We say that a graph $G$ has an {\em odd $K_4$-subdivision} if some subgraph of $G$ is isomorphic to a $K_4$-subdivision and whose faces are all odd holes of $G$. For a number $\ell\geq 2$, let $\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ denote the family of graphs which have girth $2\ell+1$ and have no odd hole with length greater than $2\ell+1$. Wu, Xu and Xu conjectured that every graph in $\bigcup_{\ell\geq2}\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ is 3-colorable. Recently, Chudnovsky et al. and Wu et al., respectively, proved that every graph in $\mathcal{G}_2$ and $\mathcal{G}_3$ is 3-colorable. In this paper, we prove that no $4$-vertex-critical graph in $\bigcup_{\ell\geq5}\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ has an odd $K_4$-subdivision. Using this result, Chen proved that all graphs in $\bigcup_{\ell\geq5}\mathcal{G}_{\ell}$ are 3-colorable.

The class of quasi-graphic matroids, recently introduced by Geelen, Gerards, and Whittle, is minor closed and contains both the class of lifted-graphic matroids and the class of frame matroids, each of which generalises the class of graphic matroids. In this paper, we prove that the matroids $U_{3,7}$ and $U_{4,7}$ are the only $9$-connected excluded minors for the class of quasi-graphic matroids.
Congruences modulo powers of 5 for the rank parity function

It is well known that Ramanujan conjectured congruences modulo powers of 5, 7 and and 11 for the partition function. These were subsequently proved by Watson (1938) and Atkin (1967). In 2009 Choi, Kang, and Lovejoy proved congruences modulo powers of 5 for the crank parity function. The generating function for rank parity function is f(q), which is the first example of a mock theta function that Ramanujan mentioned in his last letter to Hardy. We prove congruences modulo powers of 5 for the rank parity function.

In 2012 Bryson, Ono, Pitman and Rhoades showed how the generating functions for certain strongly unimodal sequences are related to quantum modular and mock modular forms. They proved some parity results and conjectured some mod 4 congruences for the coefficients of these generating functions. In 2016 Kim, Lim and Lovejoy obtained similar results for odd-balanced unimodal sequences and made similar mod 4 conjectures. We prove all of these mod 4 conjectures and similar congruences for the Andrews spt-function and related mock theta functions. Our method of proof involves new Hecke-Rogers type identities for indefinite binary quadratic forms and the Hurwitz class number.
Circuit Covers of Signed Eulerian Graphs

A signed circuit cover of a signed graph is a natural analog of a circuit cover of a graph, and is equivalent to a covering of its corresponding signed-graphic matroid with circuits. It was conjectured that a signed graph whose signed-graphic matroid has no coloops has a 6-cover. In this paper, we prove that the conjecture holds for signed Eulerian graphs.

The excluded minors for the class of matroids that are graphic or bicircular lift

Bicircular lift matroids are a class of matroids defined on the edge set of a graph. For a given graph $G$, the circuits of its bicircular lift matroid $L(G)$ are the edge sets of those subgraphs of $G$ that contain at least two cycles, and are minimal with respect to this property. For each cycle $C$ of $G$, since $L(G)/C$ is graphic and most graphic matroids are not bicircular lift, the class of bicircular lift matroids is not minor-closed. In this paper, we prove that the class of matroids that are graphic or bicircular lift has a finite list of excluded minors.

We prove that there is no polynomial $p(\cdot)$ with the property that a matroid $M$ can be determined to be either a lifted-graphic or frame matroid using at most $p(|M|)$ rank evaluations. This resolves two conjectures of Geelen, Gerards and Whittle (Quasi-graphic matroids, arXiv:1512.03005v1).

Bicircular lift matroids are a class of matroids defined on the edge set of a graph. For a given graph $G$, the circuits of its bicircular lift matroid are the edge sets of those subgraphs of $G$ that contain at least two cycles, and are minimal with respect to this property. The main result of this paper is a characterization of when two graphs give rise to the same bicircular lift matoid, which answers a question proposed by Irene Pivotto. In particular, aside from some appropriately defined "small" graphs, two graphs have the same bicircular lift matroid if and only if they are $2$-isomorphic in the sense of Whitney.

A frame matroid M is graphic if there is a graph G with cycle matroid isomorphic to M. In general, if there is one such graph, there will be many. Zaslavsky has shown that frame matroids are precisely those having a representation as a biased graph; this class includes graphic matroids, bicircular matroids, and Dowling geometries. Whitney characterized which graphs have isomorphic cycle matroids, and Matthews characterised which graphs have isomorphic graphic bicircular matroids. In this paper, we give a characterization of which biased graphs give rise to isomorphic graphic frame matroids.

Lovász has completely characterised the structure of graphs with no two vertex-disjoint cycles, while Slilaty has given a structural characterisation of graphs with no two vertex-disjoint odd cycles; his result is in fact more general, describing signed graphs with no two vertex-disjoint negative cycles. A biased graph is a graph with a distinguished set of cycles (called balanced) with the property that any theta subgraph does not contain exactly two balanced cycles. In this paper we characterise the structure of biased graphs with no two vertex-disjoint unbalanced cycles, answering a question by Zaslavsky and generalising the results of Lovász and Slilaty.

Let $M$ be a matroid and let $Q$, $R$, $S$ and $T$ be subsets of the ground set such that the smallest separation that separates $Q$ from $R$ has order $k$ and the smallest separation that separates $S$ from $T$ has order $l$. We prove that if $E(M)-(Q\cup R\cup S\cup T)$ is sufficiently large, then there is an element $e$ of $M$ such that, in one of $M\backslash e$ or $M/e$, both connectivities are preserved.
