Spectral gap of the normalized distance Laplacian
The smallest positive eigenvalue $\partial_2$ of the normalized distance Laplacian matrix $\mathcal{D}^{\mathcal{L}}$ of a connected graph is called its \emph{spectral gap} and is intimately related to the Cheeger constant of $\mathcal{D}^{\mathcal{L}}$. Byrne, Johnston, Schildkraut and Tait (2025) conjectured that
\[ \partial_2 \ge \frac{2}{3}\] for all connected graphs. We prove the following stronger result: for any connected graph $G$ of order at least 2, \[\partial_2 \ge \frac{2}{3} + \frac{4}{3\,t_{\max}},\] where $t_{\max}$ denotes the maximum transmission in $G$. Moreover, equality holds if and only if $G\cong K_{m,m}$ for some $m\ge 1$.
On the distances between the core center and other central parts of a tree
Let $T$ be a tree. For a vertex $v\in V(T)$, the eccentric subtree number $ε_T(v)$ is defined as $ε_T(v)=\min\{f_T(v,u): u\in V(T)\}$ where $f_T(v,u)$ denotes the number of subtrees of $T$ containing both $v$ and $u$. A core vertex of $T$ is a vertex with the maximum eccentric subtree number, and the set of all the core vertices of $T$ is called the core center of $T$. The core center of $T$ consists of either a single vertex or two adjacent vertices. There are other central concepts in a tree, such as the center, centroid, subtree core, and characteristic center, and these may all be different.
By $d_T(C, \mathfrak{C})$, $d_T(C_d, \mathfrak{C})$ and $d_T(S_c, \mathfrak{C})$ we mean the distance between center and core center, distance between centroid and core center and distance between subtree core and core center in $T$, respectively. We show that for any tree $T$ on $n\geq 6$ vertices,
(i)]$d_T(C,\mathfrak{C})\leq \lfloor \frac{n-g_0-4}{2} \rfloor$;
(ii)]$d_T(C_d,\mathfrak{C})\leq \lfloor \frac{n-5}{2} \rfloor$;
(iii)] $d_T(S_c,\mathfrak{C})\leq\left\{ \begin{array}{ll}
1, &\text{if $n=7$,}
n-g_0-3, &\text{if $n\neq 7$;}\\ \end{array} \right.$
where $g_0\geq 2$ be the smallest positive integer such that $2^{g_0-1}+g_0\geq n-3$. Moreover, we show that these bounds are best possible by obtaining a tree which attains these bounds. We also obtain a tree which maximizes the distance between characteristic center and core center over all trees on $n\geq 6$ vertices. The asymptotic behaviour of all these distances are also studied.
On the deep commuting graph of a finite group
Let $G$ be a finite group and let $\tilde{G}$ be a Schur cover of $G$. The deep commuting graph $Δ_D(G)$ of $G$ is a simple graph with vertex set $G$, where two distinct vertices are adjacent if their pre-images commute in $\tilde{G}$. The deep commuting graph of a finite group was first introduced in [P. J. Cameron and B. Kuzma, Between the enhanced power graph and the commuting graph, {\it J. Graph Theory} {\bf 102} (2023), no. 2, 295--303], where the authors have shown that $Δ_D(G)$ is fixed irrespective of the choice of the Schur cover $\tilde{G}$. In this paper, we first prove that $Δ_D(G)$ is complete if and only if $G$ is cyclic. Also, we classify finite simple groups, symmetric groups and alternating groups, for which $Δ_D(G)$ is perfect. In addition, explore several other properties of $Δ_D(G)$ like Eulerianess, universality and connectedness of reduced deep commuting graphs.
Next, we classify the finite abelian groups for which deep commuting graphs coincide with enhance power graphs. We also characterize the dominant vertices for the deep commuting graphs of finite abelian groups and examine the connectedness of the associated reduced deep commuting graphs. These properties of the deep commuting graphs for the non abelian groups like symmetric groups, alternating groups, dihedral groups, generalized quaternion group and Heisenberg groups are also discussed.
On the minimum cut-sets of the power graph of a finite cyclic group, II
The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a finite group $G$ is the simple graph with vertex set $G$ and two distinct vertices are adjacent if one of them is a power of the other. Let $n=p_1^{n_1}p_2^{n_2}\cdots p_r^{n_r},$ where $p_1,p_2,\ldots,p_r$ are primes with $p_1<p_2<\cdots <p_r$ and $n_1,n_2,\ldots, n_r$ are positive integers. For the cyclic group $C_n$ of order $n$, the minimum cut-sets of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ are characterized in \cite{cps} for $r\leq 3$. Recently, in \cite{MPS}, certain cut-sets of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ are identified such that any minimum cut-set of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ must be one of them. In this paper, for $r\geq 4$, we explicitly determine the minimum cut-sets, in particular, the vertex connectivity of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ when: (i) $n_r\geq 2$, (ii) $r=4$ and $n_r=1$, and (iii) $r=5$, $n_r=1$, $p_1\geq 3$.

Some new central parts of connected graphs
The center, median and the security center are three central parts defined for any connected graph whereas the characteristic set, subtree core and core vertices are three central parts defined for trees only. We extend the concept of the characteristic set, subtree core and core vertices to general connected graphs and call them the characteristic center, subgraph core and core vertices, respectively.
We show by examples that in a connected graph all the above six central parts can be different and also prove that for a connected vertex transitive graph each of the six central parts is the whole vertex set. Further it is shown that given any graph $G$, there exists a connected supergraph $G_{ch}$ of $G$ with the whole vertex set of $G$ as the characteristic center. Associated with the subgraph core and core vertices, we leave some unanswered question related to the graph centrality.

The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a group $G$ is the simple graph with vertex set $G$ and two vertices are adjacent whenever one of them is a positive power of the other. In this paper, for a finite noncyclic nilpotent group $G$, we study the minimum degree $δ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ of $\mathcal{P}(G)$. Under some conditions involving the prime divisors of $|G|$ and the Sylow subgroups of $G$, we identify certain vertices associated with the generators of maximal cyclic subgroups of $G$ such that $δ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ is equal to the degree of one of these vertices. As an application, we obtain $δ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ for some classes of finite noncyclic abelian groups $G$.

The total eccentricity index of a connected graph is defined as sum of the eccentricities of all its vertices. We denote the set of all connected graphs on $n$ vertices with $k$ pendant vertices by $\mathfrak{H}_{n,k}$ and denote the set of all connected graphs on $n$ vertices with $s$ cut vertices by $\mathfrak{C_{n,s}}$. In this paper, we give the sharp lower and upper bounds on the total eccentricity index over $\mathfrak{H}_{n,k}$ and the sharp lower bound for the same over $\mathfrak{C_{n,s}}$. We also provide the sharp upper bounds on the total eccentricity index over $\mathfrak{C_{n,s}}$ when $s=0,1,n-3,n-2$ and propose a problem regarding the upper bound over $\mathfrak{C_{n,s}}$ for $2\leq s\leq n-4.$

Let $Ω_n$ be the family of binary trees on $n$ vertices obtained by identifying the root of an rgood binary tree with a vertex of maximum eccentricity of a binary caterpillar. In the paper titled "On different middle parts of a tree (The electronic journal of combinatorics, 25 (2018), no. 3, paper 3.17, 32 pp)", Smith et al. conjectured that among all binary trees on $n$ vertices the pairwise distance between any two of center, centroid and subtree core is maximized by some member of the family $Ω_n$. We first obtain the rooted binary tree which minimizes the number of root containing subtrees and then prove this conjecture. We also obtain the binary trees which maximize these distances.
Proper divisor graph of a positive integer
The proper divisor graph $Υ_n$ of a positive integer $n$ is the simple graph whose vertices are the proper divisors of $n$, and in which two distinct vertices $u, v$ are adjacent if and only if $n$ divides $uv$. The graph $Υ_n$ plays an important role in the study of the zero divisor graph of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_n$. In this paper, we study some graph theoretic properties of $Υ_n$ and determine the graph parameters such as clique number, chromatic number, chromatic index, independence number, matching number, domination number, vertex and edge covering numbers of $Υ_n$. We also determine the automorphism group of $Υ_n$.

The Wiener index of a connected graph is defined as the sum of the distances between all unordered pair of its vertices. In this paper, we characterize the graphs which extremize the Wiener index among all graphs on $n$ vertices with $k$ pendant vertices. We also characterize the graph which minimizes the Wiener index over the graphs on $n$ vertices with $s$ cut vertices.
On the minimum degree of the power graph of a finite cyclic group
The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a finite group $G$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertex set is $G$, in which two distinct vertices are adjacent if one of them is an integral power of the other. For an integer $n\geq 2$, let $C_n$ denote the cyclic group of order $n$ and let $r$ be the number of distinct prime divisors of $n$. The minimum degree $δ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ is known for $r\in\{1,2\}$, see [18]. For $r\geq 3$, under certain conditions involving the prime divisors of $n$, we identify at most $r-1$ vertices such that $δ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ is equal to the degree of at least one of these vertices. If $r=3$ or if $n$ is a product of distinct primes, we are able to identify two such vertices without any condition on the prime divisors of $n$.
Laplacian eigenvalues of the zero divisor graph of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$
We study the Laplacian eigenvalues of the zero divisor graph $Γ\left(\mathbb{Z}_{n}\right)$ of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ and prove that $Γ\left(\mathbb{Z}_{p^t}\right)$ is Laplacian integral for every prime $p$ and positive integer $t\geq 2$. We also prove that the Laplacian spectral radius and the algebraic connectivity of $Γ\left(\mathbb{Z}_{n}\right)$ for most of the values of $n$ are, respectively, the largest and the second smallest eigenvalues of the vertex weighted Laplacian matrix of a graph which is defined on the set of proper divisors of $n$. The values of $n$ for which algebraic connectivity and vertex connectivity of $Γ\left(\mathbb{Z}_{n}\right)$ coincide are also characterized.
The core index of a graph
For a graph $G,$ we denote the number of connected subgraphs of $G$ by $F(G)$. For a tree $T$, $F(T)$ has been studied extensively and it has been observed that $F(T)$ has a reverse correlation with Wiener index of $T$. Based on that, we call $F(G),$ the core index of $G$.
In this paper, we characterize the graphs which extremize the core index among all graphs on $n$ vertices with $k\geq 0$ connected components. We extend our study of core index to unicyclic graphs and connected graphs with fixed number of pendant vertices. We obtained the unicyclic graphs which extremize the core index over all unicyclic graphs on $n$ vertices. The graphs which extremize the core index among all unicyclic graphs with fixed girth are also obtained. Among all connected graphs on $n$ vertices with fixed number of pendant vertices, the graph which minimizes and the graph which maximizes the core index are characterized.

The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a given finite group $G$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertices are the elements of $G$, in which two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if one of them can be obtained as an integral power of the other. The vertex connectivity $κ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ of $\mathcal{P}(G)$ is the minimum number of vertices which need to be removed from $G$ so that the induced subgraph of $\mathcal{P}(G)$ on the remaining vertices is disconnected or has only one vertex. For a positive integer $n$, let $C_n$ be the cyclic group of order $n$. Suppose that the prime power decomposition of $n$ is given by $n =p_1^{n_1}p_2^{n_2}\cdots p_r^{n_r}$, where $r\geq 1$, $n_1,n_2,\ldots, n_r$ are positive integers and $p_1,p_2,\ldots,p_r$ are prime numbers with $p_1<p_2<\cdots <p_r$. The vertex connectivity $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ is known for $r\leq 3$, see \cite{panda, cps}. In this paper, for $r\geq 4$, we give a new upper bound for $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ and determine $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $n_r\geq 2$. We also determine $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $n$ is a product of distinct prime numbers.

The power graph of a group is the simple graph with vertices as the group elements, in which two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if one of them can be obtained as an integral power of the other. We study (minimal) cut-sets of the power graph of a (finite) non-cyclic (nilpotent) group which are associated with its maximal cyclic subgroups. Let $G$ be a finite non-cyclic nilpotent group whose order is divisible by at least two distinct primes. If $G$ has a Sylow subgroup which is neither cyclic nor a generalized quaternion $2$-group and all other Sylow subgroups of $G$ are cyclic, then under some conditions we prove that there is only one minimum cut-set of the power graph of $G$. We apply this result to find the vertex connectivity of the power graphs of certain finite non-cyclic abelian groups whose order is divisible by at most three distinct primes.

Let $n=p_1^{n_1}p_2^{n_2}\ldots p_r^{n_r}$, where $r,n_1,\ldots, n_r$ are positive integers and $p_1,p_2,\ldots,p_r$ are distinct prime numbers with $p_1<p_2<\cdots <p_r$. For the cyclic group $C_n$ of order $n$, let $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ be the power graph of $C_n$ and $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ be the vertex connectivity of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$. It is known that $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))=p_1^{n_1} -1$ if $r=1$. For $r\geq 2$, we determine the exact value of $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $2φ(p_1\ldots p_{r-1})\geq p_1\ldots p_{r-1}$, and give an upper bound for $κ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ when $2φ(p_1\ldots p_{r-1}) < p_1\ldots p_{r-1}$, which is sharp for many values of $n$ but equality need not hold always.

For $n\geq 5$ and $2\leq g\leq n-3,$ consider the tree $P_{n-g,g}$ on $n$ vertices which is obtained by adding $g$ pendant vertices to one degree $1$ vertex of the path $P_{n-g}$. We call the trees $P_{n-g,g}$ as path-star trees. We prove that over all trees on $n\geq 5$ vertices, the distance between center and subtree core and the distance between centroid and subtree core are maximized by some path-star trees. We also prove that the tree $P_{n-g_0,g_0}$ maximizes both the distances among all path-star trees on $n$ vertices, where $g_0$ is the smallest positive integer such that $2^{g_0}+g_0>n-1.$
