The maximum number of two 4-vertex graphs in planar graphs
Let $f(n,H)$ be the maximum number of copies of a graph $H$ in a planar graph of order $n$. When $H$ is a connected graph on four vertices, $f(n,H)$ has been completely determined except for two cases: $K_{1,3}^+$ (the claw graph $K_{1,3}$ with one additional edge) and $K_4^-$ (the complete graph $K_4$ with one edge removed). Here, we address these two cases and establish that for all $n\ge4$, $$f(n,K_{1,3}^+) = 4n^2-12n-4 \textrm{ and } f(n,K_4^-) =\frac{1}{2}(n^2+9n-40).$$

On the maximum spectral radius of planar graphs
This paper investigates the maximum spectral radius of planar graphs with concrete fixed number of vertices, providing some tight bounds on the maximum spectral radius of general planar graph resorting to its order, and confirming that among all planar graphs containing dominating vertex with concrete fixed order $n \geq 48$, the join of $P_{2}$ and $P_{n-2}$ attains the maximum spectral radius.
Degree conditions for spanning expansion hypertrees
The $k$-expansion of a graph $G$ is the $k$-uniform hypergraph obtained from $G$ by adding $k-2$ new vertices to every edge. We determine, for all $k > d \geq 1$, asymptotically optimal $d$-degree conditions that ensure the existence of all spanning $k$-expansions of bounded-degree trees, in terms of the corresponding conditions for loose Hamilton cycles. This refutes a conjecture by Pehova and Petrova, who conjectured that a lower threshold should have sufficed. The reason why the answer is off from the conjectured value is an unexpected `parity obstruction': all spanning $k$-expansions of trees with only odd degree vertices require larger degree conditions to embed. We also show that if the tree has at least one even-degree vertex, the codegree conditions for embedding its $k$-expansion become substantially smaller.

Minimum degree conditions for Hamilton $l$-cycles in $ k $-uniform hypergraphs
Published in The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics. Volume 32, Issue 1, 2025. Article number P1.35 • View PublicationBIB
We show that for $ η>0 $ and sufficiently large $ n $, every 5-graph on $ n $ vertices with $δ_{2}(H)\ge (91/216+η)\binom{n}{3}$ contains a Hamilton 2-cycle. This minimum 2-degree condition is asymptotically best possible. Moreover, we give some related results on Hamilton $ \ell $-cycles with $ d $-degree for $\ell\le d \le k-1$ and $1\le \ell < k/2$.

Tiling $H$ in dense graphs
We determine asymptotically the two extremal constructions for the tiling problem of the $H$-shaped tree. In particular, the first extremal construction is close to the complement of two cliques, in contrast to previously studied bipartite graphs, where the first extremal construction is close to the complement of a single clique. This result refutes one of Lang's conjectures [arXiv:2308.12281], which seeks to generalize the Erdős Matching Conjecture.

On Bott--Samelson rings for Coxeter groups
We study the cohomology ring of the Bott--Samelson variety. We compute an explicit presentation of this ring via Soergel's result, which implies that it is a purely combinatorial invariant. We use the presentation to introduce the Bott--Samelson ring associated with a word in arbitrary Coxeter system by generators and relations. In general, it is a split quadratic complete intersection algebra with a triangular pattern of relations. By a result of Tate, it follows that it is a Koszul algebra and we provide a quadratic (reduced) Gr{ö}bner basis. Furthermore, we prove that it satisfies the whole Kähler package, including the Poincaré duality, the hard Lefschetz theorem, and the Hodge--Riemann bilinear relations.

The threshold for powers of tight Hamilton cycles in random hypergraphs
We investigate the occurrence of powers of tight Hamilton cycles in random hypergraphs. For every $r\ge 3$ and $k\ge 1$, we show that there exists a constant $C > 0$ such that if $p=p(n) \ge Cn^{-1/\binom{k+r-2}{r-1}}$ then asymptotically almost surely the random hypergraph $H^{(r)}(n,p)$ contains the $k$th power of a tight Hamilton cycle. This improves on a result of Parczyk and Person, who proved the same result under the assumption $p=ω\left(n^{-1/\binom{k+r-2}{r-1}}\right)$ using a second moment argument.

The unicyclic hypergraph with extremal spectral radius
For a $hypergraph$ $\mathcal{G}=(V, E)$ consisting of a nonempty vertex set $V=V(\mathcal{G})$ and an edge set $E=E(\mathcal{G})$, its $adjacency$ $matrix$ $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}=[(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}]$ is defined as $(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}=\sum_{e\in E_{ij}}\frac{1}{|e| - 1}$, where $E_{ij} = \{e \in E \, |\, i, j \in e\}$.The $spectral$ $radius$ of a hypergraph $\mathcal{G}$, denoted by $ρ(\mathcal {G})$, is the maximum modulus among all eigenvalues of $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}$. In this paper, among all $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) unicyclic hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices, the hypergraphs with the maximum and the second the maximum spectral radius are completely determined, respectively.

The uniform supertrees with the extremal spectral radius
For a $hypergraph$ $\mathcal{G}=(V, E)$ consisting of a nonempty vertex set $V=V(\mathcal{G})$ and an edge set $E=E(\mathcal{G})$, its $adjacency$ $matrix$ $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}=[(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}]$ is defined as $(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}=\sum_{e\in E_{ij}}\frac{1}{|e| - 1}$, where $E_{ij} = \{e \in E : i, j \in e\}$. The $spectral$ $radius$ of a hypergraph $\mathcal{G}$, denoted by $ρ(\mathcal {G})$, is the maximum modulus among all eigenvalues of $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}$. In this paper, among all $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) supertrees with fixed number of vertices, the supertrees with the maximum, the second maximum and the minimum spectral radius are completely determined, respectively.

Large $ Y_{3,2} $-tilings in 3-uniform hypergraphs
Let $Y_{3,2}$ be the 3-graph with two edges intersecting in two vertices. We prove that every 3-graph $ H $ on $ n $ vertices with at least $ \max \left \{ \binom{4αn}{3}, \binom{n}{3}-\binom{n-αn}{3} \right \}+o(n^3) $ edges contains a $Y_{3,2}$-tiling covering more than $ 4αn$ vertices, for sufficiently large $ n $ and $0<α< 1/4$. The bound on the number of edges is asymptotically best possible and solves a conjecture of the authors for 3-graphs that generalizes the Matching Conjecture of Erdős.

Large $ Y_{k,b} $-tilings and Hamilton $ \ell $-cycles in $k$-uniform hypergraphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $Y_{3,2}$ be the $3$-uniform hypergraph with two edges intersecting in two vertices. Our main result is that any $n$-vertex 3-uniform hypergraph with at least $\binom{n}{3} - \binom{n-m+1}{3} + o(n^3)$ edges contains a collection of $m$ vertex-disjoint copies of $Y_{3,2}$, for $m\le n/7$. The bound on the number of edges is asymptotically best possible. This problem generalizes the Matching Conjecture of Erdős. We then use this result combined with the absorbing method to determine the asymptotically best possible minimum $(k-3)$-degree threshold for $\ell$-Hamiltonicity in $k$-graphs, where $k\ge 7$ is odd and $\ell=(k-1)/2$. Moreover, we give related results on $ Y_{k,b} $-tilings and Hamilton $ \ell $-cycles with $ d $-degree for some other values of $ k,\ell,d $.
A note on algebraic connectivity of 2-connected graphs
Among all simple 2-connected graphs, and among all $θ$-graphs, the graphs with the minimum algebraic connectivity are completely determined, respectively.
