Rainbow trapezoids with given area
A well-known result by Graham in Euclidean Ramsey Theory states that, for every positive real number $A$, every coloring of the plane with finite number of colors contains a monochromatic triangle of area $A$. We consider canonical versions of this result. We show that every $3$-coloring of the plane integer lattice contains either a rainbow triangle of area $1/2$ or a monochromatic rectangle of any given area whose sides are parallell to the axes. We also show that, under natural conditions, there are numbers $A$ and $B$ such that every coloring of the plane integer lattice contains either a monochromatic rectangle of area $A$ or a rainbow trapezoid of area $B$. As usual, only vertex colors are considered: e.g., a monochromatic rectangle is a set of four points in the lattice which a) are the vertices of a rectangle and b) are assigned the same color.
Homogeneous Patterns in Ramsey Theory
In this article, we investigate homogeneous versions of certain nonlinear Ramsey-theoretic results, with three significant applications.
As the first application, we prove that for every finite coloring of $\mathbb{Z}^+$, there exist an infinite set $A$ and an arbitrarily large finite set $B$ such that $A \cup (A+B) \cup A \cdot B$ is monochromatic. This result resolves the finitary version of a question posed by Kra, Moreira, Richter, and Robertson regarding the partition regularity of $(A+B) \cup A \cdot B$ for infinite sets $A, B$ (see (Question 8.4, J. Amer. Math. Soc., 37 (2024))), which is closely related to a question of Erdős.
As the second application, we make progress on a nonlinear extension of the partition regularity of Pythagorean triples. Specifically, we demonstrate that the equation $x^2 + y^2 = z^2 + P(u_1, \dots, u_n)$ is $2$-regular for certain appropriately chosen polynomials $P$ of any desired degree.
Finally, as the third application, we establish a nonlinear variant of Rado's conjecture concerning the degree of regularity. We prove that for every $m, n \in \mathbb{Z}^+$, there exists an $m$-degree homogeneous equation that is $n$-regular but not $(n+1)$-regular. The case $m = 1$ corresponds to Rado's conjecture, originally proven by Alexeev and Tsimerman (J. Combin. Theory Ser. A, 117 (2010), and later independently by Golowich (Electron. J. Combin. 21 (2014)).

Let $\mathcal{S}$ be a finite commutative semigroup written additively, and let $\exp(\mathcal{S})$ be its exponent which is defined as the least common multiple of all periods of the elements in $\mathcal{S}$. For every sequence $T$ of elements in $\mathcal{S}$ (repetition allowed), let $σ(T) \in \mathcal{S}$ denote the sum of all terms of $T$. Define the Davenport constant $D(\mathcal{S})$ of $\mathcal{S}$ to be the least positive integer $d$ such that every sequence $T$ over $\mathcal{S}$ of length at least $d$ contains a proper subsequence $T'$ with $σ(T')=σ(T)$, and define the Erdős-Ginzburg-Ziv Theorem constant $E(\mathcal{S})$ to be the least positive integer $\ell$ such that every sequence $T$ over $\mathcal{S}$ of length at least $\ell$ contains a subsequence $T'$ with $|T|-|T'|=\left\lceil\frac{|\mathcal{S}|}{\exp(\mathcal{S})}\right\rceil\exp(\mathcal{S})$ and $σ(T')=σ(T)$. When $\mathcal{S}$ is a finite abelian group, it is well known that $\left\lceil\frac{|\mathcal{S}|}{\exp(\mathcal{S})}\right\rceil\exp(\mathcal{S})=|\mathcal{S}|$ and $E(\mathcal{S})=D(\mathcal{S})+|\mathcal{S}|-1$. In this paper we investigate whether $E(\mathcal{S})\leq D(\mathcal{S})+\left\lceil\frac{|\mathcal{S}|}{\exp(\mathcal{S})}\right\rceil \exp(\mathcal{S})-1$ holds true for all finite commutative semigroups $\mathcal{S}$. We provide a positive answer to the question above for some classes of finite commutative semigroups, including group-free semigroups, elementary semigroups, and archimedean semigroups with certain constraints.

Let G be a finite additive abelian group with exponent exp(G)=n>1 and let A be a nonempty subset of {1,...,n-1}. In this paper, we investigate the smallest positive integer $m$, denoted by s_A(G), such that any sequence {c_i}_{i=1}^m with terms from G has a length n=exp(G) subsequence {c_{i_j}}_{j=1}^n for which there are a_1,...,a_n in A such that sum_{j=1}^na_ic_{i_j}=0.
When G is a p-group, A contains no multiples of p and any two distinct elements of A are incongruent mod p, we show that s_A(G) is at most $\lceil D(G)/|A|\rceil+exp(G)-1$ if |A| is at least (D(G)-1)/(exp(G)-1), where D(G) is the Davenport constant of G and this upper bound for s_A(G)in terms of |A| is essentially best possible.
In the case A={1,-1}, we determine the asymptotic behavior of s_{1,-1}(G) when exp(G) is even, showing that, for finite abelian groups of even exponent and fixed rank, s_{1,-1}(G)=exp(G)+log_2|G|+O(log_2log_2|G|) as exp(G) tends to the infinity. Combined with a lower bound of $exp(G)+sum{i=1}{r}\lfloor\log_2 n_i\rfloor$, where $G=\Z_{n_1}\oplus...\oplus \Z_{n_r}$ with 1<n_1|... |n_r, this determines s_{1,-1}(G), for even exponent groups, up to a small order error term. Our method makes use of the theory of L-intersecting set systems.
Some additional more specific values and results related to s_{1,-1}(G) are also computed.
