Monochromatic sums and quotients in $\mathbb N$
We prove partition regularity of the configuration $x,y,x+y,y/x$ in a strong infinitary form that extends Hindman's Theorem. We study the related issue of partition regularity of configurations involving products of a degree one polynomial in $x$ with one in $y$, reducing the general problem to a handful of special cases.
A Van der Waerden-free proof of Rado's theorem
We present a proof of the sufficiency of Rado's condition for the partition regularity of linear Diophantine equations that avoids any use of van der Waerden's theorem. The proof is based on fundamental properties that are common knowledge in combinatorics of numbers and is entirely elementary, with the sole exception of a standard application of the compactness principle.
Asymptotic Ramsey theory of Diophantine equations
We introduce the notion of asymptotic partition regularity for Diophantine equations. We show how this notion is at the core of almost all known negative results in the Ramsey theory of equations, and we use it to produce new ones, as in the case of Fermat-Catalan equations. The methods we use here are based on translating asymptotic partition regularity into the context of nonstandard extensions, via the notion of Archimedean equivalence classes of hypernaturals.
Ramsey's witnesses
We introduce the notion of Ramsey partition regularity, a generalisation of partition regularity involving infinitary configurations. We provide characterisations of this notion in terms of certain ultrafilters related to tensor products and dubbed Ramsey's witnesses; and we also consider their nonstandard counterparts as pairs of hypernatural numbers, called Ramsey pairs. These characterisations are then used to determine whether various configurations involving polynomials and exponentials are Ramsey partition regular over the natural numbers.
Exponentiations of ultrafilters
In recent years, several problems regarding the partition regularity of exponential configurations have been studied in the literature, in some cases using the properties of specific ultrafilters. In this paper, we start to lay down the foundations of a general theory of exponentiations of ultrafilters, with a particular focus on their combinatorial properties and the existence of idempotents.

In [F81] Furstenberg introduced the notion of central set and established his famous Central Sets Theorem. Since then, several improved versions of Furstenberg's result have been found. The strongest generalization has been published by De, Hindman and Strauss in [DHS08], whilst a polynomial extension by Bergelson, Johnson and Moreira appeared in [BJM17]. In this article, we will establish a polynomial extension of the stronger version of the central sets theorem, and we will discuss properties of the families of sets that this result leads to consider
Rado functionals and applications
We study Rado functionals and the maximal condition (first introduced by J. M. Barret et al.) in terms of the partition regularity of mixed systems of linear equations and inequalities. By strengthening the maximal Rado condition, we provide a sufficient condition for the partition regularity of polynomial equations over some infinite subsets of a given commutative ring. By applying these results, we derive an extension of a previous result obtained by M. Di Nasso and L. Luperi Baglini concerning partition regular inhomogeneous polynomials in three variables and also conditions for the partition regularity of equations of the form $H(xz^ρ,y)=0$, where $ρ$ is a non-zero rational and $H\in\mathbb{Z}[x,y]$ is a homogeneous polynomial.
Dynamical notions along filters
We study the localization along a filter of several dynamical notions. This generalizes and extends similar localizations that have been considered in the literature, e.g. near 0 and near an idempotent. Definitions and basic properties of F-syndetic, piecewise F-syndetic, collectionwise F-piecewise syndetic, F-quasi central and F-central sets and their relations with F-uniformly recurrent points and ultrafilters are studied. We provide also the nonstandard characterizations of some of the above notions and we prove the partition regularity of several nonlinear equations along filters under mild general assumptions.

We study systems of functional equations whose solutions can be parameterized in function of one variable; our main result proves that the partition regularity (PR) of such systems can be completely characterized by the existence of constant solutions. As applications of this result, we prove the following: (1) A complete characterization of the PR of systems of Diophantine equations in two variables over $\mathbb{N}$. In particular, we prove that the only infinitely PR irreducible equation in two variables is $x=y$; (2) PR of $S$-unit equations and the failure of Rado's Theorem for finitely generated multiplicative subgroups of $\mathbb{C}$; and (3) a complete characterization of the PR of two classes of polynomial exponential equations.

We fully characterise the solvability of Rado equations inside linear combinations $a_{1}\U\oplus\dots\oplus a_{n}\U$ of idempotent ultrafilters $\U\inβ\Z$ by exploiting known relations between such combinations and strings of integers. This generalises a partial characterization previously obtained by Mauro Di Nasso.

Recently, S.~Kanti Patra and Md.~Moid Shaik proved the existence of monochromatic solutions to systems of polynomial equations near zero for particular dense subsemigroups $S$ of $((0,\infty),+)$. We extend their results to a much larger class of systems whilst weakening the requests on $S$, using solely basic results about ultrafilters.

We prove general sufficient and necessary conditions for the partition regularity of Diophantine equations, which extend the classic Rado's Theorem by covering large classes of nonlinear equations. Sufficient conditions are obtained by exploiting algebraic properties in the space of ultrafilters betaN, grounding on combinatorial properties of positive density sets and IP sets. Necessary conditions are proved by a new technique in nonstandard analysis, based on the use of the relation of u-equivalence for the hypernatural numbers *N.
F-finite embeddabilities of sets and ultrafilters
Let $S$ be a semigroup, let $n\in\mathbb{N}$ be a positive natural number, let $A,B\subseteq S$, let $\mathcal{U},\mathcal{V}\inβS$ and let let $\mathcal{F}\subseteq\{f:S^{n}\rightarrow S\}$. We say that $A$ is $\mathcal{F}$-finitely embeddable in $B$ if for every finite set $F\subseteq A$ there is a function $f\in\mathcal{F}$ such that $f\left(A^{n}\right)\subseteq B$, and we say that $\mathcal{U}$ is $\mathcal{F}$-finitely embeddable in $\mathcal{V}$ if for every set $B\in\mathcal{V}$ there is a set $A\in\mathcal{U}$ such that $A$ is $\mathcal{F}$-finitely embeddable in $B$. We show that $\mathcal{F}$-finite embeddabilities can be used to study certain combinatorial properties of sets and ultrafilters related with finite structures. We introduce the notions of set and of ultrafilter maximal for $\mathcal{F}$-finite embeddability, whose existence is proved under very mild assumptions. Different choices of $\mathcal{F}$ can be used to characterize many combinatorially interesting sets/ultrafilters as maximal sets/ultrafilters, for example thick sets, AP-rich sets, $\overline{K(βS)}$ and so on. The set of maximal ultrafilters for $\mathcal{F}$-finite embeddability can be characterized algebraically in terms of $\mathcal{F}$. This property can be used to give an algebraic characterization of certain interesting sets of ultrafilters, such as the ultrafilters whose elements contain, respectively, arbitrarily long arithmetic, geoarithmetic or polynomial progressions. As a consequence of the connection between sets and ultrafilters maximal for $\mathcal{F}$-finite embeddability we are able to prove a general result that entails, for example, that given a finite partition of a set that contains arbitrarily long geoarithmetic (resp. polynomial) progressions, one cell must contain arbitrarily long geoarithmetic (resp. polynomial) progressions.
A nonstandard technique in combinatorial number theory

In [9], [15] it has been introduced a technique, based on nonstandard analysis, to study some problems in combinatorial number theory. In this paper we present three applications of this technique: the first one is a new proof of a known result regarding the algebra of \betaN, namely that the center of the semigroup (β\mathbb{N};\oplus) is \mathbb{N}; the second one is a generalization of a theorem of Bergelson and Hindman on arithmetic progressions of lenght three; the third one regards the partition regular polynomials in Z[X], namely the polynomials in Z[X] that have a monochromatic solution for every finite coloration of N. We will study this last application in more detail: we will prove some algebraical properties of the sets of such polynomials and we will present a few examples of nonlinear partition regular polynomials. In the first part of the paper we will recall the main results of the nonstandard technique that we want to use, which is based on a characterization of ultrafilters by means of nonstandard analysis.
Partition Regularity of Nonlinear Polynomials: a Nonstandard Approach

In 2011, Neil Hindman proved that for every natural number $n,m$ the polynomial \begin{equation*} \sum_{i=1}^{n} x_{i}-\prod\limits_{j=1}^{m} y_{j} \end{equation*} has monochromatic solutions for every finite coloration of $\mathbb{N}$. We want to generalize this result to two classes of nonlinear polynomials. The first class consists of polynomials $P(x_{1},...,x_{n},y_{1},...,y_{m})$ of the following kind: \begin{equation*} P(x_{1},...,x_{n},y_{1},...,y_{m})=\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_{i}x_{i}M_{i}(y_{1},...,y_{m}), \end{equation*} where $n,m$ are natural numbers, $\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}a_{i}x_{i}$ has monochromatic solutions for every finite coloration of $\mathbb{N}$ and the degree of each variable $y_{1},...,y_{m}$ in $M_{i}(y_{1},...,y_{m})$ is at most one. An example of such a polynomial is \begin{equation*} x_{1}y_{1}+x_{2}y_{1}y_{2}-x_{3}.\end{equation*} The second class of polynomials generalizing Hindman's result is more complicated to describe; its particularity is that the degree of some of the involved variables can be greater than one.\\ The technique that we use relies on an approach to ultrafilters based on Nonstandard Analysis. Perhaps, the most interesting aspect of this technique is that, by carefully chosing the appropriate nonstandard setting, the proof of the main results can be obtained by very simple algebraic considerations.
Hyperintegers and Nonstandard Techniques in Combinatorics of Numbers
In literature, many important combinatorial properties of subsets of N have been studied both with nonstandard techniques and from the point of view of N. In this thesis we mix these two different approaches in a technique that, at the same time, incorporates nonstandard tools and ultrafilters.
