On the coefficients of Coxeter polynomials of trees and bipartite quivers
We apply spectral graph theory and a theorem of A'Campo to express the first and second coefficients of the Coxeter polynomials associated with certain bipartite quivers in terms of the degrees of the vertices in their underlying graphs. As a consequence, we provide a new proof of a result by Happel, expressing the second coefficient of the Coxeter polynomial of a tree in terms of its vertex degrees.
On derived equivalences for categories of generalized intervals of a finite poset
We study two constructions related to the intervals of finite posets. The first one is a poset. The second one is more complicated. Loosely speaking it can be seen as a poset with some extra zero-relations. As main result, we show that these two constructions are equivalent at the level of derived categories.

On Jacobian algebras from closed surfaces
We show that the quivers with potentials associated to ideal triangulations of marked surfaces with empty boundary are not rigid, and their completed Jacobian algebras are finite-dimensional and symmetric.

Which mutation classes of quivers have constant number of arrows?
We classify the connected quivers with the property that all the quivers in their mutation class have the same number of arrows. These are the ones having at most two vertices, or the ones arising from triangulations of marked bordered oriented surfaces of two kinds: either surfaces with non-empty boundary having exactly one marked point on each boundary component and no punctures, or surfaces without boundary having exactly one puncture. This combinatorial property has also a representation-theoretic counterpart: to each such quiver there is a naturally associated potential such that the Jacobian algebras of all the QP in its mutation class are derived equivalent.

Mutation classes of certain quivers with potentials as derived equivalence classes
We characterize the marked bordered unpunctured oriented surfaces with the property that all the Jacobian algebras of the quivers with potentials arising from their triangulations are derived equivalent. These are either surfaces of genus g with b boundary components and one marked point on each component, or the disc with 4 or 5 points on its boundary. We show that for each such marked surface, all the quivers in the mutation class have the same number of arrows, and the corresponding Jacobian algebras constitute a complete derived equivalence class of finite-dimensional algebras whose members are connected by sequences of Brenner-Butler tilts. In addition, we provide explicit quivers for each of these classes. We consider also 10 of the 11 exceptional finite mutation classes of quivers not arising from triangulations of marked surfaces excluding the one of the quiver X_7, and show that all the finite-dimensional Jacobian algebras in such class (for suitable choice of potentials) are derived equivalent only for the classes of the quivers E_6^(1,1) and X_6.

Universal derived equivalences of posets of cluster tilting objects
We show that for two quivers without oriented cycles related by a BGP reflection, the posets of their cluster tilting objects are related by a simple combinatorial construction, which we call a flip-flop. We deduce that the posets of cluster tilting objects of derived equivalent path algebras of quivers without oriented cycles are universally derived equivalent. In particular, all Cambrian lattices corresponding to the various orientations of the same Dynkin diagram are universally derived equivalent.

Universal derived equivalences of posets
By using only combinatorial data on two posets X and Y, we construct a set of so-called formulas. A formula produces simultaneously, for any abelian category A, a functor between the categories of complexes of diagrams over X and Y with values in A. This functor induces a triangulated functor between the corresponding derived categories. This allows us to prove, for pairs X, Y of posets sharing certain common underlying combinatorial structure, that for any abelian category A, regardless of its nature, the categories of diagrams over X and Y with values in A are derived equivalent.

On the periodicity of Coxeter transformations and the non-negativity of their Euler forms
Published in Linear Algebra and its Applications 428 (2008), 742-753 • View PublicationBIB
We show that for piecewise hereditary algebras, the periodicity of the Coxeter transformation implies the non-negativity of the Euler form. Contrary to previous assumptions, the condition of piecewise heredity cannot be omitted, even for triangular algebras, as demonstrated by incidence algebras of posets. We also give a simple, direct proof, that certain products of reflections, defined for any square matrix A with 2 on its main diagonal, and in particular the Coxeter transformation corresponding to a generalized Cartan matrix, can be expressed as $-A_{+}^{-1} A_{-}^t$, where A_{+}, A_{-} are closely associated with the upper and lower triangular parts of A.

On Derived Equivalences of Categories of Sheaves Over Finite Posets

A finite poset X carries a natural structure of a topological space. Fix a field k, and denote by D(X) the bounded derived category of sheaves of finite dimensional k-vector spaces over X. Two posets X and Y are said to be derived equivalent if D(X) and D(Y) are equivalent as triangulated categories. We give explicit combinatorial properties of a poset which are invariant under derived equivalence, among them are the number of points, the Z-congruency class of the incidence matrix, and the Betti numbers. Then we construct, for any closed subset Y of X, a strongly exceptional collection in D(X) and use it to show an equivalence between D(X) and the bounded derived category of a finite dimensional algebra A (depending on Y). We give conditions on X and Y under which A becomes an incidence algebra of a poset. We deduce that a lexicographic sum of a collection of posets along a bipartite graph is derived equivalent to the lexicographic sum of the same collection along the opposite graph. This construction produces many new derived equivalences of posets and generalizes other well known ones. As a corollary we show that the derived equivalence class of an ordinal sum of two posets does not depend on the order of summands. We give an example that this is not true for three summands.
