized quaternion group and semidihedral group. Moreover to enhance the work of Dalal \emph{et al}, we obtain the Laplacian spectrum of conjugacy supercommuting graph of semidihedral group. We prove that graphs considered in this paper are $L$-integral.

Isomorphisms of bi-Cayley graphs on generalized quaternion groups
Let $G$ be a finite group and $S$ be a subset of $G$. The bi-Cayley graph $\mathrm{BCay}(G,S)$ is the graph with vertex set $G\times \{0,1\}$ and edge set $\{\{(x,0),(sx,1)\}\mid x\in G,s\in S\}$. A bi-Cayley graph $\mathrm{BCay}(G,S)$ is called a BCI-graph if for every $T\subseteq G$, the isomorphism $\mathrm{BCay}(G,S)\cong \mathrm{BCay}(G,T)$ implies that $T=gS^α$ for some $g\in G$ and $α\in \mathrm{Aut}(G)$. We say a group $G$ an $m$-BCI-group if every bi-Cayley graphs of $G$ with valency at most $m$ is a BCI-graph. In this paper, we show that for $m\in\{2,3\}$, the generalized quaternion group of order $4n$ with $n\geq 2$ is an $m$-BCI-group if and only if it is an $m$-DCI-group if and only if it is an $m$-CI-group if and only if $n$ is odd or $n=2$.
Co-Engel graphs of certain finite non-Engel groups
Let $G$ be a group. The co-Engel graph of $G$) with $G$ whose vertex set is $G$ and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if $[x,{}_k y]\neq1$ and $[y,{}_k x] \neq 1$ for all positive integer $k$, where $[x,{}_ky]$ is the iterated commutator $[x,y,y,\ldots,y]$, with $k$ terms $y$ in the expression; usually we delete isolated vertices (these are the left Engel elements). This graph, under the name ``Engel graph'', was introduced by Abdollahi~\cite{aa}. However, we argue that it is more naturally called the ``co-Engel graph''. We compute genus, various spectra, energies and Zagreb indices of co-Engel graphs for groups including the dihedral and generalized quaternion groups and nonabelian groups of order $pq$ where $p$ and $q$ are primes. As a consequence, we determine (up to isomorphism) all finite non-Engel group $G$ such that the clique number of the co-Engel is at most $4$ and the graph is toroidal or projective. Further, we show that the co-Engel graph is super integral and satisfies the E-LE conjecture and the Hansen--Vuki{č}evi{ć} conjecture for the groups considered in this paper. We also look briefly at the directed Engel graph, with an arc $x\to y$ if $[y,{}_kx]=1$ for some $k$. We show that, if $G$ is a finite soluble group, this graph either is the complete directed graph (which occurs only if $G$ is nilpotent), or has pairs of vertices joined only by single arcs. We also show that the (directed or undirected) Engel graph of a group $G$ is the lexicographic product of a complete graph of order $Z_\infty(G)$ by the (directed or undirected) Engel graph of $G/Z_\infty(G)$, where $Z_\infty(G)$ is the hypercenter of $G$.

Non-Isomorphic Groups with Isomorphic Power and Commuting Graphs
The power graph of a group $G$ is a graph with vertex set $G$, in which two vertices are adjacent if one is some power of the other. In the commuting graph, with $G$ as the vertex set, two vertices are joined by an edge if they commute in $G$. The enhanced power graph of a group $G$ is a graph with vertex set $G$ and an edge joining two vertices $x$ and $y$ if $\langle x,y\rangle$ is cyclic. In this paper, we answer a question posed by P. J. Cameron, namely, if there exist groups $G$ and $H$ such that the power graph of $G$ is isomorphic to the commuting graph of $H$. We show that the answer is yes if $G$ is the generalised quaternion group and $H$ is the dihedral group. We also show that the enhanced power graph of the dicyclic group is isomorphic to the commuting graph of the dihedral group.

Colour-permuting automorphisms of complete Cayley graphs
Let $G$ be a (finite or infinite) group, and let $K_G = \mathrm{Cay} ( G;G \smallsetminus \{1\} )$ be the complete graph with vertex set $G$, considered as a Cayley graph of $G$. Being a Cayley graph, it has a natural edge-colouring by sets of the form $\{s, s^{-1}\}$ for $s \in G$. We prove that every colour-permuting automorphism of $K_G$ is an affine map, unless $G \cong Q_8 \times B$, where $Q_8$ is the quaternion group of order $8$, and $B$ is an abelian group, such that $b^2$ is trivial for all $b \in B$. We also prove (without any restriction on $G$) that every colour-permuting automorphism of $K_G$ is the composition of a group automorphism and a colour-preserving graph automorphism. This was conjectured by D.P.Byrne, M.J.Donner, and T.Q.Sibley in 2013.

The conjugacy diameters of non-abelian finite $p$-groups with cyclic maximal subgroups
Let $G$ be a group. A subset $S$ of $G$ is said to normally generate $G$ if $G$ is the normal closure of $S$ in $G.$ In this case, any element of $G$ can be written as a product of conjugates of elements of $S$ and their inverses. If $g\in G$ and $S$ is a normally generating subset of $G,$ then we write $\| g\|_{S}$ for the length of a shortest word in $\mbox{Conj}_{G}(S^{\pm 1}):=\{h^{-1}sh | h\in G, s\in S \, \mbox{or} \, s{^{-1}}\in S \}$ needed to express $g.$ For any normally generating subset $S$ of $G,$ we write $\|G\|_{S} =\mbox{sup}\{\|g\|_{S} \,|\,\, g\in G\}.$ Moreover, we write $Δ(G)$ for the supremum of all $\|G\|_{S},$ where $S$ is a finite normally generating subset of $G,$ and we call $Δ(G)$ the conjugacy diameter of $G.$ In this paper, we determine the conjugacy diameters of the semidihedral $2$-groups, the generalized quaternion groups and the modular $p$-groups. This is a natural step after the determination of the conjugacy diameters of dihedral groups, which were recently found by the first author (finite case) and by Kedra, Libman and Martin (infinite case).

On regular sets in Cayley graphs
Published in Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics 59 (2024) 735--759 • View PublicationBIB
Let $\Ga = (V, E)$ be a graph and $a, b$ nonnegative integers. An $(a, b)$-regular set in $\Ga$ is a nonempty proper subset $D$ of $V$ such that every vertex in $D$ has exactly $a$ neighbours in $D$ and every vertex in $V \setminus D$ has exactly $b$ neighbours in $D$. A $(0,1)$-regular set is called a perfect code, an efficient dominating set, or an independent perfect dominating set. A subset $D$ of a group $G$ is called an $(a,b)$-regular set of $G$ if it is an $(a, b)$-regular set in some Cayley graph of $G$, and an $(a, b)$-regular set in a Cayley graph of $G$ is called a subgroup $(a, b)$-regular set if it is also a subgroup of $G$. In this paper we study $(a, b)$-regular sets in Cayley graphs with a focus on $(0, k)$-regular sets, where $k \ge 1$ is an integer. Among other things we determine when a non-trivial proper normal subgroup of a group is a $(0, k)$-regular set of the group. We also determine all subgroup $(0, k)$-regular sets of dihedral groups and generalized quaternion groups. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a hypercube or the Cartesian product of $n$ copies of the cycle of length $p$ to admit $(0, k)$-regular sets, where $p$ is an odd prime. Our results generalize several known results from perfect codes to $(0, k)$-regular sets.

Universal adjacency spectrum of (proper) power graphs and their complements on some groups
The power graph $\mathscr{P}(G)$ of a group $G$ is an undirected graph with all the elements of $G$ as vertices and where any two vertices $u$ and $v$ are adjacent if and only if $u=v^m $ or $v=u^m$, $ m \in$ $\mathbb{Z}$. For a simple graph $H$ with adjacency matrix $A(H)$ and degree diagonal matrix $D(H)$, the universal adjacency matrix is $U(H)= αA(H)+βD(H)+ γI +ηJ$, where $α(\neq 0), β, γ, η\in \mathbb{R}$, $I$ is the identity matrix and $J$ is the all-ones matrix of suitable order. One can study many graph-associated matrices, such as adjacency, Laplacian, signless Laplacian, Seidel etc. in a unified manner through the universal adjacency matrix of a graph. Here we study universal adjacency eigenvalues and eigenvectors of power graphs, proper power graphs and their complements on the group $\mathbb{Z}_n$, dihedral group ${D}_n$, and the generalized quaternion group ${Q}_n$. Spectral results of no kind for the complement of power graph on any group were obtained before. We determine the full spectrum in some particular cases. Moreover, several existing results can be obtained as very specific cases of some results of the paper.

Generalized quaternion groups with the m-DCI property
A Cayley digraph Cay(G,S) of a finite group $G$ with respect to a subset $S$ of $G$ is said to be a CI-digraph if for every Cayley digraph Cay(G,T) isomorphic to Cay(G,S), there exists an automorphism $σ$ of $G$ such that $S^σ=T$. A finite group $G$ is said to have the $m$-DCI property for some positive integer $m$ if all $m$-valent Cayley digraphs of $G$ are CI-digraphs, and is said to be a DCI-group if $G$ has the $m$-DCI property for all $1\leq m\leq |G|$. Let $\mathrm{Q}_{4n}$ be a generalized quaternion group of order $4n$ with an integer $n\geq 3$, and let $\mathrm{Q}_{4n}$ have the $m$-DCI property for some $1 \leq m\leq 2n-1$. It is shown in this paper that $n$ is odd, and $n$ is not divisible by $p^2$ for any prime $p\leq m-1$. Furthermore, if $n\geq 3$ is a power of a prime $p$, then $\mathrm{Q}_{4n}$ has the $m$-DCI property if and only if $p$ is odd, and either $n=p$ or $1\leq m\leq p$.

A topological version of Hedetniemi's conjecture for equivariant spaces
Published in Combinatorica 44, 441-452 (2024) • View PublicationBIB
A topological version of the famous Hedetniemi conjecture says: The mapping index of the Cartesian product of two $\mathbb Z/2$-spaces is equal to the minimum of their $\mathbb Z/2$-indexes. The main purpose of this article is to study the topological version of the Hedetniemi conjecture for $G$-spaces. Indeed, we show that the topological Hedetniemi conjecture cannot be valid for general pairs of $G$-spaces. More precisely, we show that this conjecture can possibly survive if the group $G$ is either a cyclic $p$-group or a generalized quaternion group whose size is a power of 2.
